I am about 26 minutes in, and the repetitive blame on bad communications is just plain BS. I call BS on that. Sure the pandemic makes travel much more risky and difficult. Sure they have many people speaking different languages from all over the world. First and foremost, if you are going to tell me that you can't have a meeting with people via internet hosting, you're an idiot WG. Second, I have found that as far as printed stuff goes, washing it (Russian) through Google Translate to English, back and forth to test if it keeps its meaning, is generally pretty accurate, and I know that WG has on-site and on-staff almost 30 native language speakers JUST FOR TRANSLATION. And yet you still blame translation as the problem. If international businesses such as banks and construction companies had this level of incompetence, they would fail, plain and simple. I believe the problem is not translation. Its that WG's ears are packed full of shit and their brains are turned off, because they are too busy screaming "PAY ME SOME RESPECT!!!" and "YOU GIVE ME MONEY!!!". WG you are just full of it. WG's mindset is the problem, plain and simple. Every issue they have as a game, the players give feedback on, and the CC's have always given great feedback on. WG just ignores it, in favor of spreadsheets and "data". Has no one in Russia/Belarus ever realized that any data set can be manipulated to show and prove anything you want? Hell, your people don't even play your own damn game publicly!! You have no idea how the game and ships actually play in the first place, beyond what you do on a protected server!! And different servers have different meta's, depending on the player base. People think and play differently on the different servers because their languages are different, which means how they think and process information is different.
Ok I am off topic. What I am saying is that almost every issue the players have with WG, WG blames on communication. Communication can be defined as the flow and EXCHANGE of ideas and information. The exchange part is critical because it describes the action behind communication. It expressly implies that information must flow in multiple directions, i.e. two-way communication between 2 people. WG is a business, and the purpose of a business is to make the owners money. Plain and simple. BUT, just because you are a business doe not mean I must pay you. I can choose where to spend my $$. And if, as a business, WG has poor communication, treats their customers poorly, or has a poor quality product, then exactly WHY should I pay for a shit product with crappy customer service and shit quality?? The answer is I WILL NOT. Just as WG does not exist to provide me with entertainment, "I" do not exist to provide them with a paycheck. They forgot that rule of business. I guess they missed that communication.......
EDIT: OK Victor, how is this for clear and respectful communication? GO FUCK YOURSELF. You guys are a fucking complete JOKE. You insist on DEMANDING respect, yet again, and yet you refuse to GIVE respect at all to anyone. Just because someone has something to say that you don't like or they are asking questions you don't want to answer, does not mean you should treat them like shit, ban them, silence or bully or intimidate them. So again: GO FUCK YOURSELF. If you want to take it up with me in person I will GLADLY send you my address. You can come see me directly for some one on one, in person direct communication. BYOBB.

Starting in 2016, all games in China must announce to the public the probability of obtaining paid random items in the game, including the success rate of equipment enhancement, gacha rate, lootbox drop, and so on. It is very irresponsible from the WG side for using "China" as an excuse not to announce the drop rate.

Disagree with their Ops assertions. They've not had enough content in the mode, nor mission and rewards support for the mode for it to be worth most players time. A prime example is only having the one Op on weekly rotation... Why would you queue for that when it's same thing over and over?
The thing is, I get it takes a lot of work to develop new Ops, but if they'd kept doing 1-2 a year since release, they'd have the variety of content needed to support the mode properly.
It's a simple matter of they've not devoted the resources necessary to properly support the mode, be it missions, campaigns, content.

  • @arrrgee
    @arrrgee Před 2 lety +51

The apology is gated with clauses throughout with most "promises" being made with get out of jail comments like "further work needs to be done", "this is not final" etc, so essentially it's a disguised statement that looks like they are saying we will do a lot, but in actuality nothing will change that effects their bottom line, this is just a damage control statement to try and calm the playerbase.
Also, "We always follow laws" is just a flat out lie, they have been caught out doing illegal things and have quickly offered refunds to avoid getting prosecuted in the past, they skirt very close to breaking the law which is why they make so much money, hence countries looking at gambling legislation being altered to cover online content to restrict their current methods of making money by exploiting young people.

