Don't all swords have blades though?
Takumi's part seems to be very unique and may require further labbing. He and Owain use generics, however after obtaining A-rank this will happen occasionally if Takumi is the lead. It is a reference to their A+ support conversation. Interestingly, while Takumi always says "I'm gonna erase you!" over the eye shot, this time even that has been replaced by a unique line, which to my knowledge is the only instance in the whole game. I'm afraid I simply do not have the time to lab this. If anyone would like to investigate dual special quotes between characters who share A+ conversations who also usually use generics, I would be very grateful to have any information shared so that I may be able to squeeze out a vid on them. As far as I know, this is the only A+ dual special in the game, and it took a while to activate while I was trying to gather footage for the vid.
Leo and Niles are next, and then the priority is Robin/Tharja, Takumi/Oboro, Corrin/Azura, Navarre/Minerva, Tiki/Linde, Anna and finally Olivia. I have finished grinding and note taking with all characters so I can upload in any order. Let me know if you have a favourite from the list and I'll try to prioritise them.

FYI: In the Japanese version, Lucina's idea for a new name for Falchion was something like "Sealed Cursed Blade X".

I absolutely love how Takumi’s extended line overwrites his usual Dual Support “crit” quote.
EDIT: I must’ve missed that when I tested these lines. I didn’t have Owain and Takumi listed as a unique pair. It must be somewhat random then. I’ll look into this later and see if there’s maybe a pattern that can be derived from this. Also see if maybe it works both ways.

When I saw your channel Owain’s dual specials were the first thing I looked for lol. Was not disappointed.

He is a Ryoma Clone but it's a fun move-set, he's one of my favourite characters to play alongside flyers, mages, Lissa and Lyn/Navarre.
This game is a cash grab... sadly.
Had so much potential but they dropped the ball so hard.
Can Owain and Takumi seriously just overwrite their usual duo quote with their support conversation ending?

So I ran through Ch.2 Woodlands 3 (+ 1. Originally planned on 5+1 times but I figured with the amount of specials in the last two attempts it was enough data gathered, though if you’d like me to do more testing I can) to see if there’s a noticeable pattern. Deployed Takumi as my controlled character, Owain as my partner, and Caeda as back-up. Here’s what I got:
1st attempt:
12 specials. Unique quotes on 1, 8, 10, 12.
2nd attempt:
22 specials. Unique quotes on 3, 8, 9, 12, 14, 17, 18, 20, 21
3rd attempt:
23 specials. Unique quotes on 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 15, 23
I did one additional attempt with Owain as vanguard, and I got no uniques out of it, so I’m convinced it is only with Takumi as vanguard with Owain and only for that A+ pairing it seems. It also seems that it is entirely random whether the unique quote will play out. Based on attempt 1, I’m tempted to say it’s about a 1/3 chance (makes some sense since there’s three special quotes to pull from), but it could be entirely different odds. Fairly certain though it only happens after A+ support has been met. It wouldn’t make sense without the proper context (though it’s not like playing from a new save with all DLC wouldn't open the way for out-of-context lines anyways since it’s entirely possible for Owain to call Chrom “Uncle” if their A+ support is met prior to Chapter 5).
The results would be much more varied if it were truly random. These results show it occurs between 33% and 40% of the time so with the current results we can give it a rough 36.5% chance of occurring which is still close enough to 1/3 chance for me, haha. There may not be a pattern but the chances of it happening are certainly around there given the current data. I may contribute to some labbing if I get the time. I'd also like to test the chances of sub-A lines occurring after A-rank because it certainly feels as if it's at a similar percentage, just from all the gathering footage for these vids.
