    I would love to see how effective patriot systems are in DCS.
    Ukraine military said they have never shot down a single KH-22.
    That would mean they have also never shot down a Kinzhal.
    Do DCS anti missile systems shoot down these missiles?
    If they do that would mean DCS strongly diverting from reality.
    DCS anti missile always seems overly effective.
    I don't think there is proof of this.
    Just marketing.

      Iskander is known to be deploying decoys during the attack, this means that some of the intercentions might be against decoys. Don't know if kinzhal does the same but it's very likely since these missiles are closely related.
      Some russian cruise missiles have flare launchers too, I've seen a clip of a Ukrainian zu23-2 engaging some type of cruise missiles that was firing singular flares every few sec.

      @@billwhoever2830 I've been saying this since day 1. Russia wouldn't even have the means to launch that many khinzals at the same time , in all likelihood the Ukrainians thought they shot down dozens of Khinzals when only a handful hit their target after dispensing decoys which looked like more Khinzals. Then surprise, when Ukrainians look at their radar records and see dozens of contacts and only a handful of impacts. They assume they shot down 90% of the Khinzals.

    Personally I think that if SM-3 could have been used as it would have irl the 8 missiles would have been intercepted because SM-3 is much longer range than SM-6 so the interception would have taken place further away from the ships.. and if two or so missiles snuck through then the big load of SM-6s could have dealt with that.

    • @T-SUS
      @T-SUS Před 6 měsíci +9

      There's just one problem. In reality, they do not have a pure ballistic trajectory. They move in a maneuver with large overloads, including on the passive part of the trajectory and at the start on the active part too. This is the first. Second, they have jamming systems. For example, the release of false targets. There is a distant example. The SS-26 9M723 missile throws out steel needles, which are almost identical in RCS and are quite difficult to select for radar.

    • @T-SUS
      @T-SUS Před 6 měsíci +5

      By the way, this is one of the reasons why in Ukraine there is an extremely low percentage of interception of the 9M723 version, even by the latest versions of Patriot Pak 3. It is designed to intercept ballistics, but it does not have time to filter out interference, which according to RCS are identical + there are problems with kinetic interception of a target making a sharp maneuver on visibility in the last part of the trajectory

    • @Cris-xy2gi
      @Cris-xy2gi Před 6 měsíci +3

      @@T-SUS A mach 10 projectile is not going to be able to make maneuvers significant enough to 'evade' modern interceptors in any meaningful way. That is a nonsense claim. If anything constant 'evasive' maneuvers would slow down the warhead, both giving the defenders more time to hit it and make it easier to hit in the first place.
      Maneuvering ballistic missile warheads primary benefit is allowing them to hit moving targets. That's it.

    • @ObiWanShinobi917
      @ObiWanShinobi917 Před 6 měsíci +2

      Everything you just said is a bunch of hockeypuck Chinese propaganda. How much does Xi pay you? Lol. Hypersonic weapons CANNOT maneuver to avoid missiles. First of all, achieving a terminal speed of Mach 5+ at low altitude is very hard due to the stress and heat put on the missile. By the time a "Hypersonic" weapon impacts, it's no longer moving at Hypersonic speeds.
      2nd, any slight movement at Hypersonic speeds can destroy the missile because, again, physics. Not to mention that every time a missile "maneuvers" it bleeds speed and energy and becomes less dangerous.
      3rd, I don't know where you're getting information from, but Russia is having a hard enough time getting their standard missiles to work properly and not shoot down their own planes. And the Patriot systems are still shooting down the vast majority of their attacks. At least the ones that still have ammo@@T-SUS

    • @T-SUS
      @T-SUS Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@ObiWanShinobi917 If you understood the topic, you wouldn’t write your nonsense. Firstly, in Russia, for example, it is not customary to call such weapons “hypersonic” (except on TV). For example, the same “Kinjal” is an air-launched aeroballistic missile, not hypersonic. The so-called hypersonic speed of Mach 10 in both Kinjal and DF21 is maintained only in the upper layers of the atmosphere in the active part of the trajectory. On the passive (final part of the trajectory) the speed of both the dagger and the DF21, AGM-183 is within 2M and is capable of active maneuver. Last year, one Kinjal fell in one of the regions of Russia. Among the debris in the photo were passive jamming devices. I really want to know how you will use them on the passive part of the trajectory on 5M+ :)

    Most military missiles are solid fuel. Very few are liquid-fueled as they are more complicated and either you can have something hypergolic (very toxic) or fuel on the pad which makes it pretty non-tactical.

