I don't know why anyone would say anything negative about your decision. This was a no brainer as far as I can see. I am happy for you and Robert. Although you'll have to wait, the trip of a lifetime awaits. It really seems like someone was looking out for you with all of the airfare issues that could have happened trying to make it there this week. Keep smiling!!
So refreshing to hear your decision. We also took the Move Over offer. Bags were packed, we were ready to go BUT it was an offer we couldn't refuse. However we are booked on the Majestic Princess for our replacement cruise - Reserve collection, all the perks you spoke about. We will try to connect with the Sun Princess in the future after it crosses the Atlantic.

I was on 2/28 inaugural cruise. Good news first: Princess gave me significantly more compensation than the initial $120 (so I’m happy). The ship was 70% ready. It’s like prepaying for a 5 course meal and having them tell you they are out of ingredients for two significant courses so there will only be 3. The 3 I had were amazing, but I paid for 5! 🙂. Ship yard construction crews are still onboard and you can hear them working away to get it done. I wish Princess had been honest and informed us they’d decided NOT to cancel but the ship isn’t 100% and given passengers a choice to go or reschedule. That would have been appropriate.
Favor, I have been sub'd to your channel for a very long time. You and Robert are always positive and go with the flow even when faced with tough situations. No doubt you guys made the right decision by accepting that amazing offer. Absolutely no shame in that! We try to stay away from inaugural sailings for the very reasons you've mentioned in this vlog. By the time you sail next year the Sun Princess will have all the kinks worked out. You will have your dream cruise..and it will be all the better with that amazing offer and less stress. I’m glad they gave you the better offer. The strike worked out for you. I would have accepted the offer as well. I’m scheduled to be on the Sun April 17th. Very nervous about what will happen for us. There are many disappointed passengers aboard now. I wish Princess was honest and didn’t put their passengers in these positions. Shame on them for that.

Thanks for an excellent explanation of all the issues and what was discussed going into the process. And for the airlines to pile on with cancelled airline flights at the last minute, whew. PS when you talked about CZcams monetization, Buddy popped his head up. He’s ready he says, he wants to be the next big you tube pup star. 😂 . His channel will help you pay for the next Mediterranean cruise 🐶. But yeah, I understand the flights were cancelled not due to any airline fault but due to a strike over in Germany by airport workers and the fallout from that.

We were on the same March 9th sailing on the Sun Princess out of Barcelona. We did receive the Move Over offer as well but decided not to accept it, although it was quite generous. In our case, our flight reservations held and it would have been difficult to cancel and be reimbursed. If our flight would have been cancelled like your Lufthansa flight, that could have changed the equation. So the March 9th sailing turned out to be the second sailing for the Sun Princess. We were happy to see that Princess did a great job with providing entertainment. The big shows in the Arena and the Dome were not ready so we didn't get to see those but Princess brought in some great singers, magicians and comedians along with live music from their band that we didn't feel like we missed out. The crew were really top notch and the service and food were excellent. Some of the best we have had on the 14 Princess cruises we have been on. The ports were a big part of the cruise for us as we had not been to Greece, Turkey or Italy. We had booked hotels before and after the cruise that would have been difficult to cancel and we really wanted to see Rome. The weather was great except for a cold rainy day in Sicily. I'm happy with our decision to not accept the Move Over offer, we had a great time, but it could have gone the other way and I would have been happy as well. We live in Florida so it will be easy for us to jump on another Sun Princess sailing next year out of Fort Lauderdale and see the big shows so that's another factor. As you mentioned there was no bad decision. We actually were next to a family on the flight home that accepted the Move Over offer and turned their vacation into a land tour. They took the train from Barcelona to Rome and stopped in Milan. Everyone decides in a case like this based on their own circumstances.

I love your honest response to this situation. A similar situation happened with Crown Princess. It was her 1st sailing post pandemic and she had engine issues right from the start which altered our itinerary twice. Plus it was right when Canada reopened so Victoria was a bit of a mess. I think alot of people complained bc our 20%FCC became 50% and I was able to get a sailing on Discovery, their then brand new ship for less than $200. Glad you were able to rebook. Looking forward to Sun in late 2025.

Shows they know their cruisers are the reason they are doing this not just the bottom line. I just hope they go back and fix the situations with the previous sailings. I think if I were in your spot, I would have made the exact choice you did too. This could be a once in a lifetime cruise vacation. Things were to iffy. You both with have a wonderful cruise in the Mediterranean next year.

that’s a wonderful offer and absolutely, if a new ship has some kinks, you want those worked out well before you sail on her. Im so glad you were able to cancel things and move things around. A Med cruise is VERY port intensive and it can be exhausting so maybe a shorter sailing won’t be a bad thing. i’m sorta “meh” about Barcelona …would concentrate time and money toward a slightly longer end of cruise stay in rome if you can swing it. 3 days isn’t enough…there is SO.MUCH. to see! 😊ps we did our med on Ruby but that was 2011 when she was still newer. Princess does a GREAT job in the Med!
I think they drastically oversold too. We got over 20 move over offers at the agency I work for. That was just our bookings, I can't imagine how many there actually were!
The person I was emailing with said she was super busy with people accepting offers. I would like to know just how many people were offered. I am still in shock at this offer.

Sounds like great decision making to me. When you go in 2025, which will be here before you know it, I know you will have your trip of a lifetime. The Mediterranean is a wonderful trip. Barcelona & Rome are spectacular pre- and post-cruise places to experience as well!

