Polyglot here I learned Dutch (mother tongue) and French in elementary school, English, German and a bit of Spanish in high school and I am currently learning Spanish, High Valyrian (I am in fact a nerd) and Mandarin. Currently, I am studying English and Dutch in uni😊

@@khalilahd. I think it definitely helps to start learning at a young age. But submersing yourself in the language and culture helps a lot too. I personally like watching movies/series in the languages I'm learning (with subtitles) ☺

The vibe is immaculate! ❤❤❤Also, if you are still in the fantasy mood I highly recommend The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater. The series has four books. It was one of the few series that really grabbed my attention and had me in a chokehold (I'm also not a huge series girlie). The characters feel very real and flawed in their own way and there is just a slight romance subgenre.

I'm also an aspiring polyglot and grew up bilingual. I'm currently learning spanish and want to re-learn japanese next (I took japanese classes in high school for 2 years). I completely agree that the way they teach languages in school is inefficient. I've been able to retain more lately by immersing myself in music and shows!

i highly recommend Eva Evergreen - The Semi-Magical Witch!!! It's perfect if you liked Harry Potter AND Kikis Delivery Service! I believe its Middle Grade tho, but its so amazing and comforting and you just love the characters.

So happy to see the Strand in your video. Best bookstore on earth. They discourage filming because of the people in the store appearing in videos they didn't consent to. You have people in your videos who have no idea they're on CZcams. Also, it's invasive to be looking for a book and trying to avoid being in a stranger's video. Next time, just take photos (NO FLASH) and put them in a montage.
Actually they don’t need to give consent in the US it is legal to take pictures and videos of people without their consent also she was mainly filming books and like her shoes walking
I don't think she was filming random strangers on purpose though 😭
I don't blame the Strand for not allowing filming in their store without permission. It's a private business. They do have a right to control what happens in their store. With the way that people act in public sometimes, it's difficult to know who has ill intentions or who is being genuine. It's distracting and frustrating to other shoppers. If I wanted to go down an aisle and there was someone filming, I would be deterred or it would create unwanted traffic because people are waiting. You could see in the video someone wanted to look at the same stack of books but couldn't because there was a camera/phone set-up. Call ahead and just ask permission.

The Strand is just another stuffy and self-important tourist attraction. It is not illegal to film people and things "without permission." I go to the one million-book Brooklyn Public Library Central Branch next to Prospect Park. If wanting to buy something I just go to Barnes and Noble. "Indy" bookstores are overrated.