    Loved the video @grimreapers! Can't wait for the next video man! More Great Mods by CH and a Complimentary Wargame to test them out! Just one thing of Note for the American Naval Terminology Cap, The United States Navy has Divisions and Squadrons for the Destroyers and Cruisers. Take The Battle of Empress Augusta Bay in November 1943 for Instance, the U.S. Naval Forces there Consisted of the First 4 Ships of the Cleveland-class Light Cruisers (USS Cleveland (CL-55), USS Columbia (CL-56), USS Montpelier (CL-57) and USS Denver (CL-58)) with USS Montpelier as the Flagship of the Force as well as Cruiser Division 12 (CRUDIV12) under the Command of Rear Admiral Aaron S. Merrill and 8 Fletcher-class Destroyers for Destroyer Squadron 23 (DESRON23) which had Destroyer Division 45 (DESDIV45) (USS Charles Ausburne (DD-570), USS Dyson (DD-572), USS Stanly (DD-478) and USS Claxton (DD-571)) and Destroyer Division 46 (DESDIV46) (USS Spence (DD-512), USS Thatcher (DD-514), USS Converse (DD-509) and the USS Foote (DD-511)) with Captain Arleigh-Burke in Command of DesDiv 45 from the USS Charles Ausburne and Commander Bernard Austin in Command of DesDiv 46 from the USS Foote.
    For Destroyers, Divisions will usually have 4 Ships while Squadrons will have 2 Divisions with either on ship from one of the Divisions or a Dedicated Ship being the Flagship of the Squadron, then you have the Groups which are usually 2 to 4 Squadrons. Most of the time, you wouldn't see entire Destroyer Groups and so that particular level was mainly for the Aircraft Carriers which had Task Force's of 12 Aircraft Carriers in Either 2 Task Groups of 6 Aircraft Carriers, 6 Task Groups of 2 Aircraft Carriers or any Combination do long as you had 12 Aircraft Carriers. This didn't apply to Light Aircraft Carriers as they were mainly used to Bolster the Amount of Aircraft Available for the Task Force.
    As mentioned in the F-22 Raptors versus Houthi F-5's video, I have the Beaches for the Initial Landings on the Island of Cyprus for Operation Shoestring II and the Set-up for the Areas of Port of Limassol (as Terminal Spycakes on Donkk in Stormworks), Larnaca (as the Chemical Factory in Stormworks) and Port of Famagusta (as Terminal Camodo in Stormworks).
    So for Reference, you'll need to look at these Locations on Google Maps as well so you have an Idea as to where you'll be Going and Where the Defense's are going to Be.
    The Beaches for the Initial Landings are Rikkos Beach and Yeroskipol Municipal Beach for the First Wave, 6 LCVP's with 36 Troops and 2 LCM 3's with 60 Troops Each per Beach for the First Wave with a Total of 336 Troops per Beach and a grand total of 672 Troops and Venus Beach for the Second Wave with 9 LCVP's and 4 LCM 3's with the Remaining 554 Troops, the Second Wave having 36 Troops in 8 of the LCVP's and the remaining 16 Troops in the 9th LCVP and all 4 LCM 3's loaded with 60 Troops.
    If you look at Rikkos and Yeroskipol Beaches in Google Maps (the Scale to 500 meters) you'll see what appear to be Sandbars just shy of the Surf so Caution is Highly Recommended here. Similarly over on Venus Beach the Northernmost Quarter has two Objects in the water that might cause problems so focus the Second wave between those and the Aphotdite Point. Venus Beach is where the LST(2)'s unload the Vehicles.
    The Defense of Port of Limassol will have 2 Flakpanzer Gepards as they are the Closest to the Self-Propelled Anti-Aircraft Tank for the AI Forces in Stormworks. One will be by the CPA Gate to the Southwest by the Nearby Roundabout and the Other by the Cargo Container Area nearby the Omonoias Roundabout. Both are to be out in the Open as the Self-Propelled Anti-Aircraft Tanks are in Stormworks.
    The Defense of Larnaca will just have a Single Flakpanzer Gepard. This will be Located at Larnaca Harbor in the Parking Lot/Cargo Container Area close to where you'll see an off ramp leading to it. This is similar to the Self-Propelled Anti-Aircraft Tank at the Chemical Factory as it's literally at the Open Gate, facing the Ocean.
    The Defense for Port of Famagusta will be where the Majority of the Aerial and Naval Assets for the AI Forces will come into play. Even then, this can be a Mixed bag as there are cases where I've seen on CZcams that you'll have 2 or 3 AI Fast Attack Craft along with 2 or 3 AI Destroyers Moving Around Blasting away at you while you've got 1 or 2 AI Eurocopter Tiger Attack Helicopters or even a Single Tiger and maybe a Single Bell UH-1Y Huey "Venom" Transport Helicopter Flying around Strafing you, let alone the Occasional Eurofighter Typhoon or two strafing you or launching Rockets at you. This is also on top of the fact that they randomly Spawn albeit usually near the Capture Points which are at almost every Part of the Map on Stormworks with the Exception of the Arctic although that might be due to Nobody making any Cargo Runs to and From the Arctic with the Search and Destroy DLC (aka the Weapons DLC) enabled. This might be just as well as the Navigation in the Arctic by sea is Especially Choked with Icebergs, so it would be easy to deal with the AI Naval Forces just by Forcing them to Beach Themselves onto an Iceberg.
    For the Fast Attack Craft, use the La Combattante-class since it looks closer to what you'll find in Stormworks: Build and Rescue with the Search and Destroy DLC. For the Destroyers, The Type 12I (Improved) Leander-class Frigates as they also look similar to what you'll find in Stormworks: Build and Rescue with the Search and Destroy DLC.
    The Eurofighter Typhoons of the AI Air Force has two Air-to-Air Missiles which they never use, as well as their Light Autocannons. Use the Actual Eurofighter Typhoons for a Bit of Realism as that will be something that I Myself can take care of in an Add-on that I'm planning out and have been for the past few years. For the Air-to-Air Missiles, you can use your Choice of The AIM-9 Sidewinder, Thhe MBDA Meteor, The AIM-120 AMRAAM and The AIM-132 ASRAAM. For the Rockets that you'll see on the Eurofighter Typhoons for the AI Air Force, use 4 AGM-65 Mavericks or 4 Sets of Mavericks depending upon how they're used in DCS. They also have the centerline Fuel Tank on them as well.
    The Eurocopter Tiger Attack Helicopters of the AI Air Force has Rocket Pods on the Hardpoints. Use the Hydra 70 rockets for both Inner and Outer Hardpoints.
    The UH-1Y Huey "Venom" Transport Helicopter is really a Huey Venom. Use Hydra 70 rockets and Pintle Mounted .50 Caliber Machine Guns for it and that's about it.
    The Battle Tank in the AI Forces is probably closer to either the German Leopard 1A5 or the American M60A3 Patton Tanks. The Hull and Chassis look to be that of the Leopard while the Turret looks to be a Horrendously Malformed M60A3's to the Point where it looks like an American Football with a Turret Bustle on the Back. For the Sake of Simplicity, we'll go with the Leopard 1A5 Tanks. These can sometimes spawn in place of the Gepards in the same spots.
    Let me know what you think about this and I'll catch you in your next video man! Sorry if this is a Long read, I spent about two hours typing this up and wanted to make sure that you had enough details to get things working as well as can be expected in DCS.

