ECO 9.1.8 - EP5 - Creating a Global Currency!! Mint, Treasury, Bank, & Massive Base Expansion!

- I create a global currency and back that currency with gold ore that is produced by all the players to both fund the government and themselves. I also build rooms for a Mint, Treasury, and Bank, to use the currency and show how to back this global currency with a self-perpetuating system using gold ore. We also make bricks for a massive base expansion and complete rework, and start making cement which angers our neighbors for being heavy polluters!

You could hire a miner to crush shale for you with your own crushing machine and a Job Board, that would let you get a quicker turnaround time on the whole thing.
That's very true, there are a couple of other ways, and you bring up a great point I should talk about in a future video! :D It's shown that applying labor to a machine or setting one of the new work parties doesn't stimulate trade and healthy economic flow - it allows players without an earned skill to create anything they want, which circumvents a lot of the gameplay and what work parties were envisioned to be about. It can also lead to a lot of abuse, particularly for new and unwary players who essentially give away their skill for a handful of calories, and calorie input alone make it hard to account for the product, effort involved to get it, the factors of consumables versus rarity versus mass use, etc. Great point to bring up for discussion - I've heard many debates both ways about it!
@@Oearth Oh yeah, Work Parties are a really interesting subject. It basically allows rich players to run factories and give other players factory jobs essentially to reap the rewards. On the other hand it's very useful for when you need some large batch orders to deal with something, like crushing slag, making sand for glass, etc. Also very handy for government research.

soo one issue that could show up, you stop accepting gold to only have soo much money in your world... then a new player joins the server, but cant turn in gold to get money.. and if by that time everyone else is using the money and NOT bartering, well it makes it more difficult to get money as a new player unless you get lucky and find someone willing to buy the raw material in the first place... this is assuming your people are not doing contracts with each other as well as the government you have set up... just one of those things that could in theory happen...
The mint is starting to be open and closed some, but there are so many opportunities for new players on this server, the new folks have been able to enough money to start driving around in a truck in no time! Even very base things like raw stones are being bought all over the place. I know what you’re talking about though, and some servers do sort of lock out new players by not actively keeping opportunities open.
makes me almost want to join yours.. biggest issue now is internet, i'm on satelite with limited gb a month, and its shared with other computers...
@Oearth, How did you setup the law to prevent players from minting more currency than the set amount you wanted per day? I have a mint currency law that will trigger a Prevent action should someone try to mint more than 100 currency every 24 hours in a time block.. Do you have a screenshot of the law that worked for you?
Hey Etep! The law didn’t control the minting, but controlled the amount of gold that could be picked up per day, and used a custom stat counter tied to the citizen. The amount of minting is controlled by the Treasurer. They sell the gold to the mint store, and it stays in that repository until we need to mint more. I still may try to get you that screen shot though! Hope your server is doing well!!
@Oearth Hi Oearth, would you be willing to post some law examples publicaly? I think you have some very cool ideas, so it would be great help and inspiration for me (as newbie) and others. I would be also interested especially regarding currency related laws. Great series! I've learned so much from you already!

If you play single player, then there isn't an economy aspect to the game, so no need for a Store. You can still make one for looks, but you can't do anything with it. Thanks, and hope you're enjoying the channel!
@@Oearth 1) before i buy eco ...i think i missunderstand about shop....what i see from steam video it say you can buy/sell with other goverment/server....it really possible if server trade between server? Or i missunderstand about this

Trading is only within 1 server. When I say Government,
governments are set up inside a server. When starting out, you just mine by hand...that's really as fast as it gets.
You never go over explaining how to intentionally inflate or deflate the economy, as well as the usefulness of alternative currencies to gatekeep certain activities, or intentionally making it an effort to mint the currency for the player so that the value of the currency itself is made virtually higher than if they could just walk down the road with a wagon and get it themselves which also slows inflation.
how do i make a government bank account?
The initial Government Treasury Account is made for you when you create your first currency. After that, you can use the "Bank" (a separate game item made by a smelter I believe), to create other Government Accounts and apply different permissions to access any of those accounts.

Permission to accounts are set in the Bank object. Once in the Bank. You select an account, and then can appoint people to Administrate or Manage the account. The difference being an account administrator can both use the account and add other managers, and Managers can only use the account account to withdraw or add money to it.

Can you explain a little more on precisely what you mean by "control" - what aspect of control? Create separate government fund accounts? Provide access to government accounts to others? Create taxes that control input into a government account? Control the outflow of money from a government account to citizens via subsidies? It's a very broad question. :)

If you press "Y" and open the economy viewer. You'll see a Transfer option in the bottom right I believe. From there you can choose the Treasury account to transfer money from into any other account you have access to,
