The CX-30 is the get away car! 5,500 miles so far Scotty.
Hey Scotty, your camera is focused on the wall behind you. Love your videos
Hey Scotty, I am quite surprised because you always thought highly of most of Toyota cars while bashing on Hyundai and Kia cars. The Toyota have been sneaky in making their incomplete parts for DECADES.
I have no issue with most of the cheating. The rules are so stupid. Just give us the $12,000 truck that is sold in other countries.
We could have the $12,000 truck, but our current politicians will not allow it
@@PSpringfield Too bad that nobody will change it. I like the idea of a truck with all the basics but none of the bloat. I look for vehicles that I can keep for years so hate all the modern items (like screens) that will go bad in the future. I guess I will have to move somewhere where I can purchase things like this. I like the Grenadier but it is priced too high. I like the Taco but not the new ones with 4 cylinder and twin turbo and hybrid. I am an engineer and like to be able to fix my own vehicles (when I am not being lazy)
Fax
They won't allow the new 3 cyl toyota diesel.
Amen brotha !!!
At least they apologized!! Unlike Ford and GM
Ford boys are getting crate engines, step up Toyota.
They apologized for nothing. The testing irregularities were more strenuous with Toyota and that means their cars were overbuilt. Google up what really happened at Toyota and you’ll see it’s really a nothing burger.
This is just another case of the government making demands through regulations and mandates that have created cars that are less safe and less reliable due to all the electronics and components that must be built overseas to keep the price down to what the customer demands. The government needs to be forced to prioritize safety over fuel mileage. They could build cars with a lot less options just by making them full framed out of heavier metal . They could even put a roll cage in it much like nascar. If they were built closer to NASCAR specs you could have accidents at 80 mi an hour and likely walk away just like they do in their vehicles over a hundred and twenty miles an hour after hitting a wall. I had a bronco that we used to have to take it through emissions and it would pass with just catalytic converters. All the rest of the stuff had been removed. The EPA and other government entities must be shut down for moving the goalposts every time their goal is achieved. When manufacturers meet the mandates the EPA would be out of a job if they didn't change them. If we want safer and more affordable vehicles we must get rid of the cafe standards.
@@mrgurulittle7000Yes, you are right: No Ford Pinto alike issues.
And unlike Boeing...
don't buy the warranties. If you put in a claim, they will deny it. They will Say you did not follow the rules or something else to get out of it. Count on it...
Fidelity is great. They take care of our customers almost right away.
You need to have a magnifying glass to see the loophole.
They will say that the issue with your car is pre-existing so we can’t cover the repairs.
NEVER BUY A AFTERMARKET INSURANCE POLICY. THEY COVER NOTHING THAT WOULD WEAR OUT.
That is called read the fine print. Read the fine print on a meager life insurance policy too.
At least they said sorry.dont see many car companies day that
Most car companies don't apologize at all these days
As a customer, the apology is useless, they stole your money bro
In the 20 years I owned my 4x4 Toyota, I used it a lot, if for nothing else, pulling people out of ditches etc.
Blame the government mandates for new engines.
its bureaucratic nonsense.
these tests are way too complicated and unnecessary. they dont contribute to safety whatsoever.
japanese government should adapt what US does. let car insurance companies do the test themselves.
True which is causing manufacturers to use tiny engines with turbo chargers to haul 4k+ pound SUV's. Sure they might be more fuel efficient but they won't be able to get up to speed as quickly especially when there is cargo. I thought naturally aspirated engines are better than turbo chargers especially considering that a vehicle with a turbo charger is just another thing that can go wrong and can easily shred your engine when it does.
Yes, we could have very reliable engines with moderately low emissions but they keep pushing EV based on trends and bad advice from environmental enthusiasts. They are actively trying to push great gas engines that could last well over a decade out of the marketplace. We should strive for reliable efficient engines so we waste less automobiles which would be less pollution overall while being cost effective.
yeah! I hate the gubmint! I don't wanna pay no taxes for anything! Imma patriot!
It's not mandates it's incentives
They’re ALL cheating
Toyota didn’t cheat.
Self policing does not work. What happened to Governments checking the vehicles.
@@mrgurulittle7000 They fiddled crash tests that is cheating.
@@tonysheerness2427Toyota beat the system and overbuilt their cars. Only fools would think that’s cheating.
@@mrgurulittle7000 That is why they fail crash tests
All of these companies need to stop using computers to do simple things like dashboard lights etc.
yeah, they don't know how to stop using 50 computers in 1 car... rather don't want to as it insures more business in 5-10 years
Yeah just put 2 wires and you try connecting them while driving... 😂
Wait until the EPA forces car manufacturers to force 3 cylinders on us!
Chevy is already using a 1.4L 3 cylinder (or 1.2L) in the Trax. The Toyota GR Corolla/Yaris has a 1.5L 3 cylinder. GM and suzuki had a 1.0L 3 cylinder in the 90s. They've been around a long time. The problem is they're putting them in larger vehicles. They used to be in small light vehicles where they were adequate.
Don't give the sonofa______s any ideas!!!!!
I'll take a 3 cylinder engine as long as it's not turbocharged.
I worked at the Indiana Toyota plant. The Japanese managers left around 2010. That's the problem. I quit in 2021. The managers would ignore processes including safety. They couldn't manage the tact time at 60 seconds!
Wow that's interesting to know, feels self-validating in a way since I insist on only getting a Japanese car made in Japan
I live in Indiana and I got a 2019 Highlander from that plant. I can’t imagine having to start putting those 4 cylinder engines in the cars rather than those V6s. I would be shamed at the plant.
I have a 2010 rav4 3.5 very well taken care of with 300,000KM. Will diving it on the highway at 140 KMH be bad for it, it runs great, I love it.

