When setting the storage area the blocks are on their sides. I was taught to always use them with the openings up and down. Is there much difference in the block strength one way compared to the other?
Glad someone else caught that too
I was just going to type that.
The strength of block are in the upright position, same concept as stringers under a floor.
You have to consider the 2 types of loading the blocks are subjected to in either case.
Imagine a short cylinder of concrete with a load applied to the top. Everything in the cylinder is in compression.
Now imagine a board supported at each end. If a load is applied in the middle of the board in the downward direction the top of the board compresses and the bottom of the board is stretched or subjected to tension.
Concrete works very well in compression, but is relatively weak in tension. That's why the bottom portion of composite concrete beams, suspended slabs, decks etc have a lot of steel in the bottom half of the cross section.
Concrete masony units (CMU) are designed to carry vertical loads to the foundation. Not for bending.
If you look at the masonry units used to support the building there is almost as much cross sectional area of concrete in the vertical direction no matter which way you turn them.
But if you turn them so that the cells are horizontal as they installed them, the concrete on top has to act as a beam to tranfer the load to the vertical portions of the concrete.
Since there is no tensile reinforcement, the blocks could fail. On the other hand in this case the spans are so short the much of the load is on top of a vertical portion and stresses as a result of bending probably won't exceed even the very low allowable tensile stress of the concrete.,... unless they fill the building up with a bunch of heavy stuff.
Bottom line the cells should be up. This also allows rebar to be placed and the cells and filled with concrete to create a stronger structure.
Wordy but now you know why.
You need the new Letsdig18 signature bucket, thumb and quick connect. God bless
I have the same set up not for sure what your talking about tom
@@DirtPerfect check out Chris's latest video. Then you'll understand.
I was thinking the same. Chris has a bad to the bone ami bucket and thumb. Love how it’s LD18 on the thumb also
I did
@@DirtPerfect yes the head gets bigger. Lol God bless
Umm, GUYS.... You stacked those blocks the wrong way when you placed the box. Web should be vertical.
Ok
I agree, those blocks are going to fail after the 1st winter!
Totally agree. Seen the fail before. Totally love the videos
Aaron makes everything interesting, great video! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching
I think you are such a wonderful man to work for, your employees are blessed
Thanks
Good thing the Mayor of Derby can organize a parade with a one MBTS marching band. Closing down the street driving backward and sideways drew a huge crowd. What will next year bring? No pressure. Lol
Great video, enjoyed the scenery and I guess it is pretty standard there in Derby but that looks like some valuable riverfront property......
mrmikeyd but
Another job well done!! Of course TMBS did a great job of management!
Thanks tony
The 2 of you totally crack me up thank you for the laughs great job
Adventures with Mikey.............. always entertaining and never a dull moment !!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks buddy
You are seriously getting into Lets Dig territory with that demo. Must be the Valvo that is making the difference😂
Aaron's not short. He is a tall Umpa Lumpa. Lol God bless
Tall privilege is no laughing matter 😉
He’s not short enough to swing his feet when he sits on a curb so he has that going for him. 🤷🏻♂️
I think the proper term is "vertically challenged", as we all need to get more "woke"...Jesus take the wheel!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good times. Good work. Good fun. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
Man behind the scenecs learning everyone one day at a time 😂😂good video !!
lol thanks don
He looked professional going after the pine tree 💯✌🏻💚🌱🌞
You 2 guys make for a perfect crew! Awesome Job! Was there any silverware in this demo?
Thanks and no
Forget the job, the bants between you two is excellent! :-)
Good job though! :-)
Lol thanks buddy
@@DirtPerfect Heh! No problem! :-)
Just love that banter.
Thanks
Modern day Laurel and Hardy
Great work Mike, you two make a brilliant double, really brightening everyone's day.
Great to see people working and having fun at the same time.
Keep up the good work 👍👍
Thanks buddy
Amazing and awesome job 💯
Yeah you can make some block a tackle to go around the top of a tree and pull it down out of that cable
Great video, I enjoyed this one, Great job guys.
Thanks
I know he ain't very tall but Aaron chainsawing above the head.... Kickback city & that ain't no good for no-one
No gloves-no helmet-livin on the edge!!
If you placed the blocks with the holes up/down, the blocks will be more likely to sink into the ground. By placing them horizontal, they will not sink as much. Just looking at the location of the container there will be a significant amount of water runoff from the building and road. I bought a new 14x60 mobile home for my lake lot. The professional setup used two blocks horizontal side by side with a single stack of vertical blocks. There were a total of eight piers.
