Working on the Yamaha SR500 Cafe Racer. Also shot this round with the GO PRO 3.
Stripped all the old parts, media blasted, cleaned and powdercoated everything...
This was an EX- race bike so it had no side stand. After cutting down some parts from a yamaha fzr600 i was able to make it work for the SR500, then always moving forward
rebuilt the front end with progressive suspension and started to re-assemble the project

Sick build! Sold the 79 I built about 10 years ago and regretted it every since. I've been on the hunt for another one for 7 years and finally found one locally! A runner for a good price no less. Gonna go full scrambler on this one. Your work inspires me! Thanks for sharing the build.

I appreciate that the only sound out ya mouth was the whistle at the billet pieces, haha. I have a set of vortex clip-on's fit to my SR also. I mounted the bars over the top triple so they had tank clearance, more comfort and angle freedom too. But now I'm considering a set of alloy MX bars, ha.

Just FYI it was a 3/8 air gun set on low. I did go around after with the torque wrench. But why turn a wrench when you don't have to?
Excellent work! I am in a similar project but with a Honda CB400N is not if you're going to have the same termination the cone of you but I do my best to make it so. A hug! Javier
Check out the Seal Mate fork seal cleaning tool to make fork seals last a lot longer- you can make this tool from a piece of a plastic milk jug. I also buy Dupont Chainsaver spray from Walmart and spray it into the top of the fork seals every few weeks, to prevent seal age cracks and help keep sand out of the seals.

everything great, but i don't like when you tighten the brake disc bolts with the air gun. I would use the torque wrench or at least using the key in hand.

Question, why do you chemically strip the parts and then media blast them? Why not just media blast them to start? Is there some advantage to chemically stripping first? Just curious. Nice work.
only because at that time i did my own blasting. My little blaster would not take off some of the material unless it was loosened up with chemical first. Now i just send it all out. Thanks
