1:11 Christine and Stevie's voice go SO well together. Christine is the power of the song and Stevie finishing the lyric a split second after her is brilliant.
I miss you 🥺 Christine mcvie perfect.... You were the best Fleetwood Mac member 😢. Thank you for the many years of great music. I loved being in the world with you
She started in blues in chicken shack who opened for tho original line up Fleetwood Mac , then left when she got married to John McVie . She became part after the original founder of the Peter Green left the group . 1970 then Bob Welch joined . After Welch left 1974. Then Stevie with Lindsey became part of the group 1975.
I swear, had it been released when it should have been, it would've been a huge hit. This song has a quality of being timeless. The uniqueness of the melody combined with greatly sung lyrics is mind-blowing
Christine is the most talented singer & songwriter ever & she was the most beautiful sweet songbird ! Best keyboard & accordion player of all time ever ❤️❤️🙏🙏 Absolutely the most beautiful. Peaceful muzik & I listen to her everyday ! I am in my 70S & been listening to christines & fleetwood mac since 1970S ! Love her 💕💕🙏🙏❤️❤️💐🏵️🌼🌸🌺🍀💛❤️💙💚🇺🇸🇩🇪
Musically, I don’t think she was the same after 1982. The record companies wanted all the keyboard players to go synthesizer full-time. She, Jon Lord, Greg Rollie and few others refused to go that trend. Christine eventually compromised by putting Hammond organ and Fender Rhodes parts on the synth. She learned some synth part from Steve Winwood and the keyboard player from Dire Straits. They were organ players before moving to synth so she respected those guys. But the intimacy with the synth was not like it was with the Hammond or Fender Rhodes. Her organ playing had variations with styles of music: blues, jazz, classical and R&B. She could play it all in one song. She never sounded dated unlike the others.
Amazing song, too bad it didn't get more exposure by being included on a regular FM album. What a gorgeous melody - Christine is soooooo gifted in that area....
Agreed. That box set - which was Mick's idea - to mark the band 25th year should have been pushed back in favor of an new album. First, it was Mick's insistence on Silver Springs going on this box set that led Stevie to quit, as she wanted it on her Timespace "Best Of" album. Chris & Stevie, though no longer touring with FM, were willing to continue recording. It would have been nice had the "Vito/Burnette" Mac got more than just one album before the band splintered, disintegrated and morphed into a joke (that wretched lineup circa 1995).

