I OWN my yamaha calimatic 175cc 1982 . I love its 2 strockes engine and 6 gerars. These is not too original cos it has some parts changed and the engine is prepared and improved . Also these ride is minimalist. But it runs fantastic. My best toy. Greetings from Ecuador.
the transmission is synchronized and by backing off the throttle allows the shift up or blipping the throttle allows for smooth downshifts. there are people out there that shift up without letting off the throttle which I don't do because that practice is very hard on shift forks, the shift drum and the engagement dogs on the gears. letting off the throttle takes away the accelerating loads on the gears and allows for a clean shift, I never broke a transmission that way at all over 42 years of riding. I broke a trans when the chain came off and jammed the transmission breaking the gears on a 1970 DT1 I had back in the 80's and a hydro lock situation on a 1974 MT250 with a 1973 CR250 engine in the 90's crossing a stream at high speed. these were the only times I destroyed a transmission and it was not due to my shifting style.
Yo también tengo una calimatic 175 6 velocidades es mi sueño echo realidad acabos de cambiar pistón y quedó muy chingona saludos a todos aquellos que tienen un motor 2 tiempos en especial ala yamaha dt
Thanks! this video was made when I had a Big One expansion chamber and a FMF Turbine Core II silencer on it. I am planning to modify the original pipe removing the things the EPA did which was additional baffles and such things in the pipe that limited short circuiting of the exhaust port and transfer ports which made for a really restrictive pipe so it will work better for the modified ports in the engine.
the engines rev very quickly on these 175's and the dampening inside the tach can't quite handle it. I have the same problem on the Super DT400 project bike as well. it has the lighter flywheel from the Power Dynamo ignition system and a MX400B top end on it.

Great vintage bike
Runs good! Looks quick.
how fast does it go?
why are you shifting without clutch?
Bas Manders called speed shifting

I have one of these from 1980 tho, but why don't you use the clutch to shift at high rpm????
Vaughn Delay cuse at high rpm as soon as you let off there is a split second were the trans mishon disengages
Very beutiful bike
Thanks!
Awesome bike! How much do you weigh?
Are 78,79,80 and 81 dt125/175 are all 6 volts?
Yes, they are 6 volt.
@@Bigdog302V8 thanks :)
Yes, since 1998 the DT-K already used a 12V system, although the lights only work with the motorcycle on.
Great bike
I'm picking up a blue 78 pretty soon
A im 1981 is so great

sounds awesome, is that the original pipe?

Nice! you're tachymeter has parkinson?
+Sacha Louet my dt175 does the same thing, Ive seen multiple others do so as well, I think it was just a flaw in the bike
+Sacha Louet yeah, the tach is very twitchy on this bike. I had seen this on other DT175's as well.

It’s a Calimatic
Why you shift so early in the beginning
cold engine.
