Macrame placemat | Macrame table mat | Macrame coaster

This macrame tutorial shows you how to make a leaves pattern macrame placemat. I use 3 mm single strand twisted cord, you can use also 3 strand twisted cord. Total consumption about 59,2 m (195 ft). If you use a 4-5mm cord, then cut the ropes longer than mantioned in the video.

This is personal preference in most cases. I like the 3 ply more, it gives the product a more embossed look, the knots look tighter, the product is voluminous, the pattern is more rigid. Single ply cord gives the product softness, friability, the product is easy to roll. The fringe is much easier to make with a single ply cord, however, it will curl in the direction of the original twist. It is more difficult to make a fringe from a 3 ply cord (comb it, you can iron it to straighten threads), but it hardly twists back after such processing.
* in my experience with cords. Since cord manufacturers are different, cord properties may vary.
