Bravo! This is such a great film! It's a minimalist drama with great depth, a superb script, outstanding flash-foreword editing, yet the director made this gem of a film linear enough so as not to confuse the viewers. Hollywood couldn't make a movie this good, even if they tried!
Mine was a 43 year difference. No one died, but my heart is irreparably crushed. Such inter-generational relationships can never work, as the younger of the two will be robbed of her future. Love cannot conquer the obvious. Soon he'll be gone and she'll be left alone . She deserves more out of life. Of all relationships on earth, these are the unlikeliest to occur, but when they do, they can never end well.

In spite of cuts to appease american puritans this movie survives as a group of old drinkers reimagining the end of the Franco era and sudden freedoms as a doomed love story between an old artist whose revolutionary spirit and lust for life is killed on the bloody 'red field of love 'embodied in Rosa Campos del Amor.
Totally understand how tramolis feels , he right, she right, but due to the fact that very few would accept a relationship between an older man and a young woman, people will label them both, thus a permanent relationship is impossible without being condemed by religious and deeply conservative jealous people, young men, older women, and anyone with a issue will condemn them. He took the easy way out! Good movie. Good movies are always worth watch again. Thank you, peace

the most natural and hated thing in the world is for an old man to love the charm and beauty of a 16 year old girl. it is also one of the most dangerous things he can do.
Why in the world would she said all those horrible things to the old man if she love him that much ? To hurt his feeling ? Didnt she realize how he love her ? Im feeling a bit angry since I've met with this kind of girl who enjoy playing with a mans heart. Its really painful.
