The electronic locks are giving me pause in concern. What are the safeguards for these smart features? Are there firewalls put in place to protect against hackers and malware?
Most likely. Windows and standard locks aren't exactly going to stop anyone from breaking in if they really want too. Alarm systems, your home network, phone, or any other device isn't going to stop a hacker wanting to hack you.

Why does it weigh > 9 tons ?
I just looked up how much a house weighs and found out it's about 200 pounds per square foot. This is 377 square feet so it should weigh 75,000 pounds. It looks like 18,000 pounds is actually pretty light.

Why build down exactly? Does it require less sq ft or money to do so? How is it a better option than building up? I wouldn't want to live 40 stories underground. The view would be terrible.
