I can confirm as an artist myself, that the narration that Arin does when drawing vageta (I 100% did not spell that right) Is an accurate representation of what goes on in our minds when drawing a character

POWER HOUR: ADD-A-FEATURE
Arin and Dan create abstract horrors as they take turns drawing one feature of a character at a time, such as one eye, one hand, the chest, the mouth, etc.
Then, when the character really feels like it has a life of its own, you name it
in middle school my art class did something similar to this.. you were given a big paper, and you had to draw for 45 seconds nonstop. Every 45 seconds, you passed your paper over to the next person. After about 5-10 minutes you see what monstrosity started from your creation ( My group's ended up being a penguin marrying a flamingo with a very elaborate audience.. I thiiiink the flamingo had intended to be a dragon at the start but the next person saw it wrong XD )
Did something like this with my high school orchestra except it was a story where every person got to write a sentence.
arent you supposed to get a piece of paper fold it 4 times and then draw one part of the body fold it so the person cant see what you did and give it to the other person then they draw the other part. then you reveal it afterwards

I’m currently a fine arts Major in college, and we do blind contour still life practice before every study we do. Naturally, every time I’m looking at like a jar or something and doing a blind contour of it, I think of this video and try not to laugh in the completely silent studio.

I endlessly forget how good Arin is at art. I'm studying animation and this is a great exercise for wakening the observational part of your brain, to get you to draw what you see instead of what you imagine, and Arin's first piece is such a great example of the exercise done really really well.
Lots of really organic and honestly observed elements. The chin was a little iconographic but the fact that he even talked about it showed he was conjuring the image from his mind's eye instead of his actual eye (a trap he would have easily avoided if he wasn't also being filmed and didn't have to make this entertaining). I know Arin has no classical artistic training which only makes this miles more impressive. I know this is a 10MPH and just for shits and giggles but if I had to rate it he would get a solid 9/10 from me on that exercise, absolutely nailed it homie.
Draw what you see, not what you know! Classic bit of art class wisdom.

@@rockybeegaming Oh yea, mine were never pretty. I think I had one decent looking one, and that was because my partner that day happened to be someone with a squarish shaped head/profile and clean features. Other than that, they always looked like a mess.
Gotta say dan's blind drawings actually vaguely look like a person who vaguely looks like arin after getting hit by a train. Which is a little better than arin's chaos 😂. I dont think I would have done half as well though
