  • A 1970's home movie cine film shot in Whitby, Yorkshire. Some views taken from the A171 road bridge and some from the harbour showing the swing bridge. Nice to contrast with the last film I posted taken in Whitby about 10 years earlier.
Please subscribe to channel for more vintage cine films from yesteryear.
Do you have old home movies you would like to convert to digital like the films on my channel?
I can save your vintage cine films, camcorder tapes, and VHS to either a memory stick or DVD
Contact me at dave.eldergill@yahoo.co.uk if you are interested
If you would like a digital copy of any of the films on my CZcams channel, edited without titles and music please contact me.
I have the files as recorded from the scanner and can re-edit them to create the stabilised and colour corrected MP4 file, but I will not add my watermarks or titles. I would however make a charge for the service of providing the film. Let me know if you are interested. Contact me at dave.eldergill@yahoo.co.uk

I love Whitby, it's a magical place. At night the East Cliff town looks like an old Hammer film set!

Vintage cine films can give such a unique view of how things have changed over time

This can't be the 70s. The new bridge wasn't built until 1980.

@@DaveEldergillCineFilm don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic video! Just definitely not 70s. If I was to guess I'd say maybe 90s.

@@Beirdo267 Yes it definitely later than the other cine film I have from Whitby. It was part of a collection bought from eBay and all the other films were from the 1970s so I just presumed. It needs local knowledge for details such as when the bridge was built.

@@DaveEldergillCineFilm It's early to mid-80s. No co-op, active Whitehall shipyard. Great film.

I love the clip. It goes perfectly with this music. It's all quite dreamy! What is the music btw? Many thanks.

Hi Glad you like the clip. The music is a track available on the CZcams free to use audio library. It is called "Outlaw's Farewell (part I)" by Reed Mathis. CZcams have a large selection of free music you can use for your films, some which needs attribution and some which does not, the difficult part is finding the right music for a clip, something which adds to the film rather than being a distraction.

Hi, I collect vintage cine films and after scanning and editing, put them on my channel. The films come from many sources such as car boot sales or now during lockdown, ebay. I never know what will be on them until I scan them so it can be a real voyage of discovery and sometimes impossible to know where or when they were taken. I usually try to post a new film at least every week so check out the channel to see what I find.
