She has such a solid reassured confidence about herself. Like when she says things praising herself her face is stone cold like this is facts and theres nothing else to be said. Shes the truth
Knowing the shit she went through as an upcoming artist in the late 70's. That's the pain you see. NONE of these chicks can't tell her shit. She opened the doors for Patra, Lady Saw and others.
sorry to be so off topic but does someone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb lost my account password. I love any assistance you can offer me
nothin but the upmost respect for sister nancy, a true legend. i'm so glad she's finally making money off of her music, she deserves every single dime.
Absolute legend. Born in the 80s grew up in the 90s. My childhood they don’t make dancehall like the good old days anymore. As a British Bengali 🇯🇲 ❤️ this is timeless music listening with my 8 year old.
One night mid 2000's I went to a pub venue in Brixton and to my unexpected unbelievable delight Sister Nancy was performing. Half time she came and sat at the table with us. This woman is a legend so much love and respect
First time I hear that tune was in Trinidad 🇹🇹. First ting in the morning, sun just comin up. The song play loud loud from a fete in somebody yard! I fall in love wit it one time! Big up to the queen Sista Nancy! 🙌🏾✊🏾🔥🔥
Long live the BRIGADIER GENERAL INI LOVES THE GENERAL THROUGHOUT ALL AGES 🇯🇲🇲🇱 MUMA NANCY WE KNOW YOU A D BESTMI LOVE YOU FROM MI EYE AT MI KNEES EVEN THOUGH I NEVER MEET YOU IN PERSON UR SO BEAUTIFUL MI LOVE YOU CAAAN DONE 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🔥🔥🖤🖤✍🏾😍😍 Long live muma NANCY 💋
Talent is a great ingredient to success , but Good character takes you even further in life. My wife & I ( we are regulars on the Jam Rock Cruise & perhaps went to no more than 3 Meet & Greet ) had the pleasure to meet her . She was so sweet , simple & warm . This interview gave me more insight about her life. She’s a pioneer.
I was there live In San Francisco Ca she performed Bam Bam with a joint or rolled out cigarette the whole time The best concert ever!!!! Big up Sister Nancy
5:00 that blew me away. She didn't know how massive of a hit Bam Bam was until she came stateside. She never heard it play on the radio in Jamaica. 14yrs after she dropped it too (came stateside '96, Bam Bam off One Two dropped in '82)
This was a good interview and her song takes me back to my college radio days at KSYM in San Antonio Tx. playing her on my reggae show called Reggae Vibes back in 1987. And would always play Bam Bam on a reggae set at the club. I actually first played her song when I was stationed over in the UK doing DJ sets at various military installations. And of course it's one of the great dancehall reggae classics
So much respect for Sister Nancy!! I actually love your voice now and there are certain parts of songs that you do now live and wow it’s always a burst of energy that comes out of your~ hope to see you perform again … soon come Sistren in San Diego, CA
Love and respect the foundation. The foundation of reggae, dancehall, hip hop, rap etc etc etc, respect to the elders, WE BIRTHED THESE DUDES. BIG up papa San, ninja man, yellow man, Shabba ranks, brigadier jerry and all the others In Jamaica that set the trend 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲.
Danny Woober wK mK Actually, Jamaican DJs were the ones that came up to the South Bronx and taught the Americans about the sound system, the sound clash, and the method of scratching old records to make rhythms to rap on. The Jamaican use of the "riddim" is why rap music has tracks to rap on now.
pretty sure Large Professor was the first to sample it in hip-hop tho... (1990/91) Pete Rock Heavy D Madlib Dj Premier Lauryn Hill Kanye used it afterwards
Not me just putting a face to this song on 2/15/2022 at 11:49 p.m. 🤨 I first heard this song on the movie Belly. Then heard it again on the Netflix series “Maid” on Season 1 episode 3. My daughter’s watching it now but I’ve already seen it. So when I heard it playing I was like let me put this on my playlist before I forget again. Never knew which artist sang this. 🤦🏽♀️ my bass is going to be like BAM BAM 💥 tomorrow blasting this 🔈 🔊 🗣💪🏽👏🏽🥰
Man sister Nancy is a gracious lady to actually just kool n calm n just wanted the 50/50 some ppl could of been so angry n just react but she took the humane route !!!💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯big up Ms Nancy everytime
You can’t get more real than this Gem. What she say about dem children and parenting is a trumpet call. Stand erect and LISTEN TO DEM WORDS! We have to build em young-ens by providing a solid foundation.❤
She crawled so these rappers today could walk...and it’s pathetic that some of them have stolen this song and never even contacted her 🤦🏾♀️😕 Kanye west, jay z and others have stolen her song and make terrible remakes of it but she is so grateful and appreciative to them for even noticing her! God is looking out for this woman and money isn’t everything 👸🏾👸🏾👸🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
True when she said Dancehall artist are saying whatever just to be heard or to be 'different'. They thinking more about showbiz than music. They care more about getting reaction from various publicity stunts. rather than getting a reaction out of the music. Its let about the music nowadays and more about the image. its sad really. Really got to be grateful of the few artists that manage to create good/great quality of music and survive in this era.
Love Sister Nancy. I used to watch her DJ on Stereophonic the Bionic. I'm disappointed she did not mentioned one of the most talented DJ, General Echo. I saw General Echo give her the mic at a dance at Blue Fox Club in Rockfort, Eastern Kingston. Sister Nancy worked on Stereophonic sound with General Echo for some years. General Echo was one of the greatest and deserves his respect. Big Youth was one of the first DJ or maybe the first to record on the Stalag riddim. The songs were "All Nation Bow" and "Jim Screechie," released about 1974, '75.
Great interview , Bam Bam is classic record.SMH at these producers from back in the day robbing artistes of their royalties especially the Dancehall/Reggae artistes . Where is your humanity keeping a 100% for yourself for over 2 decades 😤 mi would affi chop up smaddy
Winston Riley is considered one of the GREATEST producers in Jamaican music. The same guy who produced Tenor Saw 'Ring The Alarm'. But dude was a funny business man.
Or when she says her husband lives in Jamaica and she only goes there 3-4 times per year. What a bam bam.
Bro if you grew up in a Caribbean house hold we are confident we are raised that we are not BLACK American
sorry to be so off topic but does someone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account..?
I was dumb lost my account password. I love any assistance you can offer me

Wow! She never heard 'Bam Bam' played in Jamaica .. Interesting...
Tosinger T she didn't hear it while she was living there but it got "big" after she migrated
I'm not saying she is lying but as a kid in the 80's i heard that song many times
She was not talking about Bam Bam... other tracks.
Funny because I remember as a child in Jamaica in the late 80s its was playing everywhere so I struggled to understand how she didn't hear it
@@kevinkelly888 I just read your comment and you said the same thing I said. Yes I dont get how she didn't hear it
