They would of obviously referenced it off something, and I'm not talking about them referencing off this song. I mean, then again I can't say anything because I've only played piano for 3 years and this person is probably an expert.

An octave is basically 8 notes up it can be high or low
Try imagine that you're singing Do Re Mi Fa ...... until you reach another Do . You will notice that the second Do is higher pitched than the first Do ( we say that the second Do is one octave higher than the first Do ) . It's just the same note , but at different pitch