Dirt Perfect, I wanted to REUSE that tin!!! Lol.
👍
Mike, you could have used the warning light I sent you for the white service truck while moving the container, and I hope you get the wheel loader warning light set up soon. Maybe get local PD or Sheriff to block the road during the move. You're the Mayor, pull some strings. :) Let me know if you want a second magnet mount for a different vehicle. Take care and be safe. BW
This was before I had them feel bad have tried to send you several emails not for sure why they won’t go thru but thanks so much will get out to good use
Good video again pretty good operating get that tan off the building looks like a pretty go job my friend that was good work getting that building out good operating be safe in this crazy world
Thanks Glenn
Awesome Job!!
Thanks
bit of advice with FORK EXTENSIONS Mike, they work better when they are put on FIRST before doing the job in hand lol. YES I'm talking from experience
lol got it
Man behind the scenes is goddamn hilarious 😂
If you don't it's man behind the scenes problem because he didn't cut it small enough
i thought for sure you were going to bend the forks. one going down to much. Aron your the spotter. should have said something. I'm glad you did not bend them. soft ground luckly. ya the blocks as well. lol
Y'all be safe and have a blessed day
Beautiful spot! Great work Mike!
Thanks
When things go like that with good humor and a little rain to make the sweat sting where the pollen of that tree left on you was then its a great day and not really work... I imagine that the guy watching you take one piece of tin off at a time said that is how they make their money jacking the clock... personally worth every minute of not pulling it out of the trash. Great video.. keep em coming like that an I send you some popsicles for the heat. This has been a strange weather year. For sure
Right abt 37.39 wouldn't been a good time for the Police to come around the corner chasing someone?
Lol nope
So enjoyable.
Thanks
Great video Mike as always. I enjoy your video. I see the Volvo working good. The Man Behind the Scenes is video in your good work
Thanks Robert
Man I wanted to comment on the blocks! I'm to slow oh well. Hey good videos.
I would’ve dumped that box in the river
Why that’s a crime
What if you cribbed it up a few feet to pick it up from the high side?? Just a thought..
Man you guys are some kind of brave. That had me grinding my teeth multiple times. Fast action video and the storage shed is creeping down while you guys working under it. Holly Smokes.
Thanks
I hope your brakes don’t fail on the loader.
Have backup
Y'all get into everything and have fun doing it
Thanks Robert
Concrete blocks will break when you lay him like that they're made with the holes to be up and down
the house is close to the river, do they ever get flooded out
No
Tshirt request: "You're too short to be my umbrella man"
Lol
You have the Finesse of a butterfly it was a piece of equipment the size of an elephant 😆
Thanks
As demonstrated by DP today's word is "finesse!" 😁
Thanks
Does it always rain in a DP video?? Same for Capt Kleeman too?
Aaron isn’t too short to be your umbrella man.
You just need a taller umbrella ☂
Good point
You need one of those LD18 progressive thumbs!
Why would I buy Something I already have sorry don’t understand
Dirt Perfect you need to check out let’s dig’s new bucket and thumb. I figured you knew about it. It looks like something out of a transformers movie
Yup same set up I have aging why would I buy something I already have don’t understand your thoughts
A pair of dangerous cowboys !
God bless and be safe
Thanks
Excellent job that old cat still a horse it makes your day go by faster when u have people that are fun to be with. Maybe this winter you might make a hinged tailgate. Anyways keep up the excellent video keep em coming. Thank you
Good thing about a job like this is... there’s a lot of idle time for the helper to video and narrate.... Oh wait... maybe that’s not such a good thing!
Nice job all the way around!
lol thanks William
Next you will have letsdig18s thumb on the Volvo. LOL
Same set up as his
@@DirtPerfect did you see his new and improved thumb from AMI?
I dont know why the MBTS was sweating, he was laying down on the job when you were setting the building back up.
lol I know right
Put some air in the dump truck tires, and blocks sinking into base rock is slow, when they explode.....
Huh not don’t following sorry
You need the new AMI Letsdig18 thumb.
Lol same thing I got different brand will pass sorry
Good heck you guys don't even remember the 70s little lone the 40s.
I remember the 70s Lol
Letsdig18 wouldn’t hit the Volvo.
I was watching how close Mike was getting the shed to the Volvo's counterweight, and thinking if Chris Guins watched this he would be screaming at the screen. It was definitely a wee bit slapdash today.
HA! i was coming here to say pretty much the same thing.