Oh I have seen Such madness in the air Just like a dream It makes no sense anywhere Hopes have shattered Shattered like broken glass I believed it was just too good to last (It seemed to me it was too good to last) So now you're saying you've been wrong And you want to come back home You know I've known all along That you had a heart of stone And now you want to change your song You're tired of living alone You know I've known all along That you had a heart made of stone But don't you remember Those days of cold delight We could make it all right It seems so long ago Oh maybe it was yesterday Where did the time go I guess it just slipped away (Seemed like the time was slipping away) So now you're saying you've been wrong And you want to come back home You know I've known all along That you had a heart of stone And now you want to change your song You're tired of living alone You know I've known all along That you had a heart made of stone You're never too old to learn You're never too young to pray It's never too late to learn And hope for better days You're never too old to learn You're never too young to pray It's never too late to learn And hope for better days So now you're saying you've been wrong And you want to come back home You know I've known all along That you had a heart of stone And now you want to change your song You're tired of living alone You know I've known all along That you had a heart made of stone So now you're saying you've been wrong And you want to come back home You know I've known all along That you had a heart of stone
I sing this to myself in my head. I worked at Hard Rock in Ohio and seen people change there and not for the better. Those relationships were fun in the past but now it’s truly a ‘heart of stone’. Moving forward, thanks Christine. You will be forever missed but not your songs. I keep them in my head to sing to.
How this song didn't get released as a single is a crime. This is one of the BEST songs that Christine has ever done. Period. This has top ten written all over it. Know they needed to probably put a few new songs on the box set for people to buy it (I did but would have done so no matter what just to get the older stuff like the Peter Green/Jeremy Spencer/Danny Baldwin stuff to be honest) but have heard this song I don't know HOW many times over the years and just seriously does NOT get old. Not one minute. Songwriters pray for a song that will transend time and space and sound just as good decades down the road than it did when originally done. Christine has some, including this one, Stevie has Dreams and Rhiannon and Mick knew how to pick them for the band. Don't know if this song has ever been played live but would love to hear a live version of it if so. If it ever has been done live, would have been on any touring they did around the time of this release to promote it to a point (even if they were promoting another release I hope they would have done one or two new songs from the box set to promote it)
You are right. My bad. Kind of embarrassing since I am a Fleetwood Mac fan. Must of had the drummer of Starship on my mind when I wrote it since I liked that band also and their drummer was Danny Baldwin. Thank you for setting me straight. Didn't realize I did that. Glad someone reads my comments!! lol
That’s cool. Danny Baldwin really is a good drummer, I miss those years of Jefferson Starship. I’ve been a Mac fan my whole life, I have most of their albums and have seen them live three times (with three different incarnations) 1995, 1997 and 2003.
I was at the Tacoma Dome on their last tour. It was like the 2nd date of the tour and Mick made kind of a big deal how they got their groove back on that individual show as on the 1st they had not played as a unit in awhile at that point and was shaking off the cobwebs. Mick came to the front of the stage at the end of the show with a big grin and said something like Thank you Tacoma!! The Mac is back!!! They are such a good band. I respect Lindsay and Stevie for what they brought to the band and for what they did for the band but deep down, I am a big fan of the Bob Welch years and before. Mystery To Me is one of my personal favorites. Also Tango is my favorite Mac record of the Lindsay/Stevie era from front to back with Tusk being a real close second.
Christine🦋💫💙 … thank you for your beauty , magic , and grace. . I wish I had know. You, I would have certainly tried my very best to understood . I am still looking for my home 🏡
Dear Beautiful Sweet Christine Love All Your Beautiful Heartfelt Beautiful Positive Love Songs !! I Listen To Your Love Songs Everyday !! All The Documentrys 🍀🌼🏵️💐🌷🌺🌸💚🩵💙💛❤️
Only somebody with real appreciation of great music would upload these kind of songs here. Snow4404 you have it! Unfortunately it seems FM never made a video version of this great song. I have the audio version in my 'Chains' box set. But I would really have loved to see Christine at the keyboards doing this song in a video.
I love Miss Nicks, but lets be real, she overshadows Christine a bit toomuch. Too many of her songs have slipped through the cracks like this one here, for example.
Yep, 100%, Christine is massively underrated. She is responsible for writing many of the band's most commercially successful hits before and during the Buckingham Nicks era.
I love you always Christine mcvie perfect. You made Fleetwood Mac,you where always the best human being alive. Your music 🎶 will live on forever and I will always miss you 🥺 what's next?
Stevienickssss, This song can be found on the 25 Years: The Chain boxset...I have it on a bootleg CD I found in Malé...I believe the song was recorded by the Behind The Mask lineup, but without Rick Vito...god bless
behind the mask was a really good lp had a copy on casette wore it out would like to find a copy on cd and your this is a great song thanks for the share DC:)
Who was this song written about? She and Dennis Wilson did not part on good terms for sure. I can hear Stevie’s influence on this song and behind the mask. And I can hear Christine on Stevie’s say you will and has anyone ever written anything for you. They had a mutual admiration society
Christine was such an incredible composer... every song she writes is pure gold
PURE GOLD!
1:11 Christine and Stevie's voice go SO well together. Christine is the power of the song and Stevie finishing the lyric a split second after her is brilliant.
She was just pure class
Christine McVie, Fleetwood Mac's secret weapon.
RIP Christine. This song will always remain one of my favorites.
Mine too. She was so good, esp with the whole Mac harmony behind her. Brilliant musician.
I miss you 🥺 Christine mcvie perfect.... You were the best Fleetwood Mac member 😢. Thank you for the many years of great music. I loved being in the world with you
Christine McVie was definitely one of the most talented & underrated woman of rock. Such class!
She will be missed.
Not only is she still alive, she's recorded an album with Lindsey Buckingham.
I wouldn’t consider her to be underrated at all.
I agree that Christine is underrated. She's one of my favorite female musicians. Just amazing.
Rumours has long been the most sold album of all time with 17 million copies. I guess some other musicians would dream of being underrated like that.
Chris was the glue, the hidden magic, she she elevates every album, every song she’s on. She may be away physically but she remains her forever.
WHY THIS IS NOT ON SPOTIFY? 😭
One of her very best ever songs. Sadly it was included on a four CD boxset and never released as a single.
I really wish this song had made it on a FM record, not just a greatest hits compilation. A truly great song.
It would have been great to have a music video as well.
A woman of true blues rock and roll, pop... The real goddess of Fleetwood Mac
One of her best. She really is perfect.
I swear, had it been released when it should have been, it would've been a huge hit. This song has a quality of being timeless. The uniqueness of the melody combined with greatly sung lyrics is mind-blowing
It's my favorite song from her and as long as you follow. Both with this band
@@maxpaape5412 that's a great tune too. She will be missed
I have always loved Christine. She's the best !
Christine is the most talented singer & songwriter ever & she was the most beautiful sweet songbird ! Best keyboard & accordion player of all time ever ❤️❤️🙏🙏 Absolutely the most beautiful. How has this song got so few likes? In my opinion it's one of their best tracks :)
So is Love Shines.
I love Christine so much. I forget...is this from "Behind The Mask"?
Love shines is my favourite song
This was one of the new songs recorded for their box set called "The Chain" released in '92 to mark FM's 25th anniversary. Great song.
Along with Love Shines, which also had a video.
Love this lady 😢

