I see this as Jarmans autobiographical walk thru his own forest; and perhaps his idea of heaven was a handsome saxophone player.
Dogging. In other words, sex is all that matters, everything else is just a pleasant reminder of sex. Poet Laureate Sir John Betjeman was asked just prior to his death "Do you have any regrets?" To which he replied "Yes, not enough sex". But then, that's married life for you.
