We use a gravity flow system to our home. We have to clean out our storage tank once per year. We have to clean out the collection point 2 or 3 times during the rainy season (Western Oregon, the rainy season is November through April, approx.) We use a portable compressed air tank to blow the sediment out of the lines.

How often has it been suggested that the Rhodes team create a maintenance calendar? I guess that content would not be as exciting or If it doesn't include heavy equipment, it just wouldn't be done. Happy to see all the tomatoes and house nearing completion.
Yes. Maintenance is a regular job. It might be better to clean those sediment issues on the last day of every month rather than the first....then you start the month with that chore DONE. Just my opinion.

A suggestion for years going forward with growing tomatoes for fresh eating AND canning... Grow DETERMINATE bush varieties outside the greenhouse in the gardening rows. Determinate varieties will produce all their fruit within a 1-2 week window. Perfect for planning your canning time around, and you can always still use part of the greenhouse for the fresh eating indeterminate types (continuous flowering & putting on fruit) and use them in your canning. With that new farm kitchen in the renovated house coming online soon, having the bulk of your paste and canning type tomatoes as determinates would make life a whole lot easier and free up greenhouse space for more heat loving crops, and you can still add in whatever extra indeterminate types are available at that time as a bonus. Also... with the chore that "hiking the mountain" has become and the routine need for it in order to assure water for the cattle... might be a very smart move to take time this fall/winter/spring to carve out a less steep road for side by side access to your spring boxes for easier and more timely maintenance of the water lines, since they play such an important part in your farm and livestocks lives.

Lily would like the movie “Harry and Snowman”. It’s a lovely story about a rescue farm horse and the man who saved him from the slaughter truck. He became a great jumper.
The fridge needs to be able to vent/breath and help it stay cool. Even if it vents from the front, building it in on the sides retains heat from the motor. I would leave the top open.

DO YOU WATCH ALL THE TIME?? I have been watching since 2017 & believe me they have lots of time to adventure themselves & with others. They are building their own futures as well. They are teenagers so you don't have to believe their faces at every moment. They adore being in this family. Justin didn't have this much freedom when he was young helping his father. and He loved his Pop "Boots"!

most people use a sediment trap BEFORE the tank.... now you know why!!
I use a battery powered automatic water valve set for 1 minute every 6 hours to clean out sediment! 👍🏽😊❤️🇺🇸
