✅ Bobcat Toolcat Cutting an 8 Inch Tree - Clearing Brush and Trees for a Trail

  • I use this cutter to maintain several miles of trails as well as mow a few acres of field. I clear this brush and trees with my 2016 Bobcat Toolcat 5600. I use a MTL XC7 60" cut (68" overall width) hydraulic brush mower that has a 300lb flywheel and three 1ft long swing axes to take out some serious trees (6+ inches). The Toolcat is essentially a skid steer powertrain/hydraulic pump/quick attach plate setup so it can use all the same attachments. This cutter weighs about 1500lbs which is the rated operating capacity (ROC) for the Toolcat (meaning 50% of tipping weight, it can lift about 3k lbs).

This is why I like your channel you have all the nearest toys. Favorite part where you made it get up on his hind legs and you’re trying to push the tree over

Haha. This thing weights ~7500 lbs with the brush cutter so it was giving it all!

It seems like you may have enough flow for a real forestry mulcher but those are tens of thousands of bucks. Thanks for the video.

Exactly! enough flow but man those mulchers are expensive!

Looks like a great machine for your property. Suggest that you consider adding some weight to the box when using the mower. It would make your machine much more stable. At least give it a try.

Many do run weight in the bed. I also have a 3 point hitch that I could have on (with a 7ft box blade) but typically I find it too big a pain and not worth the hassle.

Does this Toolcat have the capability of running a forestry mulcher?Thinking of buying a Toolcat with Matracks. I need snow removal, tree mulching and be able to haul a bale of hay for horses on a farm.

With high flow the toolcat does about 27GPM which is enough to run some forestry mulchers. Engine/hydraulic wise the toolcat is equivalent to a Bobcat S570. I wouldnt suggest a toolcat for dedicated mulching duty but occasional should be fine.

So is this a high-flow deck? Or normal one?

@@coolmoodee so many options out there its hard to recommend one. Basic hydraulic angle is the cheapest like mine. V-Blades are nice. Flixed vs floating is another consideration. Fixed needed for back dragging.

@@NaterTater yeah I know what you mean. Ive never been a fan of thw V plow . I like a straight fixed blade for that reason . Also, I'd like one with a chain lift . That way if hydraulics go out for some reason .I can drive up a snow bank and and lift thw chain uo to raise the blade to keep driving

@@coolmoodee one unique one is Minnesota Implement Floating Snowplow that has the benefits of a chain or fixed plow.

You seriously have to keep that mower even when mowing on the ground.
