- I went to the latest volcanic eruption in Iceland near Litli Hrútur (Fagradalsfjall) and I took a 4K timelapse of the whole path (Path E). Make sure you watch this video before you decide to embark on the 12 mile hike.
This is the same route @MaxFosh took to cook the world's hottest microwave meal.
You can watch the uninterrupted timelapse here in 4K once you have enjoyed this video. • Uninterrupted Timelaps...
Check out safetravel.is/ for details on how to stay safe in Iceland with an impending volcanic eruption.

Thank you for doing this so I don't have to.
My painful pleasure 😅
You captured my dad and I in this video, I'm in white and he's in orange at 3:17 and 3:30, along with the same clip at the very beginning. We actually watched your video when we were still in Iceland, as you posted it only a day or two after the day you filmed it. We were trying to figure out a way to get to the western side of the volcano, so we were watching all the videos people were making about visiting the volcano that we saw. You can imagine our surprise when we saw ourselves! Got a fun kick out of it, and this video just popped back up on my feed today and it made me smile to see us back there! We were a little disappointed about how far we were from the volcano that day, and with the conditions constantly changing and paths being closed we were hoping to make it back on the western trail but we would be content with what we had already seen if it didn't work out. I'm happy to report that we were able to go to the western side a few days later and got a spectacular view at night!
Haha no way! Thats awesome. I have sometimes wondered if people who are in my shot ever see my videos. I guess I have the answer now. I wen't to the western side a few days later too. Perhaps we met again?
Loved the volcano 🌋 hike vid…loved the big show from the comfort of my TV room even more.❤ Karl!
It looks better from the TV at home to be honest 😂
Thanks Karl! See you Sunday!
Have a great trip 😊
This looks stunning my friend, absolutely gorgeous work! Shots are spectacular!
Thank you! I was quite happy with my shots. Glad you appreciate them too 😁
Thanks, Karl. Ignore the down arrow - I love the banter of this channel!
Haha thank you good advice. 😁
We had a great hike up from Parking Lot 2 this past Saturday. About 11 miles round trip. Well worth it. Awesome videos of dirt devils as well as tourists being chased away from lava by safety people. Lots of people on electric bikes. Many people too late arriving to get back before the 6pm closing time.
Awesome. I saw that too in my last trip. Uploading video now. I went Sunday route A from P1.
😎👍
It looked like a looong route indeed. Can you imagine the first time it erupted, we walked all the way from the Blue Lagoon through the lava fields and very steep hills?! It was hell! 24 km in total. But it was soooo worth it! Thankfully they improved the paths quickly and the distances became shorter. This new path looks quite decent already, but it's a long distance for sure. A bit sad that you couldn't get closer. During the first eruption, we were probably within 100 meters from the crater. It was totally insane!
Wow, I wasn't one of the dare devils who walked from blue lagoon. It was winter as well if I remember correctly? Or cold at least?
@@TimeWarpIceland Yeah it was quite cold, but not freezing. My biggest toe nail got completely red and it took 6 months to recover, haha. But honestly, I had really bad shoes and the guards warned me about it at the parking lot. But I didn't have any better shoes.
Oh wow. Hard core 💪😅
@@TimeWarpIceland 🤣 Biking uphill seems next-level though!
Lol I walked the hills 😂 5 years ago I would have done this without raising my pulse .
That damn tech... always messing with you! 🤣 An informative video that should help lots of people know what they're up against.
Yea, me and tech are not friends 😅
Did you start from the P1 or P2? Will be there in couple of days.
I'm really leasing an updated video for route A hopefully tonight. That's P1, for this route its P4. If you are good hikers I recommend route A. You'll see tonight.
Thanks for the video. Your drone seems pretty smart - it didn't want to get too close, so found its way back to you. Go soak in a hot tub and drink some beer!
You better believe that's what I did when I got home. Exactly that and I'm not kidding. I even had the foresight to have the hot tub ready for when I got home. 😅
Forgot to ask if Frank was there in the hot tub as well.
@@Itinerarium354 haha he's always there blabbing on while I'm in the tub.
You cant get as close as 21. Will that change if the wind comes from the south?
I'm not sure. There is talk of opening new shorter routes. But I don't really see that happening soon.
When did you get there? On the 20th of July?
No it was on the 18th.
I guess I got lucky. I spent 3 days sleeping my my Jimny in Grindavik waiting for the trail to open. On my way to the airport to come home empty handed they finally opened the trail. Delayed my return flight and off to the trail! I'm used to rocky trails so that wasn't an issue. I also was bummed about how far they were keeping everyone. However, at around 1am that night the security and police just left. A few hundred of us were then able to get closer. I spent a total of 16 hours on the trail. It was one of the most epic adventures I've been on, and that's saying something. Without the volcano and the lava river, yes it was miserable. That wind and dust was awful! However, witnessing that powerful display by God, it made it all worth it. Next time, I think I'll rent an ebike with fat tires.
Awesome! Oh how I wish I had had a fat tired ebyke!
Did you hire a car or did you manage without?
@@TheGrumpyExplorer I rented a car
Karl 1, you need to get yourself an electric bike man. Time to upgrade!!
Oh man I wish I had had one on that trip!
Would a electric bike have helped any ???
Oh yea for sure. And bigger tires.
Go at night for better views.
This wasn't my first rodeo. I went at night to the first one. Definitely awesome. Unfortunately, now it doesn't get dark out till very late and they close the paths at 6pm. So I would need to go up there and stay for hours.
can't you really go any closer? Seen people like few houndred meters away from the volcano on insta...
You could early on and still can if you ignore the police and rescuers. I definitely don't recommend that.
@@TimeWarpIceland from 2km distance you won't get a nice shot with a medium class smartphone haha
Couldn't even get one with Mavic air 3 or a 105mm lens 😭 I'll try again.
And THAT'S WHY you SHOULD NOT buy DJI - every government on the planet can control it,
legally or not,
justified or not.
They cut of your filming more than often, than they have the right to do so.
Please stop with the cracking on Americans 😔
I don't ever hear any of us cracking on you and your system. You don't get why we use it and we don't get why you use yours..
But no sense in being rude and cracking on us for it. I gave a thumbs up until you said that....
Well actually, this cracking goes both ways. It is about as non offensive a jab as they get and about as old as the systems them selves. I try to include both units as much as I can. Sometimes it becomes repetitive to a point of it being something that is OK to point out in a humorous way to break the repetitiveness. And I absolutely mean no disrespect by it.
But I do appreciate you leaving a comment explainimg why you gave thumbs down. I get one or two every video and I never know why. Hard to improve in the future when the only feedback you get is a thumb down.
