When I was homeless myself for about a year and a half I got into a shelter, they had beds and served a humble dinner that honestly still left you a little hungry, but was better than nothing. A man that owned a “Roach Coach” or Catering Truck, started coming by after dinner, and gave everything he had left to the shelter who gave it to us. While most people would have just thrown it out because they couldn’t sell it the next day, this man would go to homeless shelters all around the city giving them whatever was left at the end of his day. Cooked food, bageldogs, corndogs, etc. I got out of being homeless, that shelter no longer exists, and I don’t know if the man is still operating his truck or not, but I’ll never forget him or his kindness.

Yeah I don't understand why so much food is tossed when it could be given to people.... Well I do, it's a legal thing. If someone got sick they could sue so allot of places just toss it. Still unfortunate.
Also people need to stop giving canned food to shelters and stuff. Like some is fine but they need actual food. You can't live on cans of corn and green beans.

My first job was at McDonald's. I worked the morning into lunch shift. They use to throw out so much food. So I gave the sandwiches we were go to throw away to this homeless man who would pay for a coffee in Pennies.
He was so grateful. I got in trouble and told we were not allowed to do that. This same man tried to fill out a application to work. He had poor handwriting, he didn't have a home to write his address. He used the shelter as his address. The manager had showed everyone. They were all laughing and making fun of his application, and then threw it away. I had always been so shy, but this pissed me off so much. This man was TRYING to earn money to eat. I ended up quitting because I was so disgusted with everyone there.

Everyone is human, no matter their situation, I've been homeless for 5 years at one point in time. I am only 35 now but I know what it's like to be seen as nothing. Noone should ever be shamed to feel that low. The kindness i found was a restaurant owner saw me asleep behind his store and he didn't kick me off, he offered me a job. I've been working ever since. It gave motivation to do something more.

God bless that restaurant owner! I’ve never been completely homeless. But once in 2019 dealing with injuries from my job and not correctly getting paid, I almost would have become homeless. But God in His mercies saved me. He sent help from His sanctuary. It wasn’t much, but somehow I managed. I’m always helping someone throughout my life I still do it to this day. It’s always a pleasure for me. So I never lack provisions in my life, because the Lord ALWAYS come through for me. At times, I may have to wait. But it always works out. If I get into a situation, don’t have family to help me get out. So I depend solely on the Lord to see me through. So I’m glad you’re doing well now. Continue to strive for excellence! No doubt. My Angel is with me. I don’t want to live in shame for the things I do.
Her name is Hannah. She has saved my life more than once. She came to me one time. She showed herself to me. I knew her and she knew me. She appeared in a gift shop in flatirons near boulder. She was looking for me. She said I’m ok and that things change and I’m going to be around for a while and there is a master plan so be ready. She said she had to go and I hugged her and when I turned around to look at her she was gone. I went outside and she vanished. I sat and my wife met me and she asked what happened? I told her and she smiled. When we got home she gave me a book about angels and then I knew. I know she helps me. I had a heart attack driving 55 MPH through the mountains and passed out. Something kept making me turn my wheel. Three times to the right. I was out of it but was told when to turn. I went for 1/4 of a mile over a bridge all in a right turn up the road while still going right then hit a sign they tore my fuel lines and stopped the the engine. The guy behind me saw what was happening and knocked on my window and I came out of it. Still gripping the wheel. I asked what happened and he said you wrecked and I asked if everyone was ok and he said yes but you almost went head on with a semi. He said you turned three times and if not you would have died. I was glad no one was hurt. I was ok. That was #7. . I’m to the point that I’m going to search for it. I can’t wait. Time is running out.

This is one of the reasons I like the franchises that write donation into their contracts. Like Panera. To own one of their franchises, your contract states that you have to donate your left over baked goods to a local charity/shelter/etc. More businesses should incorporate such things into their contracts, even if they aren't capable of making sure every franchise enforces it. A lot of them will just to dodge the possibility that they are checked up on.

Often the grandson is called a she. When Camilla brings the homeless man home with her she refers to him as master, and a number of other irregularities. Written by someone from another country with slightly different ideas about men being masters and not a very good grasp of the English language.

My brother asked the guy to put it on a bag for him. The guy did it but he had to ACTUALLY THROW IT N GARBAGE and my brother take it out. That was the plan in case the boss be looking. I worked at a fast food joint in 1994. At the end of the day, we put all the left over food in clean garbage bags and left it by the dumpster. All we asked the homeless was to please throw any trash away in the dumpster so management didn’t find a mess in the mornings. Some guy bought the joint and changed everything over night.
He made us toss everything into the dumpster and padlock it at night, and we no longer got a free meal while working. He lost every employee within six months. After that, the people he did hire were so rude, he lost the customers too. He was shut down in less than a year of buying the restaurant.

I was also homeless living on the street literally after my divorced. With no family member to turn to I would go to every dumpster every day after my part time job, no one at work knew I was homeless. I would take a shower after everyone left. After one year I saved enough money to buy a car and lived in the car for 2 years after I found two full time jobs. I would only sleep for 4 hours every night, paid off my debts and saved enough to start my own business.
That’s what I did. My uncle and my aunt was sued by a homeless man for food poisoning so he claimed. I remembered my uncle and aunt used to feed this man every day even allowed him to clean himself in their restaurant restroom. Than a couple months past, the homeless man hired an attorney sue my aunt and uncle for food poisoning. My aunt and uncle lost and had close their restaurant and pay this homeless man over $240,000.00 a person like that man made a lot of kind people rethink about helping homeless individuals.
I didn’t get any help from anyone and I didn’t asked anyone for help. But I was focused on getting off the streets and never to let myself become homeless again. Today I own three successful businesses.