    The main point with re-adding the anti shipping capability to the Tomahawk is that it is a mainline upgrade for ALL missiles. Every single block IV tomahawk will be converted to the block Va giving the USA thousands of long range anti ship missiles. Yes they are slow and likely to be intercepted but during current operations Arleigh Burkes carry around 50-60 Tomahawks. A Typical Carrier Strike Group has two to 3 Burkes so you have 150-180 weapons that can be used for antishipping or land attack. Not to mention the Naval Strike Missile replacing the Harpoon and increasing numbers of LRASMs for the carrier air wing and eventually VLS launch and US carrier groups are making a major pivot to anti surface warfare.

    I've complained about this before but I see a big problem with the way the SM missiles work against hypersonic missiles. In your scenarios they always seem to arc high above the incoming missiles before diving down. That makes sense for attack cruise missiles, but I see no use for that method here. Turning Combined Arms into a proper RTS is the simplest way for ED to make DCS come alive. Current breed of AI does not understand context much at all and will never be able react in a sufficiently dynamic way, like deciding how much to shoot at one time and at what. It works okayish sometimes when you simply make things smash into each other, but cannot do tactics to avoid losses n ting. On the other hand, I do not think that trying to improve it is worth the cost.
    Olympus thing already shows about 50-60% of what is needed. Grouping has to be made flexible, and units need to controllable individually. One day, a strategy AI could be trained to make use of the RTS interface and we could simply prompt its objectives in the mission editor.