    • @taccovert4
      @taccovert4 Před 2 lety +3

They do 'follow every law'. They follow it right to the ragged edge, and if they cross it, then they hurry up and backtrack so they aren't punished. They also closely follow new laws so they know how much they can get away with. The laws are guidelines for them in how bad they can be without being punished, rather than IDK, having actual ethics.

The problem with this is it's all still words. The people at the top, who've overseen everything that has happened and the steady creep of the aggressive monetization are still going to be there. How can we as customers have any confidence that anything will change if it's the same people in charge?
My issue with the whole "We're a widely dispersed team across multiple countries" is that only becomes an issue when teams don't bother to communicate with each other. It takes effort and extra coordination but plenty of businesses manage to work across time zones and continents without major issue. What that line says to me is "We don't put the effort into making sure our teams coordinate".
At least now we know the identity of the person who's made the CV Rework the hill to metaphorically die on. Bardovsky has been (from my understanding) in charge of the "creative vision" of WOWS since 2017, which makes the CV Rework his sign off and that he (Again, my understanding anyway) controls all the metrics, direction and budget of the entire game which means he's either not been paying any attention to the product he is responsible for, or has actively pushed for CV's, gambling mechanics and the general toxicity to go in the direction they have.

I too work in a big organisation with many, many layers, so I can see how being "in the weeds" possibly isn't this guys thing as he's more strategic and big picture from a business perspective. As such, there is a chance that the moderators etc at the "low" level are reporting things up, but as they have to go through SO many payers of people that their messages / shouts of alarm / shouts for help get filtered and / or diluted, so teh big bosses didn't get to hear it.
Until the results of the business performance (as opposed to the gameplay stats) came through. And no, I'm not defending anyone, just stating what can happen in big organisations.

But here's the problem. Good will. They've ran out of that ages ago, with the shenanigans they pulled time and time again, with the half assed excuses. The only reason that post exists is that the looked at their beloved metrics and saw that ignoring the issue was financially damaging them. So they said what they expect people wanted to hear, and put the timeframe long enough not to do anything today. For instance, loot box percentages (as iChase pointed out). They have zero reason not to come out with those numbers today. The only reason they do it in China is that their laws forces them to disclose the numbers (Blizzard has complied to that as well, and that's when the cat came out of the bag). The only plausible reason they arent releasing the numbers in EU\NA is that no law forces them to do the same... for now.
This is all smoke and mirrors. More promises that wont be kept, and "continue whaling for us" written all over it. It's at the point that walking away from the game is the better option. Their real plans for the future is the same they're doing today. Milk their costumers the most they can, issue fake apologies when caught being too greedy, and ignore any and all criticism regarding any issue of the game. That's Wargaming. You dont need to endure any of it. Just walk away.

The time where you could actually "own" the copy of a game are long gone since publishers switched to the "game as a service" model. That switch by itself is however not the issue, since it effectively ensures that the developers continue to get an income and can thus continue to evolve the game. The counterpart to that would be to release a game and, since it won't produce any further income, develop a new one which they can sell on its own.
      --
Given the choice between an unfinished new game, a half-baked remake of a remake and a "game as a service" (which deserves to be called as such), I'd honestly choose the latter. The problem is however that a publisher's greed starts to kick in as soon as they hear "game as a service". Instead of only selling "premium time" (as in an increased experience/chash gain), they try to sell overpriced and overpowered items. By that they turn the "game as a service" idea into a perversion of what that description could mean.