I would rather have a used Toyota or Honda with a 300,000 miles on it Than 5 brand new GM or Ford products any day of the year

Who would of thunk Ford has more ethics than Toyota. Ford gives out crate engines now & takes care of their customers for any future engine problems.
because their cars suck, thats why they gotta hand out new engines like candy.
@@thehark6247meh my 2013 Focus has 401,000km on it runs like a top.

Toyota has lost their way with these new engines. What kind of car engine ever has a main bearing failure. I never have heard of that happening!!
Thanks for the info 😊
Should have been sued for the defective front bearing system & rear control arm assembly on the early Turd Cells!
Got me an exceptional 2003 Honda hatch si. 21 years old, absolutely spotless, zero rust, next to new interior and exterior, 5spd of course with 66k. Paid five grand . Worth every penny and more!! Those years of toyotas and nissans are great as well!!
2WD 4Runner is useless, doesn't ride any better than that 4WD version. I'd go for a Highlander V-6 or Rav4 instead
Lol you dont like GM Scotty!! Yup dont make them like they use to. I bought my 2005 Silverado brand new. It has 290 thousand KMS on it ( live in Kingston Ontario Canada). Spray it every year with Krown Oil for rust & corrosion. No rust or holes on this truck. NEVER had any issues with the truck or the 4x4 system that has the 5.3 liter Vortec. Watched your channel for years and followed your professional advice. Has original exhaust, starter and alternator. All maintenance done at the stealership for the first 16 years that was recommended by GM. Oil changed EVERY 5K. It didn't matter if I was in Florida or Newfoundland, I would visit a GM dealership and do the service. Wear and tear parts obviously addressed. Guess this one was not made on a Monday or Friday😂. Cheers
I have a 98 Camaro with over 300K on the driver train. Still work, and I don't remember ever taking it to the shop (I do my own brakes etc). And there is NO rust on it either.
@@housecarl1114 Guess we got lucky with our GM's!

I sure miss my 1982 Toyota 4 wheel drive Pick up truck ,, That thing was a Beast That was unstoppable
Why don't you still have it, if it was unstoppable?
Thats a good one. Something stopped it... Maybe rust or accident
I just put rings and rod bearings in my 82 hilux. 4x4 3" body, 3" suspension, 33s... I love my truck. Paid $1200 for it about 15 years ago.
Thanks dude. U deliver a service