'The Most Seductive Voice In Rock' ( AND a great, great songwriter )
Christine's voice was one of a Kind.
There will Never be anyone like her ever again....
Amazing song, too bad it didn't get more exposure by being included on a regular FM album. What a gorgeous melody - Christine is soooooo gifted in that area....

Oh I have seen
Such madness in the air
Just like a dream
It makes no sense anywhere
Hopes have shattered
Shattered like broken glass
I believed it was just too good to last
(It seemed to me it was too good to last)
So now you're saying you've been wrong
And you want to come back home
You know I've known all along
That you had a heart of stone
And now you want to change your song
You're tired of living alone
You know I've known all along
That you had a heart made of stone
But don't you remember
Those days of cold delight
We could make it all right
It seems so long ago
Oh maybe it was yesterday
Where did the time go
I guess it just slipped away
(Seemed like the time was slipping away)
So now you're saying you've been wrong
And you want to come back home
You know I've known all along
That you had a heart of stone
And now you want to change your song
You're tired of living alone
You know I've known all along
That you had a heart made of stone
You're never too old to learn
You're never too young to pray
It's never too late to learn
And hope for better days
You're never too old to learn
You're never too young to pray
It's never too late to learn
And hope for better days
So now you're saying you've been wrong
And you want to come back home
You know I've known all along
That you had a heart of stone
And now you want to change your song
You're tired of living alone
You know I've known all along
That you had a heart made of stone
So now you're saying you've been wrong
And you want to come back home
You know I've known all along
That you had a heart of stone
Thanks brilliant song just needed the lyrics as I haven’t memorised this fleetwood mac song 😬

Danny Baldwin? It’s Kirwin.

Christine McVie is perfect - Fleetwood Mac the Great
My first time hearing this (July 29, 2020). Lovely.
she has a great voice! amazing!!!
I love this song also - I wish we could get it I-Tunes
Great bridge.
The most underrated song that Fleetwood Mac ever made!
Love Shines
Seriously. No one I talk to has ever even heard it. Makes me so sad!
One of my favorite Christine song.
Incredible Woman!
7/12/2023 Would be her 80th birthday
Miss this Beautiful Songbird
Only somebody with real appreciation of great music would upload these kind of songs here.
Snow4404 you have it!
Unfortunately it seems FM never made a video version of this great song.
I have the audio version in my 'Chains' box set. But I would really have loved to see Christine at the keyboards doing this song in a video.
Christine - Perfect !!!!! -
simply magical. She has a damn good voice.
impressive song and performance; I return to listen to it frequently.
I love Miss Nicks, but lets be real, she overshadows Christine a bit toomuch. Too many of her songs have slipped through the cracks like this one here, for example.
That's a very good comment, I totally agree with you.
Yep, 100%, Christine is massively underrated. She is responsible for writing many of the band's most commercially successful hits before and during the Buckingham Nicks era.
Nick's appeals to the mystical, Bohemian types. Chris's songs are great, but they almost belong in a completely different genre.
Christine belongs and matches the style and quality of Peter Green. For me Christine is the best blues singer. Steve
So many nice songs from that band. Puuh..
Christine Anne "Perfect" McVie ❤
I'd never heard this song. Awesome!
I love you always Christine mcvie perfect. You made Fleetwood Mac,you where always the best human being alive. Your music 🎶 will live on forever and I will always miss you 🥺 what's next?

This song can be found on the 25 Years: The Chain boxset...I have it on a bootleg CD I found in Malé...I believe the song was recorded by the Behind The Mask lineup, but without Rick Vito...god bless
Stevie Nicks wasn't at this session, either. They varispeeded tapes to make Chris's voice sound like Stevie's on the backing vocals.
Why is this not on spotify????????
Why is this not on spotify?? I bought the 25 years album and found this song on it, but I can't find it on spotify :(
I really have madness in the air