We'll 'improve'." followed by a huge, "BUT LOOK AT THIS SHINY NEW STUFF WE MIGHT (not) GIVE YOU (the opportunity to buy [gamble for])!!!!"
But guess what no amount of apologies, doubloons, broken ships, and empty statements can buy? Respect. Respect is earned and when you have a collective respect as an entire company, every one of your employees are handicapped down to that level of respect. The one company who's lost both public trust and respect does not have the right to demand any thing any more. They have to earn that all back.
I don't know your entire content history, sorry I'm visiting again, but something that would really intrigue me would be a multi part series of the ships of Pearl Harbor. The Arizona is the most known of them all due to it being an active battleship and it taking so many sailors with her, but there were a lot of ships that were sunk that were also salvaged and fought in the war, and they weren't just BB's. I am still very skeptical of WG's words, and how empty they've been in the past. But, at the same time, I don't really see what they could've said alternatively. Put simply, WG has been forced into a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation: either acknowledge and respond to the exodus/feedback with words that will assuredly be called empty, or don't say anything and convince the player base you're as cold as they think you are.
The fact that they at least acknowledged the problems is a step in the right direction, and is more than what we've seen from WG in pretty much the last 2-3 years.
It's entirely possible that this is just more empty words and that nothing will happen, as per usual. In fact, I'd say that's the probable conclusion given how WG has managed to practically burn all of its goodwill with the player base over the past couple of years. That being said, I appreciate that they at least appear to acknowledge the problems, and it's a step in the right direction.
We'll have to wait and see.

There is a bit of a problem still behind this though, some of my friends who voiced their opinions and what not on the World of Warships stream and were banned talking about lootboxes, or monetization and mentioning about gambling in general. Even though the feedback was constructive. I wondered what were the type of questions and read them as they were and couldn't understand it.
With that in mind though, there are some countries who had banned games with gambling mechanics. In fact someone I know over here has approached whoever runs the legalisation and classification of the games here where I live and made a voice about it. Mind you though I can see a lot of new potential issues in going forward.
If WG were to change, and from what I've read not all of it is that bad but they say one thing, promises were made and can be broken. Its really thinning out the faith and trust in them. I am however hoping for a positive change but it will be rough in the next few years to get there

WG wanted to eliminate the old timers in the CC program, as you were the ones, after being disrespected for years, who were no longer presenting feedback in a reasoned and constructive way according to WG rules.
Scene: St. Petersburg 2 years ago
Dimitri: Yuri, we need to get rid of all the CC's we've been ignoring. They are getting too loud!
Yuri: Who is the most respected CC?
Dimitri: That pain in the ass Little White Mouse. She is always testing the ships, finding out what we were trying to hide, then telling everyone about it. Marketing is furious with her.
Yuri: Ok, that is good, we go after her first then. Get her to quit, maybe suck her into thinking she is helping with a ship, then pull the rug out, insult her a few times.
Dimitri: Alright, she's gone. What about the rest?
Yuri: Is simple Tovarich. That credit busting ship, the Missouri, we put it behind loot boxes for all the new players, no extra credits, and we nerf what the old players were making.
Dimitri: Good, but I don't understand. How does that solve our CC problem?
Yuri: Is simple, we make it seem like the loot boxes are gambling, which they really are, and with this one two three punch they all quit in disgust. Good riddance!
Dimitri: But if it's gambling what do we say?
Yuri: No problem. We voluntarily raise our ratings to only prey on 12 and above and issue the same pabblum we've been feeding the players, just more so. The Director will do it.
Dimitri: That's genius! It could work! Yuri, what else are you doing?
Yuri: My best yet! Loot boxes for players who don't want to play games with CV's in them. Remember Dimitri, it's a long game we are playing!

The question is, will they carry through with all these plans they talked about... We'll see, but I kind of doubt it. WG does not have a good track record in this area.

Empty words! The reason being that anything WG does is subject to commercial considerations they will NEVER expose to the community, or for that matter to anyone outside the company. The only reaction that they will understand is that as many players as possible close their wallets consistently and indefinitely.