My boss found out that most car accidents occur within 3 miles of home. So she moved.
When there's 5-6 inches of snow on the road, 4WD will give you the best traction. My old 4Runner had 50-50 4WD and it plowed through snowy roads. I could never do that in 2WD.
Auto mechanic here for 40 years. I agree with Scotty, I'm turning down any new diagnosis in late model vehicles due to cheap terrible parts. The problem is when any buyers just go to the dealers and buy a car without any knowledge of what they are buying.
Chrysler 300 every light comes on just for fun because the electric issues are so bad. Random lights go on and off, blinker doesn't work when lights are on, but work when lights are off, causing you to have to use hand signals only at night when nobody can see them. Left blinker works intermittently, fog lights dont work regardless of bulbs. Interior shifter lights only come on when you punch it. If you make a left turn with the blinker on, when it rolls back to center and turns the blinker off, your ABS, Traction ETS, and big red BRAKE light comes on. Good times....
If it was Hyundai Scotty would have have been much harder on them. Toyota corruption and Scotty just makes a joke!
I had to have Hyundai replace my engine a few months ago because of engine failure. Hyundai has been having to replace tons of engines because of engine failures on Hyundai and Kia vehicles.
Thanks for the info. I didn't know that and I confirmed it in my research. I was surprised, I would never have expected to be the top 1 in the world in debt. Even above the VW.
Love your take on the Japanese manufacturers. Keep up the good work.
Scotty, I had '92 Chevy S10 that would die at idle; I'd have to feather the throttle, or open up the air cleaner and dump some gas in the throttle body to get it start again. I could bump start it and it would run until it went to idle again. I replaced EVERYTHING I could think of, then admitted defeat and sold it. The guy who bought it off me ended up replacing the distributor cap, and he's still driving it 12 years later...
I had the brake switch issue happen. It wore a hole in the plug. I took 2 pennies, gorilla glued them together, then gorilla glued them to the plug. Had the car for 5 more years after that and never had another issue.
Hi Scotty, Another great video! I have an issue with a 1999 Mercury sable wagon. The problem is when going slow and coming to a stop the anti lock braking tries to come on, on dry pavement. But not all the time. You can hear the chatter . This never happens at other time, just when coming to a slow stop. Example, when making a U turn in front of the house. The shops around here do not have a clue. One guy changed the front passenger axle because the tone ring on that side had a crack in it. Did not make a difference. Any clues? THANKS in advance!!
Bean counters are what killed a lot of national chain restaurants, too. New guy comes in, decides to save three cents per serving by using different beans and the quality goes down. Folks who go to chain places are looking for the same experience every time. Any change is noticed and they [we] stop going.
BTW, I drive old cars, too.
Scotty thank you for what you do...if know about toyota tundra 2024 recall can you please explain what is going on, thank you
The son took over as CEO. That might explain it
He actually stepped down about 2 years ago. Some new guy is in place now
Hey, I have an '04 Lexus es330, other than a small oil leak, it's running fine.
I'll say this, it's been 4 years since the shut downs and we still have trouble getting people to work at my plant. In the wake of the shutdowns we had to bring in a temp service that had to start looking outside the country for workers (we are in the US). People from South and Central America as well as Mexico started to become a large part of our workforce. We still have a lot of those temps left, but not quite as much as before. I know for fact at least one other employer in my town had to do something similar, I think they took in refugees but I don't recall from where. They even hung up signs saying "welcome" for the people coming to work for them. I have no doubt a lot of others have this same problem. It could be coincidence that this is how it has been since the shutdowns. I feel like it at least played a role.
Our rural community does the same. Outsiders everywhere with Gov't housing, food, phones...the works. If you're a citizen, you're screwed.
Had a traction ABS light come on in my 2019 Frontier. It was intermittent.
It turned out to be the brake light switch. Replaced it-problem went away.
After the lockdown, a lot people got lazy. It affected even the Japanese it so seems.
lazy, crazy and greedy(especially the rich)
Created a generation of grifters
WHAT! I thought we weren't supposed to change the transmission fluid?
Early and regularly. Too late and then no, for many reasons.
The cvt in the chevy volt and cadillac elr uses a planetary gear set, it's different from other cvts. It even takes normal GM ATF.
But yet they're rated A-OK by Consumer Reports. Sometimes I wonder if Consumer Reports works for Toyota.
What about the IAC for stalling at stops.
Buy old if you want quality. Love my 2008 Acura TL.
Got a 2010 Camaro SS 6.2 76k 6 speed manual. Well taken care of. What can expect of it?

