I felt the pacing issue too and it made me feel super overwhelmed at first, but when I finished the episode it didn't really feel like an issue for me because I realized something.
It's only really fast-paced when Caine is around which makes a TON of sense, he's an AI, of course Caine is going to be going a mile a minute and making you feel overwhelmed.
WE felt overwhelmed and couldn't take anything in because POMNI felt overwhelmed and couldn't take anything in. Her very first line when Caine is gone was "What did any of that mean?"
So I actually think it was a really smart choice.
yeah, I don't really think it's a pacing issue at all...? It's a Caine issue, sort of. I mean, take a step into an auction house and you'll feel overwhelmed because everyone else is simply very used to that breakneck speed that is overwhelming to newbies.

It being paced badly on purpose doesn't make it better. So that argument doesn't really work imo. But there are hardly any pilots that are paced well, due to the fact that they need to give as much information about the show in the least amount of time possible.

...Why do I get the sneaking suspicion that there's going to be an important character named Abel? 'Cause we've got a Caine, and the logo on the wall in the "exit dimension" or whatever said C&A. I dunno, probably too obvious.
And the dinner scene looks like Last Supper.

@@SillyShy they're essentially the same thing, lmao. At most you can say Jesters mock the audience while most clowns mock themselves, but they're still essentially the same idea anyway. Colorful humorous entertainers with about the same aesthetic.
If anything, Clown aesthetic was probably inspired by Jester aesthetic from the beginning.
Not a lot of people like Caine I see. Surprising for me, cause he has heavy Bill Cipher vibes whos loved by his fandom. Its the type of characters that I enjoy very much

Desite the similarities their setting. Despite both being control freaks, Bill was more like an uninvited guest while Caine is the Party Host who won't let his guests leave.
when i first saw him and his voice i immediately felt "Spamton" from him, with the fast paced talking, heterochromia, even the voice made me think of him like from fan renditions.
I am already in love with pomni and jax. I cant wait to see how this show unfolds

@@sketchyskies8531 ADC is based off of a story called "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream", where an evil AI has killed everyone on the planet except for a group of humans who it tortures and then heals them back for eternity.
13:57 I've watched like a dozen reacts (after watching the original for myself first, of course), and it took the whole episode and then some to get the names! Now that I've seen this episode so much that I know it by heart, the movement of everything is pretty okay, a well-oiled, absolutely insane machine. But to a newcomer, like us, or like pomni, it's just random crap happening all around us (her) at an uncomfortable speed. Caine especially, shouting in an announcer voice at a mile a minute
Existential dread is an untapped market in mainstream horror, I really hope there are more episodes. So many questions go unanswered... like who tf is Caine and why does he have Bill Cipher powers?
The company name C&A is probably something like "Caine and Abel", which fits since Caine was punished by being forced to wander around some unspecified area (I assume it's meant to be the void here). Maybe he made a deal with the devil that lets him trade abstracted humans for his freedom or maybe he just discovered powers in the eternity he's been wandering around.
The OST is harrowing, the character animation are industry / big team levels of smooth and I'm excited to see what comes next.
well whatever it is, Caine's not intentionally trapping or keeping humans there since it's been confirmed that he isn't evil, rather just some sort of AI that doesn't understand human psychology very well.
@@freerobux49 Caine and abel, that sounds interesting, I thought it was something more silly, like a ripoff of the CIA, like if it was a digital thingy made by the government.
I saw a bunch of filmcow animations so each time I see something CIA related, I get an extra laugh out of me.
@@freerobux49 Caine in the bible did kill his brother, but it was intended in the name of God so it's kind of a grey line whether he did it because he's evil. He's *absolutely* a psycho NPC for doing that though
I was talking to my sister that a good horror movie would be where you see a team going in to take care of the monster and the team does everything right, only for them to still die, a monster that no matter how good you are, it will eventually get you, instead of the stupid main characters that make all the wrong choices
@@mrtoast244 umm what? The point is that Caine isn’t doing anything and therefore connecting it to Caine from the Bible doesn’t work since Bible Caine did something intentionally.
Unless you’re saying Caine doing what he can to help them, and not being able to do something he doesn’t know how to do, makes him like Bible Caine “psycho”.

I agree with most of your takeaways on this show, Shark. It seems indie animation is becoming a lot more common recently and not being tied to a network means you have pretty much full creative freedom, which leads to a lot of indie series feeling absolutely unhinged. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, as long as they remember to have an actual plot and compelling characters as well.
Half of the time was with fever and audio math 😡

I'd say it certainly lived up to the premise and apart from "Able " and "Spoiled" I've no idea where it might go.
Commenting 6 months after the fact and when the second episode came out, I think the second episode is a lot better than the first one, though the pilot is still very good. The thing with pilots is that they have to establish a lot of things, making it difficult to tell a coherent story with investing in. I think they managed to find a good balance, thanks in part to Caine blasting through a lot of it in the beginning through his manic, rapid-fire delivery, though this might mean people need to rewatch some stuff in order to fully absorb everything he was spitting out. If nothing else, the pilot offers a lot of intrigue, plus I was more captivated by the music, the voice acting, and ESPECIALLY the animation; like seriously, I can't think of any other 3D CG animated thing that looks and moves quite like this show does, it's mesmerizing!
Incidentally, I recommend checking out the channel "Kevin Temmer Tunes", he's the lead animator of this show and his other animations are just as bizarre as this.
So Pomnis name is Russian for “Remember”, which is most likely intentional as Gliches other Show “MurderDrones” does have a character that only speaks in Russian.
Also it’s been confirmed by the writer that Caine is an Ai and is not evil. He is infact trying to keep the inhabitants sane and wants to help them but doesn’t understand humans all too well
Why did they ruin the mystery? I wanted to ponder on if he was just as stuck as they were.

@@bungiecrimes7247 Well there are still other mysteries such as how did they get in the computer? Who programed Caine? Is there an Abel? Who's moved the Exit door into the circus? (If we have another AI named Able maybe they're the one tormenting the humans, would be kind of ironic if Abel ends up being the Evil AI of the two....)

I feel like Kinger and Queener (im guess that was her name) Were siblings, Kingler is the younger sibling, because he built a pillow fortress and was a Insect collection, and Queener was the old sibling Wanting to find a way out of the digital circus to save her young brother, but she was abstructed, leaving kinger alone in the circus
Would make sense if Kinger wasn't 48
I like to think that kinger and queener were ex-workers on the game and got sucked inside and when queenger died he went mad. The insect collection referring to bugs, the same bugs that trapped him In here and or killed his gf.
I think Kinger may be an Ice King type character (minus the villain part), a once wise man who gone crazy because the loss of their loves one, presume to be the black queen character. His talk about how digital world work near the episode end actually show some high intelligence, and the insect collection sound more like a typical hobby that some professor would have. Also, gooseworx had publish the characters age, Kinger is 48, the oldest of the group.

I think this is the first reaction that I feel kinda disappointed with, gave me the impression that this show's probably not for you. Idk you seemed bored the entire time, talking over some good moments and the comedy didn't hit as I thought it would.
This is a reaction that I definitely think needed pauses inbetween to digest what happened. He had trouble comprehending stuff as he was trying to adjust the volume and the tone, which led to a lot of things going through one ear and out the other.
