The pond is the most affordable solution that I have found. The other solution is a large round acrylic aquarium which you might need to get custom made and can be very expensive but it does give you a great view. Remember, if you are going to keep sharks and stingrays you have to put their needs first since you are responsible for their well being. With the pond you can still view them very well in addition to giving them the proper space that they need.
Gotta love rubbermaid ..I have the same pond, they work well ..I drilled the side with overflows and have a 100 gallon sump attached ..but I have corals mixed in with my sharks, so I need the added filtration
Yup :-) We checked out your pond, it's beautiful! In the updated video you will see our 150 gallon sump that we added.
Anders Holder nice
You guys are too dang COOL! I know for me, raising my various pets over the years, it really made me sooo happy anytime I could upgrade the habitat!!
You have some beautiful sharks :D
gotta love your dedication towards your fishes.
Andrew Lucfr Thank you :-)
That stingray is so cute
I'm not a fan of a California ray but the blue spotted ray or bat ray is the true beautys.
Juble Tyre ikr!!
Wow you guys are so brave and nice for giving these guys such a great home we need more people like you. I'm so happy to see people not trying to kill and sell these animals ♥️
Sharks and sting rays are so cool
Thats awesome. I love it.
Thanks :-)
Sharks and stingrays are really cool
Awesome!!! i cant believe you fit that pool in your living room!
Beautiful creatures
Love this idea but really love to see an update on the pond and sharks.
Hi There! I just posted one last week. :-)
Love all rays
I love stingrays!
This is actually really cool
Stingray is so cute!omg!😊
Wow that is great
Thanks :-)
Amazing babies
Amazing tutorial! I have a 500 gallon shark & Ray tank w/spotted rays, butterfly rays, bat rays, as well as banded bamboo, coral, & 1 smooth grey hound. Id love to have a big pond I always told myself I was gonna go big enough for a Black Tip but the $3,500.00 price on the shark alone not counting the pond & equipment made me 2nd guess lol
Thanks! I don't recommend a Black Tip Reef Shark. They get way too big and need a ton of room in order to swim. The benthic species like the ones in this video are much easier to care for in captivity. They are not very active though, they mostly just lay around and hang out.
He grew so much
They were in a 120 gallon and out grew it in a little over a year. Check out the EFish's 120 Gallon Shark and Stingray Aquarium video on our channel to see how big they got. For cat sharks I would recommend a Coral Cat Shark which is the black shark with the white spots in the video. For stingrays make sure that you research and can properly ID one before you buy it and bring it home because some get really big. The Halleri and Cortez are ideal size but they need a lot of room to swim.
Zebra Shark wow i know you guys give birth from baby Shark and Stingray That is so cool
You guys are so lucky. They are so beautiful
They are so cute
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Darrien Thompson Thanks :-)
seem like a couple of bright kids but never heard of shark in a pond besides there so majestic and breath taking why only look at the top of them! hmmm! i dont know what that cost but u could build a plywood aquarium for around a dollar per gallon
Thanks :-) It's more for their comfort than for looks. They prefer to just hang out and not really be on display I have found.
hey that looks great wish i had one in my front room
Yes.
Would love to have this in my home. But I would make it differently. But I lobe yours.
cool sharks
awsome!!!!!!!
very cool, I have the same tank for axolotls. I think the filter is an interesting choice. I just use a fluval fx6 on mine and it keeps everything pretty clean, plus I use a turkey baster to cleanup any extra residue on the bottom etc.
That is probably amazing!
Baby stingrays and baby sharks are Soo cute
awesome!
What is the clarity of the water? I was thinking of doing something like this and I came across this video, but I was wondering how well you can see them.
Yes, it's is a titanium heater.
For the top we used 4 large pieces of egg crate.
That was cool
damn, crazy you would do that in an apartment/condo. props to you tho for the proper care
5. Fill up the media baskets and place live rock in the trash can to hold the filter and media baskets in place.
Since this video we added an external Ehiem 2217 canister filter for more bio, 2 powerheads to help with the flow and we used coral glue to glued some underwater LEDs to the inside walls of the pond for day lights.
Hi, Sure.
1. Get a 20 gallon food grade safe trash can by Rubbermaid and drill holes all along the sides to about 3 inches under the handle.
2. Place a magflow pump (minimum 1400 gallons per hour) in the bottom of the trash can.
3. Get a PVC pipe and cut it so that one piece goes on the pump output and the other can be used as a spray bar the way we assembled it in the video. Get 2 elbow pieces for the ends as well.
4. Get some egg crate, cut and zip tie it together to form the media baskets.
that's cool
I loooooovvvvvvveeeee the bambo shark
Wow
cool
Wow cool video 💚
Being in the living area in the house, how do you go with humidity in the room/house? are you doing anything to keep humidity down?
do you find that the pond (not having lids) allows a lot of extra evaporation than a traditional aquarium? and again creating a lot of humidity? and potential mould problems on your ceiling?
