Food webs are a key aspect of ecosystems. However, for entirely microscopic ecosystems, especially those without animals, most biomass and nutrients are passed through particulate and dissolved inorganic carbon pools. In this video, I talk about microbial food webs and the changes when the first grazers evolved.