Thank you for raising awareness on how horribly Princess treated their passengers on the first 3 bookings. I hope Princess gets it together and takes care of these passengers who believed in them enough to invest in these sailings, and were significantly impacted by Princess’s poor planning and decisions. ❤
Wow, that is a great offer. I’m paying close attention to all of this because we are booked on the Star Princess in the Mediterranean in early Sept. 2025. We start in Rome and end in Athens. We, too, want before and after stays. I’m a bit concerned as we are booked on the Star’s 5th sailing, but honestly it’s going to be about the ports for us. The last time we did a similar trip on the Celebrity Beyond, we were hardly on the ship. I guess we’ll see.
I think the media will be there due to the naming ceremony being scheduled for the 9th of March. I am on the 19 March cruise- I am hoping park 19 is up and running- my 10 year old grandson is so excited and I hate for him to be disappointed.
Absolutely right choice...first March is not the best time in the Med....much better to go in warmer months. Santorini may have been taken off due to work on the cable car etc. Much better to wait. That offer was so generous because the ship is SO NOT READY. Just for your info those media invitees are complementary so not sure how valid their reports will be. Thanks for the info.
it's amazing how much more generous they were with the people who were able to embark, compared with the customers who had their cruises cancelled and clearly lost money in the process.

The little "monetized" money is NOT that much. It's just a little extra, like me returning bottles/cans for bottle deposits. I would have TOTALLY taken that offer, that was phenomenal. Don't mind those folks at cruise "critic". I am SO glad it worked out for you two. Glad you found the replacement that sounds PERFECT. I mean a mini suite? Doesn't matter if it's the "extra" one or not. Everything carried over so that's a WIN!!!!! For EVERYTHING. I am SO happy for you 2.
I can only Imagine you being stressed and the anxiety you went through. The only difference between us, I think, is when it's stressful I bury my anxiety because Ed is the one who shows his. Which I get 100%. I have a feeling that Robert is like me that he focuses on getting to the end result like I do because we both can't be in the anxiety mode. Hope that makes sense. It's not a criticism it shows how well a couple/partners work together. Yin and Yang shall I say.

from what I saw on the other reviews of the ship / cruise the show was canceled because is a very intricate show with performers hanging from wires and they needed more time to work it out for safety reasons

well, you can feel lucky with a 15-minute reply, because for me, who had the February 18 cruise cancelled, princess takes more than 2 weeks to reply to a simple e-mail, and the reply is completely out of line with the questions asked.
I think Princess have not handled this well. You certainly have a good deal and you have taken the correct decision to cancel. We shall watch Don Terris and see how he feels about this cruise. Relax and let others do the research for you. Perhaps for the new cruise booking you can have a stop in London, then I will take you to see some of the wonder that is my home city.
Be aware if you paid in CAD but Princess converted the CAD to USD using a much much lower exchange rate (lose money as a result). In addition, Princess locked the same exchange rate on the day you booked the next cruise even though you are not sailing immediately but more than a year later. The exchange rate should be based on the time of sailing (should be the exact market rate, not losing money), so that we get the remaining balance/refund at the end of the cruise (based on the exchange rate at that time). In addition, you may not get the mid-ship (if you paid extra to choose your cabin before the Moveover Offer) but will be assigned a not-so-good Cabin (in terms of the location) even though it is an upgrade. It is better to have a Holding Account so that you can think, plan and decide later. Once they converted CAD you paid to USD with a much much lower rate (lose money), as the onboard credits (OBC) (they want you to spend money while on board), if you do not use all the OBC, it will be converted back to CAD again before Princess refund the balance back to you (with another much much lower exchange rate, lose money again). This is so not right - My personal opinion/experience. CAD is Canadian dollars. Be aware. ❤

Lufthansa is a part of Star Alliance, we booked with United and our Lufthansa flight was selected. We ended up with flight credit, annoyingly. Since the flight was cancelled by United/lufthansa I felt we should have been refunded. We are going to call and try and get an actual refund for at least that flight. We cancelled the remain 3 flights on our booking all with United so we were thankfully given flight credit and no penalty due to the Lufthansa flight. WOW, did that make any sense… a bit difficult to explain in text.

Hi, Royal offers more than Carnival and it is better quality/tasting than Carnival. I have many vlogs on Royal ships, I suggest watching so she can see how to have the best experience eating gluten free on board both in the buffet, restaurants and dining room! Hugs!
I don’t understand the missing or not prepared shows on Inaugural sailings. If they are building a new ship, the shows should be preparing. They act like it’s a surprise and they are not ready.

There's a point in which people need to realize that someone is trying to tell you something. It sounds like that point. It stinks you weren't able to go but we're adults and everyone has to make the right decision for themselves. My husband and I would have taken it without even thinking of further. If people give you guys grief... Oh well. It really does sound like the right decision.

What an odd question. If I were not paying for the sailing I’d have a completely different perspective for myself but not for others who did pay or were paying. Getting something for free I would have no reason to complain about the value for money for myself but would still be upset for others. BUT yes, I would have still chosen to sail later, I would have wanted to experience a fully functional ship especially if I were sailing for review purposes. I don’t know how sponsorships work for travel influencers so do keep that in mind because I’m not nor have I ever been sponsored. Take care!

Yes, you are correct. I said 5100 in the video but it is 5400 and the new booking was paid in full.
It’s seems like your basing your decision on how much loot you are receiving than the ship not having the Tacky broadway shows available.

If you’re been following at all, the launch has been abysmal. Princess totally screwed over their passengers on the first 2 cancelled cruises, as well as the folks onboard now who were not informed the ship wasn’t finished and is missing all of the touted features they sold their passengers. I would also have taken the offer given how horribly Princess has treated the first 12-14k passengers who invested in this ship.
