    That bat speed is honestly insane. He can do a half swing, pull back and do another full swing in the amount of time it takes the ball to get from the pitcher to the plate.

    Gary is one of my favorite players ever. I used to imitate this stance, and hit the s*** out the ball.
    He was on to something.
    He got the most out of every swing... Violent and efficient.

      definitely was onto something, that movement before the bat provides extra power and momentum. it's probably a less accurate swing (more strikeouts) but when you make contact the ball flies

    Gary Sheffield is onee of my all time favorite baseball players and playing baseball as a kid in the 1990s, I tried to imitate his batting stance such good times playing baseball 🌮 🧢 ⚾️

      For some reason most of the best looking swings were from left handed hitters (Griffey, Bonds, Jackson, Williams, Strawberry, Musial, Thome) but Sheffield was definitely one of the best from a righty.

    I love around 2000 or 2001 when he opened his stance up I was probably 11 when I found him in 99 and I would record his games on my VHS and watch his hand positioning and everything in slow motion. Everyone always tries to imitate him but I would literally put money up against anyone that says I can do it better than them. Now as an adult that's kind of dorky as a kid it's just a kid being a kid with a favorite player haha but I've never seen someone really do a good job imitating him it's always exaggerated. I can do that shit perfectly I just can't hit like he can haha I would have loved to see that cast around when he played to just see how fast that that was going and how hard those balls were coming off the bat

    I got to watch some of the greatest swings ever growing up. Will Clark(hated him) but beautiful swing, Mark Grace, Daryl Strawberry, Don Mattingly, and the most violent that scared pitchers other than Nolan Ryan, Gary Sheffeild and the purest swing ever Ken Griffey Jr.
