    I was surprised the series ended so early I was expecting an 7 game series not 5 but regardless good job Avs

    The game one loss saved them too. I feel like that loss was the Avs figuring out the Jets and Georgie waking up.

    Manitoban here and I’ll tell you right now that the Avs are scary danger. They just plain old whooped us. Helly is the best goalie alive and they blasted him without mercy. I’m picking Colorado for the cup. Nasty mofos

      I will say, Jets fans were very respectable before and during this series. Gained a lot of respect for your fan base and wishing you guys the best in the future

      @Co_avsnation I definitely respect this Jets fans humble comment, but I have to ask if you were paying attention to the fans?
      Chanting pull your goalie after theirs also gave up 6 goals lol (but hey, thanks for that, it lit a fire under the Avs ass), booing our players every time someone would get injured, chanting when we got injured, booing their own player, and I saw several signs during the broadcast asking where our captain is, which to me is just goofy and kinda disrespectful considering Landy is dealing with a potentially career ending injury, not to mention all the deluded trash talk and ref blaming on every hockey page. They gained no respect from me during that series.
      Compare that to how Avs fans reacted when Namestnikov got a puck to the face. They cheered and clapped when he got up (loudly I must add), most were standing and showed great concern. Glad the Avs dismantled them and hopefully humbled some of them. On to the next, go Avs!

      Imagine playing hockey since you were five. Make into the NHL. Leading the league in playoff scoring and having to suffer with a completely embarrassing nickname like “the Choo Choo train.” Great nickname….for a five year old. Let’s start a campaign to give him a real
      Macho hockey name….”The “Nicanator” something. “Hasta La Vista Winnipeg.”

    If Georgie shows up for every game, the AVs offense is the best in the NHL! Championship season.

    After watching that 7-0 loss during the end of the season. I was truly convinced that the Avs had no chance of beating the Jets in the playoffs. Seriously one of the the most unpredictable turnarounds I've ever seen.

    I have this weird reverse superstition... I was actually glad when we lost to Dallas in that last game because I feel like if you completely win the season series, you're going to end up losing the playoff series. So oddly I wasn't too concerned... and I was correct. Now... my lack of concern was based on my own superstitions and has nothing to do with reality, but luckily in this case, I was right!

    I think the game 1 loss had a massive role in this as well, the fact that it was a playoff game and not regular season probably gave them a major slap in the face. There was some press where the guys were talking about how much they trust and respect Georgiev after that game 1 loss, and Bednar was vocally unhappy with his performance. You could see him mentally break after the first few goals and most of his previous coaches said this has always been his biggest shortcoming. I think something happened in the team that improved his confidence, because it wasn't only on the defense for that loss. Something clicked and the boys got it together in impressive fashion. I also think the Jets fans taunting Georgiev for two games was some motivation for him as well. The "pull the goalie" chants for the last half of game 1 and the "Georgiev" chants at the start of game 2.

  • @markloroff
    @markloroff Před měsícem +5

    Crazy that the Jets went down in 5 i thought Winnipeg had the edge in the series the way they ended the season vs Colorado but the playoffs are a different beast and Colorado has the experience in that regard. Maybe they will finally win a series on home ice this year lol.

    • @shabba213
      @shabba213 Před měsícem +3

      Winnipeg can't keep up with the pace colorado can produce. They got lucky game 1 and still let in 6 goals. That was a precursor to the avalanche of goals to come.

    I was honestly pissed at the Avalanche "fans" reacting to this loss and a couple of others at the end of the regular season. I kept hearing about how they were backing into the playoffs and were going to get swept in the first round. Have any of you paid attention to how they have played all year? Yeah, they are going to lose a game or two, gasp, maybe even two in a row. They're still going to beat any team in the league in a seven game series. Bandwagon fans are the only thing I detest right now.

    • @JohnnyFalco
      @JohnnyFalco Před měsícem +2

      I remember in 2022 when they had their little loing streak at the end of the season, people lost their minds - even though they were resting talent for the playoffs. The bandwagonners are obnoxious as F. Actual fans that watch the sport know how dangerous this team is

  • @arkwill14
    @arkwill14 Před měsícem +2

    The loss probably also gave the Jets some overconfidence that didn't help them in the end. Then, after the game 1 loss, they really thought this was going to be a cake walk. There is something about having your expectations dashed like that which can cripple a team's confidence.

  • @markmahoney14
    @markmahoney14 Před měsícem +1

    Avs really changed things up? Or did Winnipegs defence just collapse? Rendering Helly on an island by himself like the Avs did to Georgie in game 1? What was really impressive was how the Avs defensive structure changed around Georgiev. Avs forchecking has always been relentless. Defensive Dallas or Vegas could really throw a wrench in the Avs plans. If the Avs can keep their defenceman grinding the corners every night. If the Avs get EVERYBODY working as hard as they did for the next 12-20 games then yes they will win the cup. 20 games is such a long road. Go Avs!

  • @dannyjackson5356
    @dannyjackson5356 Před měsícem +2

    I saw this coming a mile away and especially after game 1. Bowness isnt the greatest coach in the post season and coincidently at some point every team he has ever gone to the post season with eventually has an offense that dries tf up. Imagine that. At that point you are depending on your goalie to steal some games, too bad Hellybuck, vezina or not, sucks when it matters most. Im thoroughly shocked people counted the avs out of this one.

    If Juice would have been available after game 1....Georgie would have been DONE in Colorado. I don't know how that would have gone, but there is no way he would have started game 2 if Juice had been healthy. That said....Georgie surprised me (and a lot of people) by settling down. I'm still not super confident in him. The rest of the team though....yeah....they've got it going.