Good ol’ Scotty😂
and still yet the gas mileage on the hybrid max system in the grand highlander and Lexus TX is not coming close to published spec according to owners on forums
On your lexus check the hub always overlooked could be warp .
I livenin south eastern michigan and work at a transmission shop. I see people i know and customers buy 4 wheel drive or AWD and even withbthe weather we get they dont need it. A good front wheel drive car works perfectly and never have problems getting stuck. Niw if you live in nothern michigan and have a long wooded driveway or live out where snow plowing doesnt always come on time thenbthere might be a point.

I recently bought a (new to me) 2014 Lexus CT 200h. After watching you talk about your Lexus I took a look and mine was made in Japan :) I think I shall keep it until the wheels fall off (or when my kids start learning to drive trade it for a stick shift so they can learn how to really drive a car).
Only problem with those is they use a hybrid battery and may eventually need replacement
6:44 they used to be good, for example the old earlier 1.9 jtd was unkillable when maintained properly
Ive banged 70k in 2 years of owning my 2022 prius prime no issues still on my oem brakes , i inspect them every 10k miles
The reason they don’t make them like they used to is because of government requirements that drive up production cost. Those older dependable engines often don’t meet new epa standards and car manufacturers scramble to design new engines and this is what happens
Are Toyota Avalon hybrid and Highlander hybrid compromised through their cheating?
Scooty stopped caring..😮 i turned up the volume right as he said " F*ck your engines!" 😅😂
Scotty, "They don't make em like they used to". The world, "You don't say". 😂

VW , Merc and many others did it too
I've owned a 1996 Toyota 4runner ltd 4x4 w/elocker for almost 18yrs. I haven't used the 4x4 in about 6yrs. No problems. Get the 4x4 4runner, it will ferch a higher resale price Grandma's buy 2wheel runners

Scotty is not politically correct.🤣🤣🤣
What are bean counters? Lol
But...but..but Toyota can do no wrong thats what the fan boys tell me 😂
crappy emission laws cause down grade of engine power, a criteria they have to meet like all the other sh*tty cars
Ask epa why they change "emission" every year
Do you even know what Toyota did in the so called scandal? They tested their vehicles to higher levels of difficulty, meaning the cars were OVERBUILT. Yet another reason to buy a Toyota. I’m sure Toyota doesn’t mind some people boycott the brand because of this so called scandal though, because it filters out the smart customers from the stupid ones that believe the media.
Both Toyota and Honda are ruining their reputations. Whichever brand you choose the basic tenets of durability, reliability, and quality have deteriorated in recent years.
Indeed older cars will last longer than new ones specially with manual transmission. And indeed with less cost.
learn from Volkswagen lol
We never do… 😂
Well Volkswagen cheated in emissions not on "safety"
VW group will always be a corrupt, complacent, smug & vindictive organisation.

Lol I can't believe that for a second I thought that Asian man was Robert Kiyosaki 😂...
What kind of car does Scotty drive ?
You know that standards might be high if Toyota and Honda are cheating it
Its NOT blatant cheating infact its common if youre in the industry. Not saying its right as you expect better for your money, but none of the cars affected recently are in public service. Unfortunately its been this way for the last few years as Mazda and Honda can attest to and until some things change it wont be the last you hear of this.
Japanese cars are still known for having more reliable cars than the big 3 American automakers. I bet a big problem with testing is the evolving regulations from US bureaucracy on automobiles and a lot of those regulations are excessive and stupid
Supreme Court ruled against the EPA, we can get all the good cars now
I’ve had multiple Toyota trucks & suvs: ALL over 250k & counting!!! All I will buy is a Toyota!
Cheating isn't the problem. The regulations are the problem.
Scotty what’s a common issue that causes a rattle noise from the engine bay almost like a diesel engine on idle on a Toyota Highlander limited v6? So far all I’ve seen online has been to change the solenoids intake and exhaust. I haven’t changed them since the car started back up after turning my awd system off. I reset the code and it hasn’t come back that was months ago. However that Rattle noise on idle is driving my wife crazy and then she’s driving me crazy about it. Should I be concerned about timing chain guides or something involving the timing chain or should I start with the solenoids? Unless you have some other solution. That’s probably my next step. Any help is welcome thanks in advance.
Maybe loose or missing bolts on manifold or a/c belt tensioner?
@@CMBBmc-jd6ur that’s actually makes sense. I’ll check them bolts on there. Thank you so much brother!
