How can you not have Super Bowl 13 "Bless his heart, he's got to be the sickest man in America, Oh! Jackie! He was so wide open! And he could not hang on to the ball!"? IMHO not only an iconic Verne Lundquist call, but an all-time iconic call regardless of announcer.
People talk about his work in college sports, but what about the " pros " ? He was the play by play caller for the NFL game between the Eagles and the Bears in 1988 known as the " fog bowl " and he made it fun , eventhough it was impossible to see something due to the fog .
I hope y'all will reply to this I like Verne Lundquist he started out at WFAA 8 the ABC affiliate in Dallas-Forth Worth, Texas..he's a great announcer a shame him and Dick Vitale never teamed up to call a college basketball game....that would have been some game huh y'all?????.......he was in the film adaptation of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas he was himself in the film he was one of the announcers announcing the University of Texas/Texas A&M football game in the film
I'm proud of you for not including the child predator school better known as Penn State on this list. Never mind, Verne only called big games. That's why they aren't on this list. Maybe if we could go back to the mid 80s, when Penn State was actually a threat, then it might be a little different.
This is an awful list. How can the Kentucky/Duke game in 92 not be on here? As a UK fan, that game sucked but the call from Vern has to be high on any list like this. Several other misses as well.
Verne’s gotta be one of the greatest announcers in CFB history.
"Yes Sir" at the 1986 Masters when Jack Nicklaus made his birdie putt on #17 should have ben on this list for sure, but aside from that great list
Should have been #1
My fav is when he announced the blocked field goal by Mount Cody when Bama played Tennessee
I wish Verne was still here to call the Chase McGrath field goal
By George, the dream is alive. George Mason going to the final four needed to be included!!
Lot of good ones missed, but Verne was such a great announcer it was hard to even find 10

AN ANSWERED PRAYER!
Verne’s radio call on Tony Dorsett’s 99 Yard TD run in Minnesota was awesome as well.
Lol you missed the Christian Laaetner Buzzer Beater when Duke beat Kentucky in 1992 That's Lundquist's greatest call ever
Laettner has to be number 1. CBS used that clip on their college basketball broadcast openings for years after it happened.
It’s borderline criminal that it’s not only not #1, but it’s not even on the list. The person who compiled this was truly a Johnny Come Lately…
Absolutely his number 1 call and nothing is even close…and he has some of the best calls ever
Verne was great
*JAUAN JENNINGS*
I have a special place reserved for Uncle Verne’s “OHH NOOOO!” at 2:50
Great compilation!
Curtis Brodzina thanks!
Way better than his replacement

If you can find it his call in Super Bowl XII on the Robert Newhouse HP pass to to Golden Richards May be his best call.
The legend
Verne is the best but you HAVE to have “Yes Sir” on this.
You missed the call at the end of the "Clock It" game. LSU vs Ole Miss. "What are they doing? WHAT ARE THEY DOING?? MY GOSH!!!"
im not a tennessee fan at all but i will always remember the name Jauan Jennings cause of Verne so good!

No "Maybe, Yes sir !" ??
Christian laetner tiger which you had and jack 1986 have to be top 3
The top 3 are the only ones I remember seeing as they happened.
Craziest part is that #3 and #1 were two weeks apart (#3 first) in the same stadium, same season!
@@2themoon863 I guess his catch phrase was “Oh, my goodness”.
abc had keith jackson
cbs had verne
fox has gus johnson
nbc has al michaels
espn had brent mustberger
Aw, bless his heart, he's got to be the sickest man on CZcams for forgetting Verne's call of Jackie Smith's drop.

Where's the call of Alabama blocking the field goal of Tennessee, or the Alabama TD against Georgia in 2012
Wasnt duke last second verne
Onions!
There's way too much basketball in this top 10
