- Hear this pedal at then end of this track. : hanfordflyover.bandcamp.com/t...
Super quick random demo of this amazing October 1973 Colorsound Wah Fuzz Straight. You can use fuzz and wah together or independently, the fuzz feeds into the wah. ( I need to find a better way to record, i get lots of audio latency how I do it at the moment (cheap irig into headphone socket of iphone) and it messes with my timing (that's my excuse anyway ;) ) - Hudba
I keep coming back to this video cos I really enjoy your playing
cheers. :)
Had one these pedals in the early 70s which I used with an overdriven Italian Pianotone electric piano in a band I played in. Put the whole lot thru a 80 watt HH solid state combo amp. Fantastic sound. The sweep was incredible. Really miss it.
Sounds amazing
Sounds so good! Nice playing!!!
Not gonna lie, that straight fuzz riff was sweet! Sweet pedal.
Wicked sound!
I just bought one of these because of this demo. A must have. I’m so excited!
how is it ? +o+
@@neo_varna these are absolutely a timewarp bombshell from the 60’s. Amazing fun and inspiring. Highly recommend.
@@rebelrelicguitars- I bought mine brand new for £15 in 1974.
These were not, to my knowledge, available in the 1960's
Good?
Mine never sounded like this in 1973! ha ha..... I had the ''Colorsound"' Wah-Fuzz-Swell pedal in the same yellow , the swell and fuzz were OK but the wah was terrible ..it kept picking up taxi radio signals and football results. Ha ha.....It only cost me around 15 -to -20 pounds sterling back then......I see these now fetch exorbitant prices, in multi hundreds and even 1,300. BUT THIS one you have sounds ace!!
beautiful pedal, vintage sound-italian pedal, jen and others
I like your playing!
Oof! The low end of the sweep has such a sick growl!
I was really hoping those Andorran antennae were going to be motorized and move around while you played.
Damn that’s nasty, 60’s style.
🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
That fucking thing sounds phenomenal....🎸🇬🇧💷
It looks like the sweep is a tad wider than most wahs
Woooow! I need this pedal! And also this miss piggy head 😂
Wish I had never sold mine!
By any chance, does anybody know if the Macari's Solasound WOW-Fuzz by Stu Castledine is based on this pedal or has some sort of modification to it other than the placement of the wah foot switch?
Yes, Stuart Castledine replicated it to perfection. The only difference is lower noise (improved power supply section). He's a genius with inductors, winds them himself, exact replica of original halo, also same OC76 germanium transistors for fuzz. He added a trimpot inside to control fuzz level, it's set to be original from the best original examples he reverse engineered. Enclosure pressed with the same machine as original Colorsound pedals. Can't get more authentic!
P.S. Stuart Castledine's site is wah-wah dot co dot uk.
Sounds very Hendrix
Very cool I have a purple Colorsound Wah/Swell but it needs a new pot Any idea what type the wahswell uses ? Thanks
depends if it is a single or dual pot
Great great playing. Always come to this video to hear. Which one do you like the most? This one or the farfisa?
thanks, this Colorsound is my favourite one. I wish i had kept the Farfisa and recorded it properly as that was really good.
Sounds fantastic! What guitar and amp are you using?
hi. the guitar was an 80's ibanez blazer and the amp was a vox combo
Sounds glorious, the amp set clean ?
It was a while back but as I recall the amp was just on the edge of overdrive
does this particular wah do like clean-clean? Like your default tone is already overdriven, is that your amp or the pedal?
hi, that was the amp, it will do a clean wah sound
I have this same one. The fuzz is even nastier than yours. Sounds like a buzz saw. There are two adjustable pots inside. Any idea what the little side one and the big center one do.
if yours has 2 pots inside its a different circuit than in mine, yours will have the jumbo tonebender fuzz, mine is the same circuit as the colorsound fuzz box. the 2 pots inside yours are for volume and fuzz depth i recall.
@@HanfordTapeSessions I found a block schematic with circuit parts layout and values. One is marked as a + or - 5 ohm trim pot and the other is 100 ohms. I was surprised at the small value of the tiny one and will be careful while trying the adjustments. Thanks so much for the reply and of course the great demo.
@@bluenotesharp hi.. that should be 5k and 100k the 5k will be fuzz and the 100k level (probably) :)
@@HanfordTapeSessions , thanks again. Yes I realized my mistake after I typed it.
And was happy to see your continuing interest in the conversation. I also picked up an original Sam Ash Fuzzz Boxx sometimes called a 48th St special since these were made by hand there. (Actually upstairs)
Another very interesting and unique tone shaping overdrive type pedal. However my favorite is still my original script logo
Distortion + by MXR that I bought new as a much younger guitarist. A little 741 op amp and some cool old diodes sound great. Simple is sometimes best.
Where’d you find this?!?!
they turn up from time to time on ebay etc
Is this the one with knobs on the side?
no, they have 3 knobs and the fuzz circuit in them is the same as the tonebender. The one in this demo has the same circuit as the the colorsound one knob fuzz with an internal pot to change fuzz level
Hanford Tape Sessions Interesting - thanks for the info. By tonebender you mean the VOX tonebender that costs an arm and a leg ( around 1500 USD)
@@kimsung2384 hi, the 1970's Colorsound Tonebenders
Hanford Tape Sessions Ah I see. Never used one before. So they sound exactly the same and functionality is the same
@@kimsung2384 Damn I'm also looking for a VOX tonebender sucks to be broke lmao
