For all intents and purposes, lady Danbury is his mother. She treats him like a son and he clearly cares for her like a mother. We just get thrown off by the titles, "your grace", "lady Danbury". She hits him with her cane for crying out loud, a scene that I love btw. Oh let's be honest, I love her....

Most definitely. She plays a character that's not easy to play. Going from naieve and innocent to a confident young lady. To make it believable it requires certain subtle acting choices. It is like harnessing the wonderment and newness of a child finishing it off with the cynicism of an adult. The actress does it brilliantly

Exactly. I wouldn't describe him as handsome, as much as he is actually beautiful. If you think he is beautiful now, just take a look at a photo of him when he was about 14, a more beautiful boy, you've never seen, so there is no way that that face would have grown into anything, but what it is today, just as beautiful as it was back then. The mix of his two parents, surely resulted in one, if not, the most beautiful man I've ever seen.
Love this series!!! Binge-watched it in a day. The characters are real and likable and hope there will be more. Shows there is life after marriage -- and resolutions to day-to-day matters!!! Well done!!!
Yes I hope the same but, the show is based on actual books (the Duke and I) that is why this first season feels so complete with them. The show it is part of a 9 book series by Julia Quinn (The Briderton Family Serie), each describe the life of each of the Briderton siblings, this one was about Daphne, the second book is about Anothony...and so forth.
If my future husband will not look at me like Simon looks at Daphne I don't want him.

For anybody to criticize the show because maybe the costumes are not quite right, Who cares this was a wonderful movie great male actor great female actor worked beautiful together
I think the point was to have some significant changes such as the modern day music and the clothing, especially the Dukes. The fabrics in the clothing was magnificent.
Yes, the show's creator says it's basically more a reimagining of the books than an adaptation. Making the cast so diverse meant that changes had to be made to explain it...thus, it became almost more alternate history than historical romance and the feel was different enough that they have more leeway with costume creation, music, etc.
Their chemistry is amazing!

Itâs so good!,if you are thinking about watching this , itâs a must watch! It has a strong romance with super chemistry! So hot đ„! The story moves quickly! There is interesting characters, intrigue, deception, beautiful costumes , sets ! Dialogue is quite good! Loved it ! And even though itâs set in the 1800âs it has a modern feel! đđđgreat job â€ïždefinitely a rewatch! đđđđđđđđđđ 10/10

OMG. What a story. I am 68 y/o and it awakened emotions and feelings not felt in years. Excellepomnt acting, writing, directing, and flawless presentation. True entertainment and that Rege. Getting ready to rewatch for the 3rd time!

one of my favorite moments was when simon defended daphneâs honour when nigel was being irksome and treated daphne like some âhorseâ he buys. at that point of time simon and daphne have just started their ruse and at the start they were even uninterested in each other. but he was already protective and perhaps in the beginnings of love with daphne since then đ„ș
I think that scene was demonstrating his general respect for women...which his father and many men then didn't have. Of course some men now don't have it either.
And of course he denied her dowry

They are such a sweet couple but the memory of Simon his heartless father disturbs their happiness a lot! I really hope that there will be a happy ending! đ

Nice edits. Read the book guys. She young and knows nothing. Her whole life she been groomed to do two things. Get married and be a mother. Simon's demon are deep girl. He hates his father so much he thinks the only way to get him back is not marry or have kids. Hes so miserable. Daphne saves him. She forces him to break out of the prison hes built for himself. I know there are scenes ppl dont like but its a nice love story. I wish the show was a little longer because i wanted them to dig deeper with Simon. Especially where he finally says he just wants to be happyđđđđ. Wish they wldve included that scene in particular from the book

I love this show! Watched it in 1 night (on December 29th starting at 12.35am and finishing it at about 8.55am) thinking I would watch just 1 episode. Once I started, I couldnât stop. Iâve already watched season 1 4 times and Iâm going to start watching it the 5th time today on January 4th, 2021.

I'm afraid to say that I am also guilty of that as well, but because I forward mainly to the Daphne/Simon story, I'm more used to their lines, then anyone else's from the series, and I'm pretty sure I've watched their story more than 10 times, because as soon as I finish it, I can't wait to start again. I've never been this involved with any other series before, but it is really hard to stop watching the Duke, he is one of, if not, the most beautiful man I've ever seen. All i can say is, Emily Brown, you're one lucky lady.

It's so hard to pick out even just a few things about this series that I loved because the whole thing was a masterpiece, especially the costumes, locations, and scenery. And don't even get me started about Simon, an example of male pulchritude _par excellence!_ (Somehow I had forgotten he played Chicken George in _Roots,_ but then that was several years ago.) His chemistry with Daphne was entirely too perfect! I've since watched a couple of other films Regé-Jean Page has made. Even his smaller roles made them worth it. :) But I'd like to point out one of my favorite lines where he says, "separate households will not be *suffered."* Perhaps now people will understand that the world _suffer,_ depending on the sense of the sentence, means to _allow,_ not to hurt. Thus, _insufferable_ means intolerable. :)
There were a few wonderful lines scattered throughout that reminded me of other great British series including _Poldark_ and the 1995 _Pride & Prejudice._ I've also read hundreds of Regency romances starting almost 50 years ago with Georgette Heyer's and then onto Jane Austin and hundreds of more recently written books. I thought it was great how things were explained for those who weren't familiar with the customs of the time, but even I learned a few things like how to pronounce _ton,_ which I knew was French but had thought it was pronounced "tone." Now I know it's "tawn" which makes more sense. And _on dits_ is pronounced on-dees-what a surprise! :) I also didn't realize Queen Charlotte (remember George Warleggan's ship was named after her) was of African and Portuguese heritage-who knew? Somehow learning historical facts this way puts them indelibly in my mind so I'm grateful for that. How nice to be so thoroughly engrossed in a story and become better educated about our history at the same time!

Lana Joseph, I know exactly what you mean. I absolutely hate the turns she took with Scandal. It was so frustrating and disappointing to watch the latter seasons. This was a really good first season for Bridgerton. I hope upcoming season(s) will be just as good, with none of Shonda Rhimes' unwelcome surprises, like she has done with Scandal and sometimes with Grey's Anatomy.
Shonda is great at picking couples with good chemistry but she is also the best at ruining couples and stories. Also great at killing characters firing actors.
