    All the butthurt people in the comments. Wow. It's his car, let him do whatever he wants with it. Nobody bats an eye when someone puts a 2JZ in a 240, in place of a KA, even though they're both good engines, but the second someone puts a V8 in place of a rotary, it's the end of the fucking world.

    Hey I know that guy! He's definitely Keanu Rieves. This is what he does when the paparazzi aren't around.
    I can also confirm that the car is his daily, and that he has the engine out about every 4 months going thru it and tweaking something, so the bottom end will get done. It's a solid build that's well executed and maintained.
    A little history on the car, it's an '86 chassis that formerly had a race-prepped & stripped '89 NA S5 13B. The car was built to SCCA ITS class rules, but only raced 2 or 3 weekends before it was sold to a friend of mine. My friend owned it for about 10yrs and autocrossed and rallycrossed it during that time, then sold it to me. I daily drove it for a year, roadtripped it, autocrossed it, did one track day at Shawano in it, and ultimately took 2nd in novice class at Wisconsin Autosports Group's Shannon's Wild Ride Road Rallye out west of Madison with the car.
    I then sold it to Keanu here, who put the 5.0L and TT's in it, flared it, painted it, etc. He's put a lot of hard work into this car and it's a shitload of fun.
    Cheers

      +Arnoute13 Wankels have thier place, but a daily driven street car isn't the ideal scenario. If it was a track car and the 13b (not sure if this came with a 12a or 13b) was running fine as it was then yes, obviously I'd say go for it. But, when you're just prowling the street and want to have some fun, it's hard to pass up a cheap V8. You gain that peice of mind knowing it "should" be more reliable, and it's also nice having that bottom end grunt.

    One bad ass swap. Be nice if he can put on them new mustang gt 5.0 coyote engines in there. Those engines are already doing 400+hp stock. With twin turbo will be awesome. I've never owned a Mustang or anything with a mustang engine in it. But I have a feeling that he's going to have to build up that bottom end, as well as put lower compression Pistons if he wants to get the full potential of those twin turbos without getting detonation damage to his engine. Good video tho. Your videos are always entertaining.

    More torque! I like the build. It's different and looks clean. Only 400 hp?! That's the part that baffles me. All the money invested, (cage, tt's, motor swap etc..), and he's waiting to build the bottom end before he turns it up? All the work to just pull the motor again? Unless he was bull shitting. This car is far from ricer files. The dude maybe but who knows. The car is cool.

      Stock 5.0l blocks split around 450-500 hp. Not much of a point in turning the boost up now. It made 400whp /430tq @8psi. Could maybe up it to 12pounds and get the 450 but then risk blowing it up.

    • @alphazuluz
      @alphazuluz Před 9 lety +3

      +wtsig76 Brian Hinson (Hinson Supercars) was a friend of a friend back in college. He was one of the first people to do the LS1 swaps in RX7s. He was the first person to start selling the swap brackets (so I was told). I rode in his first RX7. It was the generation after the one in the video, with an LS1 with a mild cam and a 100 shot of nitrous. He said it was making about 350hp without the nitrous. It was INSANELY fast. That car was so light and hooked like nothing I've ever been in. If I remember correctly, he said it ran 11.1-11.2 without nitrous and mid 10s with the nitrous. I absolutely believe it.
      The reason I say this is because I bet the RX in the video is insanely fast with "just 400hp". I've been in lots of fast cars, and owned several (including a 650hp KB blown Cobra), but Brian Hinson's RX7 with less than 400hp was the most violent off the line and to 100mph. Oh, and that was all on 255mm tires on the stock rims. Not even drag radials. I couldn't understand how that thing hooked up so well.

      and i am speaking from experience when i say thats a slow motor. my friends mustang had the 5.0 HO motor in it and he would floor it and it would make a bunch of noise and go no where. im not talking crap about the car im impressed he did the swap but wasnt quite sure of the motor choice

      @davidusminimus Před 8 lety

      Why? please explain

    • @th600mike3
      @th600mike3 Před 8 lety

      davidusminimus well a gt28 has a smaller exhaust housing. You may spool up quicker, but youre going to run out of efficiency much quicker than on a 2 liter. Even with twins youd have to run the biggest exhaust a/r possible and biggest exhaust wheel you can to keep from running outside the efficiency islands for that turbo. Besides that, a lot of the "bigger" gt28's are actually just big compressors on a small exhaust wheel. Which means the turbo is prone to surging. Twin gt28's are a good idea for 2.5-3.5 even 3.8. Beyond that though its somewhat small for a v8. Revving to 7k a twin gt28 setup would probably just be pushing hot air and be restricting exhaust flow.
      A properly sized twin t3 based turbo is going to have more efficiency throughout the curve, especially on the top end. The guy said he made boost at 2.5k rpm. Trying to make boost lower than that is useless on a gasoline engine. Maybe if it was a diesel that would be different

      David Lira I am talking about the anti surge holes, I am glad your boost gauge works fine... The holes really have nothing to do with that? But anywho, the housings with a full ring machined in instead of the holes I have heard actually work. The holes are cheaper to produce, and do not function like an anti-surge should. Being cheaper, they are usually found on cx racing turbo's to fool kids into thinking, advanced turbo technology!