      @@hughmungus2760 Possibly, but I'm thinking of something very tactical and low level since AI requires micro management from time to time. Combined Arms can do a lot already but the interface is terrible and everything is bugged, and all units in a group act as a blob. Artillery is probably the thing that works best right now.
      For ground units, action should be something between ArmA and Command & Conquer, where one player handles 10 - 30 units at a time, leading from a tank / other vehicle (possibly hi-fidelity at some point) and F10 that has a separate RTS mode.
      Planes will require a different approach, but I want to be able to tell them when to crank, fire, turn cold, turn back in, run way etc. in real time, preferably with keyboard commands.

    Cap let me educate you on why Hypersonics are not as impressive as you think.... Russia vs US supplied Patriot is a prime example here...
    Hypersonic missiles even maneuvering ones have EXTREMELY LIMITED ADJUSTMENT capabilities, this is PHYSICS and its a LAW, not a freaking suggestion.
    So what you have a missile going "ok, target is here going this fast, to this location, so I need to be here to intercept", it's rather simple math.
    Why does the US not use hypersonic missiles? Because we have been working on using LASERS, you know things that go the SPEED OF LIGHT.
    It's really that simple, we were testing hypersonic missiles in the 1960's, the lack of maneuvering just makes them predictable, where as using subsonic missiles equipped with terrain masking, ECM, and AI with a maneuvering profile plus low observable tech is superior. It does not matter if it takes 30 minutes to fly to a target vs 5 minutes in a hypersonic if the target gets smoked vs your hypersonic gets intercepted.

    • @hughmungus2760
      @hughmungus2760 Před 6 měsíci +1

      the advantages of hypersonics is their timely response and the reduction of protection rings for SAMs to basically nothing. Notice how anywhere that didn't have a patriot directly stationed on top of wasn't protected from Khinzal strikes.
      Khinzals aren't even a good example for hypersonics either, their manoeuvrability is very limited vs true hypersonic glide weapons like the DF17 or hypersonic cruise missiles like the Zircon.

    • @Spartan536
      @Spartan536 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@hughmungus2760 "Maneuvering Hypersonics" is not what you think it is. You might be thinking it will move like a Tomahawk does but it does not. Maneuvering Hypersonic missiles move just a few degrees due to the insanely dense atmospheric pressures going against them even at super high altitudes, this is PHYSICS AT WORK.
      That few degrees of maneuvering they get will not save them from modern ABM systems or even modern SAM's.
      The Patriot system that was given to Ukraine was an Early 2000's version and it was still able to engage the mass Khinzal strike with relative ease, to the point where the developers of the Khinzal are being imprisoned due to its exceptionally poor performance.

      The entire point of hypersonics is to make it nearly impossible to intercept midcourse with manuverablility and make it significantly more difficult to intercept at terminal due to speed.
      You're putting alot of faith in ukrainian propoganda, Khinzals like Iskanders have penetration decoys which for all intents and purposes look like additional warheads. Whats happened is a patriot took a shot at one or two khinzals which deployed half a dozen decoys and thinks it shot down 90% of them.

    • @Spartan536
      @Spartan536 Před 6 měsíci

      @@hughmungus2760 You are putting too much faith into Russian Propaganda.
      Moving a few degrees does NOT make an intercepting missile miss, if that were the case then aircraft would charge head onto SAM sites and just slightly alter course to have the missiles miss. It's the same damn physics at work as when I fly aircraft IRL, I know how this works because I deal with it on a daily basis as a pilot.
      If your decoy claims were true then ALL of the Patriot systems the US sent Ukraine would have been destroyed... yet not a single one has been destroyed, interesting.

The plasma will block the active radar, but there are ways to maintain communication. There is no plasma behind the warhead. When the missile flies near the target, the warhead separates from the secondary rocket. The active radar is located on the secondary rocket. After the warhead separates, it uses the rear window to maintain communication with the secondary rocket radar located in adjacent space. Finally 4 Ticos would like be in a BG with a Carrier or LHPD so F-35s would hit Island based missles before they fleet in range.
