  • Gainer exit. Apparently they put lights on these things so the pilot can tell you when it's time to get out.

    ART, The air does cool down, but you have enough adrenaline to not really notice. It is fun! Even from the first jump

    The green light is the pilots way of saying that the aircraft is safe and configured in the correct position to allow you to exit safely. The spotter/jump master is responsible for spotting/ensuring the correct separation and exit order respectfully.

    Roughly 1'10" of free fall… great camera work. Nice jump… Also… That city looks very interesting to me. It must be a paradise for a mathematician. I mean the streets look so perfectly straight, also the fields are shaped in nice rectangle shaped squares… Thanks for sharing

    (points at light) keep yur pants on !!!
    FWIW the spot was long. With that many people to get out, I would want to get out over the airport. Just to prove my point, you had to work a little to make it back to the DZ. And with little separation on the exit, it got a little crowded in the landing area. Just my thoughts.
    The view in FF was incredible, thanks for sharing.

      Exactly what is was thinking. I have done many a skyvan runs at Eloy, and exit is usually within thirty seconds of the door.

    I recognize this place as skydive sebastion in Sebastion Fl. Really nice drop zone. It happens to be windy a lot here tho, so it may have not been that long of a spot as people think. Winds aloft can be crazy up there at this location, so exiting right over the dropzone might have put them landing off...

    I don't understand why they shit themselves over the jump light. You can spot with your eyes and jump, it's ok.

    • @sonnypruitt6639
      @sonnypruitt6639 Před 8 lety +1

      The only thing I can think of is that, the pilot wants to give the OK to exit, so that he is ready for the weight shift in the plane, to prevent a stall. Back in 1980,1,2,3, a Lockheed Loadstar stalled and crashed, taking 17 skydivers to their deaths, when the plane stalled on jump-run, as everybody moved to the rear of the aircraft.

    • @tonyrodriquez880
      @tonyrodriquez880 Před 8 lety

      +Saddle Sore that is a great explanation, thank you. I really didn't understand it.

    • @raymondhuffman6258
      @raymondhuffman6258 Před 7 lety +10

      Late reply but the pilot may know something you don't and hold off the exit. Since he is responsible for the exit it's his call. Remember the pilot has a radio and other equipment in the cockpit. There may be something going on, that you don't see.

    • @alexcampack
      @alexcampack Před 3 lety

      @@raymondhuffman6258 correct, but it was a long spot.

    • @MrReasonabubble
      @MrReasonabubble Před 3 lety +1

      Very late reply(!), but it's worth noting that different dropzones have different protocols when it comes to the lights.
      Where I normally jump, the pilot will turn on the red light when he is on jump run. Generally we take that as a signal to open the door. The red light then stays on until the pilot determines that it's ok for you to get out, at which point he turns off the red light and turns on the green one. Now, there is a slight complication in that some pilots (typically the less experienced ones) will put the green light on as soon as they get clearance to drop, in which case if you don't take the trouble to spot visually then you are in danger of getting out short. Other pilots put the green light on when the plane is over the spot. The jumpers should be _visually confirming the spot_ regardless.
      If the green light doesn't come on, then very occasionally it might be because the pilot has forgotten to activate it. In that case, you might need to alert the pilot and if the plane has got too deep then you might need to go around again. But you do not, EVER, get out unless the green light is on.
