I know, on the surface, Knox, it might sound funky but if you think about it, you are the added value we didn't know we needed until we heard you. Thank you! (btw, I'm not sure Joe will stand for your shout-out to Vik on the Wolf's behalf! You might be getting into the fray! Hahaha.)
I totally respect his thoroughness and experience, but I find that I personally absorb a lot more when I'm listening properly. There's a lot to be said for respecting the narrative flow.
And, yes I know he's a "reactor", but I definitely prefer reactors who stop the track less often, and analyse a longer, more coherent chunk of the track, instead of every single bar one by one.
I'm just saying this, on the off chance that he respects feedback at all. Imho, 84% commentary to 16% music kills the vibe every time, no matter how good the track was before.
Knox doing, say a 70/30 reactor to content ratio would be a dream come true of mine
Edit: the only exception to that rule would be anyone rapping 10 syllables per second, like King ISO. But Knox doesn't react to him for some reason. Maybe too much for even him to catch, which would be fair

The thing is that his rapid mind catches so much going on in seconds from bars, cadence, switches to musical production & sound effects that if he didn't stop it as it comes up, he's going to end up leaving out so much of what he noticed even 30 seconds ago and then we miss out on the fine detail that we're here for

A detail for the line of the 'Drums of Moria' that ties it with the previous lines (not a fan of Hip-Hop but I am a fan of Ren, Tolkien and The Lord of the Rings [I have read and reread the book many times over the years], the detail is as follows: those who play the drums in Moria are the hosts of Sauron, the Dark Lord, the King of the Ring, that is, Orcs and Trolls (Trolls and Haters are a social media plague, especially in this age of cancel culture) and that unites him to the line of ying and yang because he says that he is the King of the Ring (meaning that he is light and dark alternately).
Ying and Yang is a concept of Taoism, ancient Chinese philosophy condensed in the Tao Te Ching (attributed to Lao-Tse or Lao Tsu).
Vik's line about the dentist and nitrous gas is a reference to a cult movie directed by Frank Oz: 'Little Shop of Horrors' (1986) and is linked to 'wanting someone else's girlfriend'.
This track and Losing It are hyper danceable and could well be hits at any club for the benefit of DJs and dancers.
Ren is an artist of multiple genres and mediums of expression and cannot be put in any box or given any special label. I particularly like blues, jazz, rock, soul, funk, reggae and classical music and I like Ren because he can include things from many of those genres and styles in his compositions (and also because he's an authentic and independent artist, which you don't see much these days).

PS: During the 'French May' (1968) graffiti was painted on the walls of Paris with the phrase: 'Gandalf to power' because Tolkien's characters were symbols of youth rebellion and the counterculture of that time. I was shaped by the counterculture of the 60s and 70s (influenced by the Beat Generation, Pop Art, hippies and Psychedelia, etc.). Now, Ren is also talking about a 'new counterculture' and that's something I like about him too.

Back in the early 90's, the UK's charts were full of tunes with people rapping over electronic music. Ren's love of 90's musical subcultures is really showing through here, not just hiphop. KLF, The Shamen and even super poppy stuff like Betty Boo to name some of the artists that might be recognisable rap-rave/rap-pop by the average commercial radio listener back then. Of course, there were very many much harder versions of these types of tunes in the underground clubs and raves at the time and this tune reminds me a lot of those tunes.
Grime is kinda similar. It's it own thing now but grew out of rapping and MCing over other styles of rave tunes (this time mostly UK Garage and maybe a bit of oldschool/Jungle).
Ren is a very worldy musician but I wonder if he ever got to listen to Hoodlum Priest who at the time was one of my favourite genre blender artists back then. I've always loved artists that just do their own thing and fuck everyone else.

So much talent in Ren. And it's so awesome to see that he won't box himself into a genre, and just let the art and music speak for itself like a true artist. From classic rock, Ska, ballads, rap, and if he feels like it he just drops a sick House anthem. He is also super nice with the genre blending making whatever he feels like. I think that is one thing that just sets him apart from so many others, and why so many get pulled into his music and artistry. He won't be confined or boxed into a genre. It's amazing to see when someone just appreciates all types of music and how they incorporate that into their own music.

This is the first reaction I saw that properly caught the doctor bars! Also the first to acknowledge the Moria drum bars! This why I love watching this channel. Catches so so much, breaks down the beats, and just all round educational on each song that gets broken down. Amazing.
That "Hey Cera" part with how Ren pronounces it also taps onto the old song "Que Sera" which people use as a way of saying "Whatever will be, will be". It was a song in the Alfred Hitchcock film "The Man Who Knew Too Much".

Knox glad to see you back. Good that you enjoyed Devon/Cornish coast and that you felt welcomed in the UK. I saw you on REN’s Twitch and enjoyed what you were saying. Love this new Ren track, and yes Knox there was a philosopher called Yan Ying known as Yanzi best known for the quote “The light is the left hand of darkness” and “We are all the Yin Yang of the creative process” and “To understand the nature of things we must seek the light and the shade in all living things”. I love the way Ren chops the mix and shouts out the African American origins of rap with the Zulu caps and lions. The subtle anti drugs message regards what drugs do i.e. they ruin your teeth and don’t leave you laughing. Well the others chat shit, but just end up wrapping drugs not making money from rapping bars.
Best of all this track has such a poppin’ beat, that gets better with every play.
I love the fact that after your analyses I can recognise / hear more elements and sounds in the song ♥️💪🏽

I can't believe I have been following you for 3 years and I can remember seeing yr subs compared to other reactors and not understanding why you weren't like the most subbed to... here we are a few years later and you are killing it with the breakdowns, over 1mil subs. People have learned that it's more interesting to hear a deep thinking take on a song than just watching someone watch a song,and saying what they thought about it later. I was watching yr videos and gaining knowledge about more things than just hip hop, and it didn't make sense that others didn't want to learn about making better flows,and cadences, and the mixing. I guess being a musician who has recorded tracks since high school, and had a big appreciation for good hip hop, growing up on Eminem, I was naturally intrigued by your input. I listened to some of these songs since I was 10 and still yr pointing stuff out I never caught. Plus all the other knowledge you have.
I'm not trying to get brownie points or nothing, I'm just very happy that you are finally passed a milestone that was well deserved.
