it's an unacceptable disgrace.I do home visit, vet check and long term/ lifetime followup of every pet I rescue and rehome. There is no reason whatsoever why every pound in America can't do the same. Local rescues would step up to help. I do my own and get called from rescues to do the home visits in my area, and I volunteer to do follow ups. If we individuals can do it, what's the excuse why a shelter with a bunch of staff can't? they are seeing these poor animals up to be abused, dumped, killed. No follow up means no one knows if the animal is being taken care of or dumped. This is just disgusting.
@@pattiannepascualit’s unrealistic to expect every dog to get a home this way. If every home was inspected and visited so many more animals would be euthanized.
@@LCx829 ??? so you rather they end up in homes where they are not properly cared for, tortured, sexually and physically abused, etc? The point was to ban anyone who ever took an animal to the pound from getting any more and put simple measures in place like mandatory spay and microchip in place. Mandatory spay alone would halt the millions of new births. Microchip would identify and severely punish, ban, all owners who allow their pets to run loose, leave them behind when they move, dump them in the streets, abuse and fight them. Landing the scums in jail would be the best detterant. I guess because I rescue, I have seen unimaginable horrors that the common person has no idea what is done to animals and how prevalent it is.
People getting rid off their pets is something beyond my understanding.. It's so sad.. You would like to adopt them all. They all need a home. Here in France the shelters are overcrowded. 😢
Giving pets away for free? If owners are that cheap to wait until the animal is free, they don't need to get a pet. Do you know how expensive PROPER pet food is? and every time I bring a rescue to the vet for a checkup and to check for deadly viruses, I get a bill around $600-$1000- The last dog had a mammary tumor, needed surgery, cost $7000 in the end or will these people who have problems paying a small donation to adopt just allow the animals to suffer and die? either from feeding garbage food which makes them sick in time, or whatever else goes wrong with the animal. If you can't afford good food and vet, please just don't get an animal.
@@pattiannepascual You're right we should just put all these shelter animals down now rather than finding them homes. How ridiculous you sound, honestly.
It worries me when they are for free. How do you know they getting the right homes? or not coming in the wrong hands 😢 pray they all getting the best loving forever home🍀🙏🙏🍀
Why aren't there strict laws for owners? Ban any who bring pets to the pound from having any more pets.Mandatory spay/neuter, current registered microchip of every single animal, with jail if law not followed will cut down on breeding and immediately identify owners who dump or abuse an animal. SIMPLE things that should have been in place decades ago.
Completely agree. I volunteer at shelters and foster and a lot of dogs are often coming from the same sources or areas over and over. It's a losing battle trying to house the constant sea of animals. Yet not much is done re getting out there to do community outreach, take a spay neuters van to areas with less fixed dogs or prosecuting the breeders/dumpers.
Can someone in Indian River County adopt through this event? Is there a way to look up the information such as available dogs, their stats, etc online to determine whether they want to make the trip to Plant City?
If the dog has a underlying medical condition make sure you have about $5,000 and savings to pay for a vet bill. Although I'm sure no one would adopt a sick my mom did the right thing in Adopt-A-Pet and it wound up costing her thousands and thousands beware of anything for free or use dog with no papers or medical certificate
I think it’s because dogs are so intelligent they can develop emotional problems . They’re expensive to train and once they bite they aren’t safe. My brother is a vet assistant and had to put down a six month old puppy just the other day for biting and injuring in two different homes. Sad but dogs do have a wild side .
People don't realize the responsibility when owning a pet. When the novelty wears off, or the pet is not what they expected they become disposable. Vet care is also very expensive. During the pandemic, people became lonely and thought owning a pet was the answer. Now many of these animals have been abandoned. When adopting, take it seriously when they say your animal is getting there "Forever Home."
I hope they are careful in adopting them out . unscrupulous people might try to adopt and then use them as bait dogs .Please thoroughly screen would be adopters.tThese dogs all need loving he homes
God bless these pups, praying these angels get there forever homes 🐾❤️
Forever home with an owner that is loving and caring matters!
Thank you for covering the adoption event
Ugh, free? What could go wrong? Hope it works out happily for all the pets 🤞

OMG... I love dogs. So many unwanted babies.
Love this !!
Hopefully they vet people properly. These dogs will end up in worse situations if not.
I highly doubt it.
😢 I want one but they cost too much
Don't care what breed but has to be smaller to med. Size.

If they didn't ask for an arm and a leg to adopt more would find homes' ..

Free is not a good idea, unless there is serious, and I mean SERIOUS vetting of the prospective new owners.
