Men's Haircut Tutorial Step by Step - TheSalonGuy

- In this men's haircut tutorial I demonstrate a step by step how to video. I break down the haircut from the blades, the blending, the layering and even the styling. You could follow along with this and I suggest watching the whole video.
The back/bottom I used a #2 guard then worked up from that to a 3 1/2 guard then 3 3/4 guard leaving the sides around 1/2 inch or 2cm max. Then the top from the back is about 1 inch working up to about 2 1/2 - 3 inches in the front.
The longer you leave the hair the less it will spike up so I would say no more than 2 - 2 1/2 inches.
Blow dry with hands then apply American Crew Fiber.

I am going to try and achieve this look on my husband. Thank you for the step-by-step! The corners are always the hardest on him because he has a box-shaped head. Going to practice and perfect the scissor-over-comb technique to get it really even.
Thank you so much for this video! I am a retired hairdresser who worked in a salon in the 80s. Your step by step video helped me cut my son's hair into a great current style.
the way you flick that scissor looks so professional it looks like you're flicking out a karambit
OMFG yes
😂
I love the longer tutorials it really helps to apply the techniques to my own cuts. I love your in depth explanations! thank you for your time!
My sister recommended this channel. Great stuff. I have a hubby and five boys all with different hair types. I've always cut their hair because it's too much money to dish out for all of them. My haircuts have been lousy lately and this will help me out tremendously. Thanks for taking the time to do it.
6 years later, how’d it go?
@@jackstoutamore8541 facts I want an update
my dad just had me start cutting my brothers hair, after I've been cutting his hair for years. they wanted something completely different than his simple buzz with a bit of blending. this video was super helpful!
Love love love this tutorial ! I'm currently in hair school, and I love doing this cut.
You are a life saver. I’m a fairly new stylist, and men’s cuts still scare the hell out of me. I stress watch your videos for 30 min before ever men’s cut I do and it helps immensely. Thanks you and keep up the great work!

Thank you so much for this video, I am just starting in the trade and I start my first salon job on Friday, I am already knowledge on this hair cut but I wanted to just see it one more time other than how my teachers taught me. I've been out of school for a year and a half so i'm a little rusty!

Thanks so much for the tutorial. I have an undercut/ fade hair style and have been looking for something slightly different. This is what I had in mind but couldn't find a decent tutorial so thanks!
Awesome man
Stephen, I followed your video in cutting my own layered hair (1st time I ever cut my own hair) and I’ve been VERY PLEASED. So, thank you.
Now however, my son Stephen has decided he wants ME to cut his hair too!!
(He went to my stylist after he turned 18 but like myself, he hasn’t been happy with her work either)
So, I found this video of yours and as long as the style meets with his approval for what he wants, I’ll be following your demonstration AGAIN!!
I can’t tell you how many haircut videos I’ve watched and seriously, I can’t find a better overall teacher.
The way I figure it, lol....l probably “owe” you about $75 since here in the big city of brotherly love that’s the cost of a woman’s haircut and a young man’s haircut combined!!
Thanks so much!!
Thanks men! You make it seems so easy! I love this tecnic and hair cut!
Super thorough! I will be rewatching this before I cut my boyfriend's hair tomorrow 😂 Never cut hair in my life before lmao 🤞
I love your step by step tutorials. I have learned so much. greetings from Germany.

hey , i really love this hairstyle. I use your channel to pick choose my hairstyles. I have one problem, i can't get the hairstyles done right. I tried a lot of salons and barbers , i even show them the video before they cut, but they still don't get it right. I wanna make this my 2015 style. Please help
chris santoo hey man sorry to say I can't control how others cut hair. I get this a lot but there is noting I can do.
Which country you from?
What is the name of hair BLU MAAN?
This is very helpful, I see this type of haircut all the time, and as a professional hairstylist, I wanna be able to do this without worry of where to start. Thank you very much, and keep doing what you're doing.
Awesome tutorial! Going to try this on my hubby now! Thanks so much for this :)
This is by far the best haircutting tutorial I’ve ever seen. Great job!
Thx so much
Just subbed, 1st vid I've seen:-) SO true, "can get a 10 minute haircut...." I get a lot of heat in the salon for taking 30-45 depending on client but I'm extremely meticulous and just make sure the cut is good, even, it my advertising someone has on their head. This is my standard men's cut, I do the cut in the exact same order and steps (adjust the top and front based on what client wants). My only difference is I rarely use guards as I fear lines of demarcation but this is Great!.... Maybe shave a few minutes off if I use them haha! You're awesome thank you so much for this video! Im going to go back & watch the others ;)
i think the step by step videos are very helpfull, and i realy like your way of explaining, thanks a lot and never stop doing this
Thanks soooo much
Thank you for the video! Very clear and nice haircut. Will be using the techniques on my sons.
I loved this tutorial! It wasn't long at all and I've watched it multiple times. It really helped me alot with my hair cutting skilles (which was non-existent until now)!
Though I found your tutorials using "live" hair models alot easier to see the actual cut lines, this was a fantastic step by step tutorial (and to your comment in the video - you didn't talk alot at all!! ;D )
Super thanks!!!
Awe thx soooo much
(I'm a novice, at home mom, who's been cutting hair since I was 15- but, got offered a chair at a Barber's shop some 20 years ago because of the Caesar cut I'd give my husband- I just love to cut hair- to give my friends and family the haircut and hair style they love, and flatters their different head shapes :)
I've done "scissors over comb" cutting for years, but had no idea that's what it was called...
I really love your encouraging and positive videos.
Thx so much

Fantastic video! I was practicing on my 9 yr olds head the other day and just ended up buzzing it all off, but this video has encouraged me to try again when it grows back. My boy has multiple crowns and his hair is thick and grows straight forward, It is extremely hard to deal with! One day I'll get it right...:)

I watch these videos every night, maybe 20 a day. You inspired me to buy 7 mannequins, hat tori Hanzo shears, Oster classic 76 all the blades and a t finisher. I'm about to buy a chair. Thanks for all you do. I cut a disconnected undercut and it came out fine. It was a lot harder than I thought, but the videos help me pull through.

Very informative. Thank you for making the effort and showing the video
Thx so much!!!
I am not a stylist--or even close to it--I'm a doctor actually. But my boyfriend does not understand the importance of getting a haircut every 4 weeks, so I've invested in some clippers and guards. I had my stylist cut his hair and explain as she went along, so his first two haircuts have been passable. But this video was fabulous and really helpful!!! I've watched a few other videos online, and I have seen two of your live model haircuts so far. Although the music and editing on those are professional and nice, I think this step by step was fabulous and much more interesting than the fast forward versions. If I could understand what you were describing as someone not in the field, than I think your colleagues should be aces! I think my boyfriend's next haircut will be MUCH better. I personally would love to see you do a "troubleshooting" haircut video--like how to cut on someone with a bald spot, or a receeding hairline--like you discussed the cowlick on the model. THANKS!
Thanks so much Doc! Good idea!
Love this thank you
liked the way u cut hair.....i bought the crew is really nice...
