- I decided to do some upgrades on the 04 GTO. It got new AFR Enforcer heads and a Bullet cam at 218/226. Lift ended up being, .588 on both sides with a 114 LSA. The car already had a FAST 102, 92mm Nick Williams throttle body, JBA shorty headers, custom made high flow catted mids with a Magnaflow catback and an SLP underdrive crank pulley. Power is very smooth an linear and pulls nicely all the way to redline and beyond. The start/idle video doesn't really capture the slight chop there is in the idle. I'm really happy with the upgrade. Dynoed right at 400hp/400tq.
Man I wish I had a GTO
lol same especially the 5.7
Gotta get that 06 rear end man
So it can look like every other GTO? I like it as it is.
@@richnat it looks better and sounds better and there are things you can do to change it up a little as well.
M6 FTW!
Also magnaflows are super quiet
And I prefer it that way.
@@richnat yeah that’s okay I suppose most GTO’s are LTH to pipe all the way out. Sounds good that way, very loud tho.
I think you have a good 75 more hp in the tune and if you get long tubes. Was it a mustang dyno? I had the same car, similar setup but with Kook long tubes. 475 whp on a good tune, pump gas.
That was one happy dyno. :D I had these same shorties on the 06 and when I upgraded to long tubes I gained a whopping 9hp.... And I changed to 1.8 ratio roller rockers at the same time so not even all of those 9hp were due to the headers.
@richnat 450 + whp I fairly typical for heads cam intake full exhaust ls1. Tried and true build formula. Ppl have reported similar numbers on forums quite a bit. I'm surprised you even got 3hp going from shorties to long tubes. LOL. Ater long tubes really need 3" cat back exhaust high flow cats a good y pipe and most important a re-tune with timing, AFR and air flow models dialed in to get maybe 15 to whp. More if you also have heads cam and an intake.
😎👍🏻
Put some long tubes on that bad boy
Why? When I had these JBA shorties on the 06 and switched to Kooks long tubes, and I changed to 1.8 rockers at the same time, I gained a whopping 9hp so not even all of those 9hp were due to the headers. Shorties are easier to install and maintain. The trick to getting the most out of shorties is to have high flowing mids, which I do.
When I did the heads on this car recently, I simply pulled the headers off to get them out of the way. Took about 15 minutes. Try that with long tubes.
@@richnat well yea that’s true but you can say that about every mod, from the 102 to the 92. Wasn’t the car rated at 350 crank from factory ? It’s pushing 450ish now? They all tie together. I just figured it would sound better and let everything breathe with all those other pieces of air.
Of course but how often are you really changing the headers? It can take 15 mins as well, you disconnect from mid pipes and let them hang the same way…
@@markitoss On the 06 when I changed from shorties to long tubes the sound barely changed at all. Shorties get slandered, they provide much better performance when paired with good mids than most people give them credit for providing.
Definitely needs long tubes tho, sounds like a baby without long tubes man. You may not have gained that much HP but the sound alone is worth it.
@@FalseHoodx As I've said already, when I changed from shorties to long tubes on the 06 the sound didn't really change. I have videos on here that show both the before and after. I think it sound just great as it is.