Thanks,
Alex
+Alex Kantor The pond has had lids since the beginning, they are just not featured in this video. Check out the update video on this channel to see what they look like. The lids work great for this pond, but you could also use a dehumidifier. It's important to note that you need to have a lid that allows for air to enter the pond. So make sure that you use something like the green house roofing. It's very important.
Are you using a skimmer on the pond ?
Cool cat sharks.
Octavio Chavez Thank you :-)
New subscriber!!
i love your video
it looks like scooping a super flat pancake while you were scooping the stigray.
stingray
They were in a 120 gallon aquarium originally and grew out of it in little over a year.
Is a 120 gallon good for a coral catshark and a small species of stingray ?
When is the next update for the shark and stingray pond?
Where did you get the sting ray?
The stingrays is the best
Are you keeping that pond in your living room?
nice
I love the garbage can but I use a sponge filter and it’s covered with about 20 pounds
Linda
Of live rock and my protein skimmer is attach to the side of the can.
Thanks! Check out my 2019 update to see the improvements to the system.
Im trying to get a 300 gallon for my red eared sliders.
All you need now is a little viewing window :p
Miss Saltwater tank Stay tuned for a much larger tank with a viewing window soon.
Make a glass roof to view Xd
It's possible but I'm not sure it is possible without the risk of a leak. It's not very tall so it's easy for people to see in from the top.
Can give me an estimate of how much the setup cost? Thanks
what were the dimensions of the pond? also how do you do your maintenance, daily/weekly such as water changes and maintenance of your filter.
+MultiMrDrago Check out the update video on this channel. The pond is 5 feet by 6 feet and about 2.5 to 3 feet high. The maintenance depends on feeding, the amount and size of the species that you keep, the amount of biological filtration that you have, etc. Make sure that you test your water at least once a week and do water changes as needed. Remember that it is better to under stock the pond (keep less species in it). Under stocking the pond is what's best for the animal's well being too.
Great video, any new updates?
Thank you! Yes! Check out my 2019 update video and my how my shark pond works video on my channel.
what do you do for humidity control in your home?
Check out some of my newer, update videos. I show the top that I use in order to help with this.
What size tank was the tank the sharks and stingray were in originally? I might get a coral catshark and a stingray.
Do u have like a contact becuase i have lots of questions about that
Don't you have any heaters ?
Why did you put the rocks in the bottom?by Avery
I love this video and i wanna see if i can get a sting ray or 3 baby sharks 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
I'm very new to saltwater and the construction on the pond. Do you have website how to do one but looking at the step by step
Working on this. Check back on Aquapparel.com in the aquarium shark guide within the next month or so.

Catfsihnig me too :)
Catfsihnig same
Catfsihnig good for u
We also used large sheets of egg crate as a cover to keep them in and everything else out. Let us know if you have any other questions. What kind of sharks/rays are you getting?
That’s actually smart lol
How big was the tank they where in before the pond. Tia
Dan Drag 120 gallon aquarium which they grew out of in less than 1 year.
The sharks look like aligater 😳😳😳😳😳😳
2018
Could I use a pond liner as the tank or pond will that work
Rachel Baxter Not sure, I have not tried that. You definitely want something that will be stable and not bow. It is very important for the safety of the animals.
Where did you get the pre formed pond??
From a farm supply company.
Uaru Joey should make one like this but better
I'm doing the same thing
So this pond will then be a permanent home for the life off all 4 fish? I was thinking of doing something like this in the corner of a basement once I would have a house.
Yes but I am actually looking into a larger set up soon.
i wanted to put the 300 gal stock tank in the living room like you both, but the wife said NOOOooo....
🤣🤣🤣
Nice pond! I like the saltwater I have the same pond but set up for freshwater fish. It had lily pads and water lettuce but my Koi and Catfish ate them. Check out my videos you can see how the fish look in the pond its actually much clearer than I thought it would be.
+Tim Crowley Thanks! Looks neat! I have seen people make really cool turtle ponds out of the stock tank as well.
Catfish Timmy what catfish do you keep
I have many species of catfish I have videos of all of them on this account.
The humidity levels must be ridiculous in the home.
Nope, not with the green house roofing that I added.
Is this in a apartment?
Mark Known Townhouse
Why am i here, i don't even have a goldfish xp
if no food can eat that stingrays hahahA
Where did you get the stingray???!!!
Epic Films At my local fish store
Nope we have not installed one yet.
Always wanted at least one catshark (ie Coral Catshark) but I simply don't have the room for that kind of setup. I guess I will just stick with my 90 gallon reef.
I love reef tanks! They are beautiful! 90 gallons is a good size.
