  • A chassis with a 1907 chain drive forms the basis of the Brutus experimental vehicle, a drive that was used for a long time by fire departments in America. A 12-cylinder BMW aircraft engine was mounted onto this chassis, with a cylinder capacity of nearly 47 litres (from the 1st World War).

    I've stood besides this car while the engine was running. The real sound is like thunder, the earth is vibrating all around. You feel the engine in your feet! Beautiful!

    Den Live zu erleben is unbeschreiblich😻 Zur Info vom Motor: es handelt sich um ein BMW VI 60° V12 Zylinder BJ 1917/18. Dieser Motor wurde ursprünglich für Flugzeuge konstruiert und wurde für den Dornier Wal, Do-17, die Focke-Wulf A-29, die Heinkel He-11 und He-70 vervendet. Dauerleistung 500 Ps, Kurzleistung 750 Ps. Der Wagen selbst ist ein Feuerwehrfahrzeug BJ 1902. Diese Infos sind vom Technikmuseum Sinsheim selbst

    The rotating components of that engine might deliver more torque to roll the whole thing around its longitudinal axis, than that smal tires are able to transfer propulsion.

    I saw Brutus live in Friedrichshafen Classic trade show some years ago. The sound is beyond belief. It's a physical experience with all your senses. I'd love to have a hd sound recording of Brutus. This yt is nice but doesn't come even close.

    ich war brutus am freitag besuchen und ich muss sagen wenn er vor einem steht mit seinem ganze igenen geruch von alter technik wirkt er viel heftiger als auf video und das holzmodellauto aus eurem shop is einfach cool

    Ich hab dieses Biest schon ich echt auf dem Brazzel Tag starten sehen es war einfach unglaublich.
    I saw this beast start up in real life at the Brazzel Tag it was just Awesome.

    That´s not completely correct. The Heinkel-Bomber used a Daimler Benz engine Type 601 in the early version and the Jumo 211 from Junkers in the late version. However Brutus has a BMW engine Type VI. Only the first four prototypes of He 111 used the BMW engine, not the serial version.

    yes less restriction is better but u do need some back pressure known some people put way to big exaust on there drag cars then downsized there pipes a little and picked up alot

    because, producing 750 hp at 1600 rpm you can guess it has the torque of a train engine. bringing the whole power on the street with wider tires would rip it apart. It is more like an hommage to the old racers from the 1920s, more like a piece of art ;)

    @1978atcarroll It's adjusted to run very rich to prevent the engine from overheating (look at the ridiculously small radiator) and make it live longer. You can trust me, the Technik Museum that built it is in my town ;)

    They called this thing the Höllenmaschine- literally "hell's machine" because of its incredible power- so much so that if you weren't gentle with the throttle you could destroy the drivetrain- even then it destroyed itself after a while of careful driving and it was relegated to the museum exhibits.

    The build team was quite lucky to get a hold of one of those engines; not long after it was built the factory was raided by the Allies and most of the engines- and the tooling to build them- were destroyed.

    Don’t forget to wire the bake beans to the turbo. Ps put a small hole on the to of the call if not they are hard to clean up trust me.

    einfach nur eine geile Karre mit geilem Motor, aber eine Frage zum Würstchen. Läuft der Motor mit hochverbleitem Avgas? Wenn ja, würde ich das Würstchen nicht essen, gibt mit der Zeit einen schwarzen Saum am Zahnfleisch.
