Hey everyone, I’m kind of new to the fan base. How big is the FC Cincinnati fan base? Is it relatively small or does it kind of spread out through Michigan, and the rest of the Midwest? BTW, they’ve had a great start and I love their new signing.

It cannot be overstayed how much Albright and Noonan transformed us from abysmal to a top side so quickly.
In terms of the spine I agree, but I'd argue Nwobodo is critical in linking defense to midfield and switching points of attack. He racks up yellows, but he does a ton of work break up other side.
We desperately needed a 6 like him and why Albright made that his first major signing priority.
In terms of looking ahead I think a big part of having systems and consistency is having that core group that will be there for years. Acosta is our most important player and having him locked in for the next few years will be critical. I'm confident in Albright and scouting to find a replacement for Brenner this Summer.
One major aspect of balance is no one has to come in and save us. We just need a player to contribute and to unlock team mates.
Feels good after those dark years.

Yes - I definitely tried to make a succinct video that missed pieces of the squad. The other midfielders deserve credit.

Cincinnati was built to make a real run this season, but they're going to have to survive the month of July. Brenner is leaving for Udinese, and there's a good chance Vazquez and Celentano will be gone for several weeks with the Gold Cup. Also, Acosta is really the catalyst of that attack, so they have to hope that he stays healthy.

    • @ItsCalledSoccer

The fact that the squad is built to not depend on one player gives me hope they'll continue some success during Gold Cup.

Great video as always Jake. Key of course for Cincy is they have made their home a fortress so far so as long as that continues they'll stay at the top. The concern for them of course is if they can consistently generate enough offense as the season goes on. But in MLS if you have a good 6 and a good 10 you'll stay in almost every game

Two things, it’s great that Cincinati is finally doing thing to get recognition, they deserve it for the the work it took. Second, I would rather have a system a player can be plugged into than building around a superstar. Great video!

@@ItsCalledSoccer by the way you explained it perfectly. I was fortunate to have lunch a month ago with Juergen Sommer, because of you, what he said is clearer. I watch FCC and what Coach Noonan has built and am blown away. At 62 I still play twice a week, head coached club for 11 year and my son played div 1 so sometimes I can get cocky like I know something but Noonan reminds me I might as well never stepped on a pitch, he is the man. Thanks for the clarity. Yes it’s US soccer so people will discount it but at most any level it’s hard to do but at the pro or senior level... I hope we can hold on to him for a little while until a European club sees his skills.

You missed 3 of the most pivotal parts of the team: 1) Obinna - In my opinion the best ball attacking midfielder in MLS. 2) Barreal - he is the engine that makes this offense work along with Lucho especially sans Brenner. He has also learned from Pat and the coaching staff how to play D as a winger converted into a wingback I case you missed it here is his amazing goal from the open cup last night: czcams.com/video/JrUw2r2AvGM/video.html 3) 3) Mosquera - who is likely the most athletically and technically inclined defender in MLS. We will miss him when he goes back to Wolves.

One of the best arguments against pro/rel -- if the US had pro/rel, and IF Cincinnati was even part of the top division this season, they'd be in a relegation fight not a supporters shield run.

I think it's interesting that FCC isn't hoisting the MLS Cup this year because of the collective decision making of the MLS Coach of the Year, the MLS Defender of the Year, and the MLS MVP.

They were last by FAR then. What the dude did must be incredible. Think about it. Last -> first in a year and a half. They lost to Philly in an international window, which meant they lost to their B/C team 2-1. They only had 1 international player I think from either costa rica or panama I forgot lol. Matarriata I think. I butchered it probably. He wasnt even a starter

Pat Noonan is the Ted Lasso of MLS. His tactics and consistency has really shown. I'm an FCC fan and I don't think they have even reached their full potential. I think they could be playing better. Brandon Vazquez isn't playing as well as last year. Luco Acosta has been the team MVP this year, as well as the GK Roman Celentano has been fantastic. They should win at least two trophies this year: Supporter's Shield and Open Cup. The MLS Cup is a toss up, you never know who will win that.

Without splashy signings? I think Acosta and Brenner are pretty splashy. And they finished 10th overall last season. Not so quite wooden spoon. Your videos could be so much better if you stopped cutting corners with some of your statements.

    • @ItsCalledSoccer
      @ItsCalledSoccer  Před rokem +8

While I appreciate the feedback I don’t consider Acosta and Brenner splashy signings. Yes they’re good signings and good names if you are paying attention, but in no way are they splashy for MLS when you’re competing against Chicarito, Vela, Shaqiri etc. Cincy’s signings might be performing better than those players but they’re not bigger names, and that’s kind of the point of the video.
