    I have an XP1K, my buddy has an S1K. They're very evenly matched in fast trail riding. The S is a little more nimble and quicker in tight turns, the XP can hit the big stuff faster. In real-world riding, it evens out.

    I was kinda hoping for a sort of XP treatment with the redesign by slightly changing the suspension mounting points inward towards the center of the frame there by making the A arms longer and giving more travel to say, 15 inches front and back, and possibly an extra inch or 2 of ground clearance by adding 29-30 inch tires. Use the General's XP arched arms to give better clearance and slightly stretch the wheelbase an extra couple of inches without going over the buggy's overall dimensions. Keeps the width 60 inches, and has the possibility of setting up for plusher ride with the extra travel.

    As an atv rider I hope these smaller units gain in popularity. Where I trail in northern Wisconsin 70% of the machines are sxs's and they are usually not the small ones. It's really like taking a sedan into the woods and It's annoying as hell when they take up the entire trail. I get the appeal, I almost bought a razer 570 instead of a 570 touring, but it's hard to share the trails with these overgrown go carts

    Dirt Trax can you say that these models are becoming more reliable as time has gone on? I’ve had some doubts with Polaris reliability in the past. I’m not taking a shoot at Polaris just wondering if you think their quality is improving.

    • @dirttraxtv
      @dirttraxtv  Před 3 lety +17

      This is such a heavily debated topic and this reply will probably spark some comments, but here goes. Our feeling is quality of these machines is improving and with proper maintenance under average driving conditions, they'll continue to operate well. The issue that gets ignored is that a one hundred hp machine is going to get driven hard. Failures may happen - not always but sometimes. The problem is the guys that experience failures are usually the loudest voices. The guys that experience no issues don't have time to post because they're busy riding. The key is to do your homework before you buy and find a good dealer that'll help you if you need it and get you back on the trail quick.

    Awesome, have there been big changes since 2020? I have my eye on a nice clean used 2020 trail S. The guy is asking $12k. It has 1045 miles on it. Seems like a decent deal to me? Any thoughts? I live in the northeast. I think the trail model would excel in my area being it’s all woods riding

  • @mattdyer489
    @mattdyer489 Před 3 lety +1

    I have a 17 rzr s 1000. I will say that it is by far the best performing sxs in its class for woods riding. And once you get the clutching right, they will pull the front wheels off the ground on a hard launch. Actually have pictures and a video of me pulling wheelies with mine. The thing that I don't like is how the reliability has taken a absolute dump, once I hit 2k miles. That seems to be pretty typical for Polaris though. Which is why my next sxs will be a talon.

    • @dirttraxtv
      @dirttraxtv  Před 3 lety +2

      Interesting! I'd like to buy a used RZR and then do a review on how its held up and go over any maintenance issues we see it needing.

    From a pure performance standpoint what’s the better machine: a rzr 900xp or a first iteration rzr 1000s? 1000s has 12 more HP but is the trailing arm rear suspension worth it in the suspension department? Can find both within a similar price range and miles

    I sold my 50inch wide 800 RZR. Does anybody make a 50inch wide SXS at this time? I use an 8ft bed pickup and my loading dock is 5 by 10 and hate using my trailer for tolls and crossing state lines. Thanks

      Polaris still makes a 50" one, and then this one in the video the 60" also. And the bigger non trail versions.

    Hey Luke. How is the cab heat in this generation? My 2018 900S gets pretty warm. I insulated the tunnel which helped, but there is still a fair amount of heat from behind the seats.

    Does those "trail" SSVs flip also as easy as their bigger brothers?

    • @dirttraxtv
      @dirttraxtv  Před rokem +1

      You could probably flip any machine if you drive like an idiot.

    • @DiegoHernandez-po2it
      @DiegoHernandez-po2it Před rokem +1

      Coming from someone who has flipped a trail S it depends completely on your driving. It is a little easier to flip compared to a my brothers turbo s but I found that my sisters 4 seater xp1k handles worse than my trail s. The trail s is a hell of a machine and I enjoy driving it more than a turbo s. Just don’t drive like an idiot and it will be really hard to flip
