That endgame against the Pacharisu and Umbreon is a great example of how increasing competitive play doesn't get harder in a linear way, but an exponential way. That play is just so far beyond the way I play this game.
It's part of what I love about this game. The mindgames can be insane, and learning more helps you climb higher :)
@@HomeSliceHenry it's definitely a learned skill. Accepting limitations based on what you're willing to put into the game is essential to having fun with it. I have a family, a full time job, and am in graduate school; I rarely play even a full set of 5 matches in a day. It used to drive me nuts that I couldn't seem to break past the 2100-2200 ELO range, but I've accepted that it takes real practice to get good at this, so I've resigned myself to just running spice almost every match and having fun with crazy teams. But it's still a blast watching competitive players getting after it!

Yeah typically the higher you go, the less and less you can assume that the opponent will make a mistake. Then you have to predict that their optimal plays are things like back to back charged moves after shields are down, and play accordingly to maximize your own win cons.

I tried a set with it this morning and it was huge fun.
Unfortunately I just don’t think it’s viable right now for climbing; I lost so many games because it had *nowhere* to run, sometimes 2 shields to 0 with energy didn’t matter. Too many Waters running amok and I even ran into double Electric several times.
At the other extreme, a couple opponents conceded the moment they saw they were up against a shadow Charizard with energy and shields 😂
That's unfortunate, if you run into stuff like basti it's going to be a rough day for zard :/
Zards energy is hyper flexible, but unfortunately not against that thing
@@HomeSliceHenry I had one opponent even use their Charjabug as a damage sponge against my 2-1 shield advantage with about a 5 Wing Attack head start, and then they had a Lanturn in the back.
The games I won though…SO fun!

yep cuz of soo many water types are there.
Lanturn,daddycash,feral,mountaindew,mantine, flying toilet seat birb,poli.
Like soo many water types and Charizard can't comfortably win so it needs move update which tbh isn't necessary as it has good movesets.
It should need a meta buff around it eg bug types or grass/ice are buffed so zard will be instant meta like,
Shadow zapdos its move sets r good but meta wasn't good to it until last season where fighters and now waters r buffed and in UL meta zapdos core breaks many teams!
I used shadow zard a few seasons ago and it’s a really fun closer
I actually ran it last rotation in the ultra league and was managed ro climb with it shadow zard hits so insanely hard
Shadow Zard is one of those mons that’s super-fun even when you lose.
I had a really frustrating event, i caught a Shadow XL height & XL weight Shieldon but the ivs are so incredibly unlucky - 15|14|0 🙄
That under-charge from Weedle was absolutely unacceptable.

Charizard lately has been my saving grace. Then after I bring in magnesone. then I bring in my other savings grace which is blastiodon switch out blastiodon for shadow tentracruel😁.
I don’t have a good Guzzlord, I have good IVs shadow gate and shadow charizard.

Bro I'm gonna be real, I was watching this and was like "you know, this is a solid team" but then I remembered I made a random team that was also pretty solid the other day but couldn't remember what it was but I said "ah, who cares, I'll run this instead". I load up GBL and the "random team" I made was this with talonflame instead.... I literally laughed at myself. Lol
The amount of times I’ve stopped tapping. Thinking the opponent isn’t tapping also but then I click the screen and I see my opponent has killed every single one of my Pokémon 😒😔

I have been using shadow sneasler, shadow dragonite, and shadow zard in the back every time ultra league comes out. There is not much that likes to see a sheild advantage shadow zard.
