  • HOW TO MOUNT AN OUTBOARD MOTOR CORRECTLY - Step By Step Dos and Don'ts!!
    We have been rebuilding my buddys Key West Bay Reef. We got the boat for a good price and my friend and I bought a couple of brand new Mercury 150 four strokes from an auction. Was a steal of a deal, so we bought them. I put mine on my Shoalwater and he wanted me to find him a boat to hang this motor on. With the crazy high prices of boats since the pandemic, it took me almost a year to find a good deal. Anyway this motor has been in his garage the whole time. I fixed the transom that the previous owner caused by over tightening the motor bolts and also put a transom save and a plate on there for added piece of mind. Anyway, check out the vid and let me know what you think in the comments!

    Show me how to mount an outboard 😅 without mounting the outboard 😂🎉😅😂 having the line on the motor level with the bottom of the boat was, a gem. Thanks for the facts.

    I use to work with stainless nuts and bolts and they will gall/seize up when impacted. You're absolutely right.... only way to prevent this is to first brush on a little stainless never seize on the bolt threads. It will prevent seizing every single time. Good video by the way.
    The marine company that mounted our motor messed up on it and that's why I'm here.
    Disheartening to see your brand new boat taking on water. I was relieved to discover that it was just leaking through the Transom bolts though.

      I actually had it made at a local metal shop. Just had it made out of 1/4 inch aluminum and had them bend it on a metal brake. It ended up costing like 180 dollars. Thanks for watching!

    Have always used 4200. With 5200 removal is almost never. If you can get it loose you will most likly distroy the transom.

    • @JackedUpFishing
      @JackedUpFishing  Před rokem

      For sure if you don’t know how to do it correctly. We usually pick up and put pressure with a tractor or cherry picker then start cutting the 5200 with new razor knives. Once started it pops off.

    • @JackedUpFishing

      The harbor freight one works great. Outboards do not weight that much and using the lifts are 1500-2000lb capacity. Good luck and let me know how it goes! I am hanging mine this weekend too!!! We gotta stop working on these boats and go use them right!

      I bought the Harbor Freight 1-ton crane for $250. It lifted my 12’ OptiMax 200Hp at about 500 pounds with crane’s arm fully extended. (You lose lift capacity the further out the arm is extended. Also, by jack fluid to fill the crane’s tank, then bleed it before using.) My Opti is lifted w/an eye bolt ($20) that screws into top, center, of flywheel. Crane was easy to move as it had decent casters.

    I hate the term "cherry picker" for your lift (much more decent term). Cherry pickers (young men putting sex notches on their belt from violating virgins under the guise of "love") are the scum of the earth. Please refer to your lift in a term that doesn't invoke horrible memories in some of the women who may be watching your video.

      Your comment makes you sound absolutely insane. It's called a cherry picker because of the resemblance to a device invented to pick cherries in an orchard instead of using ladders
