either Reynolds is with George all the time now or he died before the show began.
I'm assuming some plots from Charlotte will roll over to season 3 of Bridgerton, so maybe we'll see an older Reynolds.
@@agenttheater5 he is most likely with george do to his mental illness later on there were many attempts to put george away from ruling as well as several conflicts due to napoleon as well as slavery and usa so taking as consideration charlotte age in bridgerton they must likely apart the same way charlotte and george had to be regardless of how much they loved eachother
This was seriously the absolute best part of the show. He still seems terribly in love with Reynolds given how he teared up at the mention of marriage. I wonder if Reynolds died? I refuse to believe they broke up!!
I saw a theory that said Reynolds pain over seeing the King worsen made him leave the kings service :( just a theory of course, but this one hurts considering their bath scene, where they agree to serve them together for a lifetime 😭😭
I think he died but I also could see him leaving because of the emotional toll of taking care of the king. Reynolds’s was already having a very difficult time when King George started the torturous treatments again. To see his health decline might have been too much for him.
In the book Reynolds and the King are childhood friends...
But I can't imagine Reynolds leaving the King for any reason besides being sick or death...

@@nikkijohnson983 according to the actor that plays old brimsley reynalds is still alive but the scene with them crossing paths in the castles was cut out so i assume just as charlotte is away from george regardless of how much they love eachother reynolds might be with the king still caring for him but away from brimsley and somewhere along the way they broke up

How sad and bittersweet -- they could only be together when George/Charlotte were together but because of the madness issue Charlotte and George spent time apart. Neither Reynolds nor Brimsley would give up their station/position as they had attained the highest possible level for servants. Each of them were loyal to those they served, so they wouldn't quit. As the years progressed and Charlotte/George were living separate lives it makes sense that the household staff would see each other rarely. Seeing Brimsley dance by himself was sad, as well as his response to Charlotte about not having any family -- she was all he had as he couldn't be with Reynolds. Their entire relationship was determined by the relationship of the king and queen.

I'm happy with how popular the couple is. Hopefully this will be a sort of breakthrough for mm historical romance in media. I mean I've seen a few like Maurice, but nothing really recently. So many good authors out there. KJ Charles, Joana Chambers, Devon Summer...Give one of them a Netflix series!!

Funnily enough I was looking through their work and settled on it. Magpie series isn't quite calling to me and this was next.
there's also an incredible series called Versailles about Ludwig XIVth. His brorther was gay and also his broher's character is just amazingly written imo. Give it a shot if u haven't!
I loved their love stroy so much, it felt so real. Two servants, loyal to a fold who love each other deeply... I hope they lived a happy life together

I am snot crying when Brimsley danced alone and looked over into the distance with such love, as if Reynolds was there. But he wasn’t. Which led me to believe that he was no longer with the living.
They were definitely the best part of the series 🥹🥹🥹
Their love made my heart stir in a way the others didn't. Mostly because they were both the most socially vulnerable but at the same time the most powerful people in the kingdom. Two men in their position would be the toast of society, sitting at the apex.

For those wondering what happened to Reynolds, the actor who plays Brimsley said in an interview that there was a deleted scene where Brimsley goes to meet an older Reynolds and he was seen with the love of his life, so for whatever reason, they couldn't stay together because of the time period.
Edit: I misread the article 😅. It said Reynolds was the love of his life but they could not stay together because of duty to the king and queen.
if this is true, then they kept it out for a reason and I really hope that reason is for them to have a season 2 or show up in season 3 of bridgerton where they reconcile. It was always Reynolds that held himself back out of the two, maybe he regrets it and wants Brimsley back? One can hope.. 😭😭💔💔
I'm glad they deleted it. I like that they left their ending ambiguous because then we can imagine they had a long and happy relationship.

The love story of Brimsley and Reynolds really was the saving grace of the entire spin-off. While I feel the other plotlines were predictable, tiring and without depth, those two still made me smile and sigh every now and then!

you know what I love about that scene in the kitchen. Is how Reynolds laughs its not a cruel or demeaning laugh but a sweet and open one. The kind you have when something truly unexpected comes your way because to him the notion of being with someone else is truly ridiculous. I'm sure if he could he would've kissed his worry away and said I think I quite like you jealous.

I think Reynolds is still serving the King at Kew. At least then Brimsley can meet Reynolds when the Queen visits the King.
Brimsley said everyone (incl Reynolds) serves the King. But he serves the queen. And the bath scene said that if the Queen and King grow old together, so could Brimsley and Reynolds.
But he's not, the final scene let clear he doesn't work for the king anymore or he would have been there as he was during the whole show every time, if he would have been there then we would have had the parallel of them standing in the door side by side but not the case. Also, the bath scene talks about how if everything goes fine, it didn't with Charlotte and George, they are not really together, it didn't go well, it hints to the same happening to Reynolds and Brimsley, they also had their tragic ending, but by the way it was presented and knowing he doesn't work for the king anymore, their finale was by death.
I don't think death is confirmed. Nothing has outright said Reynolds is dead
Likely the showrunners left Brimsley's and Reynolds' ending open so they could explore it in Bridgerton or another spin-off.

If we do get another season I'm more interested in knowing if Brimsley will tell Charlotte about Reynolds. I want to know what happened to him of course but I also want to know if anyone else will find out. I think what makes missing him harder is that he can't talk about it, because when I picture him saying anything about it I picture him talking about the happiness they shared and how they were as close they were to being married as anyone could be and had no need for a priest to make it official, but that what makes his loss harder is being unable to share his loss with anyone.

The story of Brimsley and Reynolds is sweet, but also tragic in a way. This story takes place in medieval times, a time period where same-sex relationships were frowned upon and people found to be in a same-sex relationship were either executed or forced to marry the opposite sex. Since Reynolds is out of the picture by the end of the story, it is believed that he was either put to death by order of the king, or forced to marry a woman. It’s possible that someone found out that Reynolds was gay, informed the king, and the king had Reynolds promptly dealt with. Whether Reynolds was killed or forced to marry a woman is unknown, but I hope we eventually find out what became of him and why he and Brimsley never ended up together.
I remember that in the book, Charlotte and George know about their relationship and George always knew about Reynolds’ taste in men. The actor playing Brimsley said they had a deleted scene were Reynolds and Brimsley met at their old age. So I assume that Reynolds is maybe always by George’s side, as he is really sick?