That was about as much as that loader wanted to mess with.
All that metal roofing is in such good shape I bet Aaron could take it back and just tell them it was left over from a job and get a FULL refund. Except for a couple MINOR DENTS &SCRATCHES ?
Future reference, block should sit flat , not on their side.Other than that , quick easy job well done.
Did Officer Hoover sign off on that over width load?
Yup
good video
Thanks
Are you going to get the AMI bucket and let’s dig thumb for the Volvo? It’s a nice looking attachment!
Same set up I already have why buy new
Was it a spoon or fork that you look for?
Either
That thing must hold some sentimental value.
Cheep storage
Great job in moving that container, certainly wasn't straight forward.
Thanks
Confuses say do not tick off man with chain saw may pull back bloody stump LOL glad u 2 dont have any fun when working together stay safe
Thanks dan
You could move stuff like that a little easier with a bigger loader. LoL I am guessing the loader you have doesn't have diff locks, or you figured that would have gotten you more stuck. I do think Aaron could have helped you get the forks under the container with a little less dirt.
Chris @letsdig18 prolly passed out when you bumped that Volvo ex with the trailer at 34:06. Nice video as always, very entertaining.
Thanks
bet you didnt find any cutlery lol
Is that a Porsche in the background with a white cover and red stripes?
No don’t think so
You came close to being on the evening news... many times!
I know that good right 😜
Why so high up off the ground?
It’s temporary
Having fun making money or making money having fun.
Moving buildings is a pain in the butt
Yes it is
Good morning Mike
Good morning
Good video 👌
Thanks
How many sheets did u save?
None
👍
You are sketching your Volvo. Chris would have your job for that. Speaking of Chris when is the New Dirt Perfect Bucket coming out? Lol
ok guys, you put those blocks the wromg way. when the block is placed you are not suppose to see the holes! 😂
Ok
I was disappointed, no spoon😂
lol
I would have saved a bunch of the lumber or some firewood as blocks to build up under the box so you don't have to dig into the dirt to lift it. Then, have some lumber to build a skirt under the new location. But then, I can't let a good 2x go to the dump. Where I live, a "Free, you disassemble" on CraigsList would have had the tin and long 2xs gone with the rest left on the ground. It would have looked like it was being attacked by a swarm of ants.
When is Aaron going to learn to run something besides a chain saw and his mouth? Looks like he made it 10 feet in the loader. Put the camera in the cab of a piece of equipment and give his a precision task to accomplish. It will be fun to hear him complain..err, explain about the difficulties others put in his way. Very entertaining.
No market for used tin?!
This was the third building it was on its junk
Hey DP, You HAVE ordered your Letsdig18 Branded AMI bucket and thumb, RIGHT?
No sir
@@DirtPerfect 48" bucket and thumb on the 140? 🤔 😉😁
lol no sir
Why didn't the owner spend a few hundred bucks and get a load of stone to make a level pad for the container to sit on. Now he needs a ramp to get into the container.
Wast of money temp storage stay tuned
I think some one is starting to get a little cocky there mbts
Lol
What would officer hover say to that load on the road???
Nothing with the loader
Thanks love the video Michael you must know something I don't know I'll guarantee you those blocks don't last a year underneath their they might last a year but they won't last two it's people put more and more stuff in their those blocks are going to crumble and if you're lucky it won't tilt into the full Barn that needs to be taken off of there and put two loads of gravel in there I didn't block it up I know I know it's easy to be an armchair quarterback but I've been there and done that and had to bring the equipment back in pull the container up away from the wall reskin the side of the pole barn and then don't do loads of Rock and compact to level pad and then put the container back on the pad and I use the good concrete blocks to the ones the old-fashioned ones remember the ones that are made out of actual concrete sorry to rain on your parade but it would be easier now to talk your customer into doing the gravel thing and have him pay for the gravel then it would for you to have to skin the side of the building and remove your equipment in and you have to pay for the whole thing just a suggestion love your Channel I Miss The Itachi thanks dude later peace out
thats is the weakest side of the blocks.
Stop complaining it is only 9 Deg. C where I am right now hahahaha ...
Lol sorry
hmmm looks as if i was a little late... lol
I would of salvaged the roof metal and 2x6 's sorry a waste of materials if you ask me. I would of bought every last piece of it.
RON SALES AT BR549 still for sale!
Come on down
Got pretty scarry there a few times. What are the qualifications to be the umbrella man on the Dirt Perfect crew?
Lol good ?
