When you have mastered all of Dracula's major patterns, you've worn him down, you've got him on the ropes, when Simon's theme starts, you've know you've got him. To have the hero's theme start at that point in the battle might be one of the most genius small details in any game ever.
1:05 - 1:15 is my absolute favorite part of the song. It feels so triumphant and powerful. This song defines Simon and his determination as a Belmont to vanquish Dracula.
@@justinhuston6855 Many have tried, and that many have failed. Sorta. The Netflix series was made from the remainders of a project to make an animated Castlevania III movie.
As a kid, having lost so many times and concentrating so hard I didn't realize I was finally in sync with his patterns, this music broke me out of my trance. "Oh shit wait am I about to beat Dracula!?" It was like the music was telling me through all those deaths and retries, that I got this, now finish this damn fight. I can count on one hand how many games have made me feel like that since.
Okay, I can hear the difference. And honestly, I've very pleased. I half expected this to be someone just adding an echo filter or even making a recording of a midi file. No, this sounds like the original AND in a good fidelity.
Absolutely loved this growing up, which I think in part led to me becoming a metal musician // producer as my career later in life. Listening back - hello double bass drum and kick // bass syncopated patterns haha. This still rocks and is low key very fresh and modern feeling while also having a classical ancient vibe. 🤘🏻
Seemed to be a rule that first level music had to suck or be mediocre. They sure broke that rule with this song! And it’s even a pretty good song on an epic soundtrack.
To be fair, Castlevania Stage 1 themes have always been great. Vampire Killer, Prayer+Beginning, Reincarnated Soul, Battle of the Holy, Divine Bloodlines, Dracula’s Castle.

Dracula: "Why do I hear boss music?"
Same exact feeling with the mother brain battle in Super Metroid after the “cutscene”
Or this is where the true Battle begins. Either way Time to finish this!
Damn, this is a wonderful comment
FIRST HEARD THIS WHEN I WAS 10 YEARS OLD STILL MAKES FEEL THE SAME WAY AT THE AGE OF 37
Hell yeah!
My first memory of hearing it was in AVGN’s review
Same here. same ages, 2 years later!
In the words of Dashie:
"Who was in the STUDIO!?" 😂😄😃😆
I love the reversal they did by playing the protagonist's theme rather than the boss's.
At that point it was really one against Dracula
literally Dracula "Why do I hear player music"

Why has this not been made into a movie franchise yet

There's an amazing script for Paul WS Anderson's Castlevania floating around the web.
Worth the read.
Your comment deserves a gold medal. Also, a white, a blue and a red crystal.

When the town grates elevated and this music kicked in, now that is a first level intro I will never forget. Playing the game since I was 12.
What a god damn iconic song for one of the best games ever made to open up to
