I have a JD H here that I just sold to my buddy. I took the carb apart about 10 years ago and it didn't seem anywhere that complicated, unless I missed it. Glad you got it back together. successfully.

Hi Ross I can't believe you can remember where all those parts go , I would have to look back at the video where you took it apart.

Nice video Ross. That old carb is looking a lot better. Can't wait to hear it running again. I think you found the issues. Let's hope so.

Ross you can get a small soda blast kit from Harber Freight that will make carb castings just like new can be blown out with air compressor

I've got one of them chinese sonic cleaners and I used Purple Power or Simple Green diluted. Worked awesome on my lawnmower carb !!

Your mental acuity is better than mine for recall of parts assembly LOL. Intricate assemblies such as that carb could try the patience of anyone. Experience dictates a clean/organized surface to preclude loss of small parts that like to travel to locations not visible to the naked eye only to be found after procuring replacements.

It's hard to believe that carb is by the same company that made the simple TSX series.

I bet these were experimental designs, and they realized they were over complicated garbage. As they were carting them out to the dumpster, Deere stopped them and said “hey you’re not gonna throw those away are you?”

I actually have a stand that clamps to my workbench for these JD carbs, it works really well
It lets you have both hands free, great video 😊

If you had a junk drill motor you could take the chuck off of , that makes a good handel for drill bits.

It looks lots better now. Hopefully you won't have to worry about it for a while. Something very satisfying about rebuilding stuff like this. See you soon.

On those small bits, I've had luck taking an insulation sleeve I have pulled off of a wire, and slide it onto the bit so the chuck can grip it. Might work out for you, good luck!

Looks good. Is there any product out there for the issue "I'm sure we'll have to file the points"? Not electronic ignition conversion but something like dielectric grease that is really useful on wiring connectors/screw posts/battery posts.

I might be incorrect, but I was thinking the drill bits needed to be turned by hand??
