  • This auger for digging plant holes is by far the best tool to mix a bucket of concrete or mortar. Its effortless, super quick and produces perfect result every time with no balast or cement left unmixed. Due to the way the auger works (like a corkscrew) it pulls up the mix from the bottom of the bucket to the top and rotates it as it goes resulting in a thoroughly well mixed concrete. I wish I had discovered this ealier as I would either have used a trowl or spade which was hard work, slow and you would always find chunks of unmixed ballast or cement when you poured it out.
    Here is a link to the Auger I used in this video: cwww.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...
    If the link doesn't work, then the brand was Workpro and the size of the auger was 8cm x 30cm.

    Yeah, was a bit sloppy as I was rushing and guesstimated the water. All good though as it wasn’t needed for anything structural. Cured fine 👍🏻

    The best tip for this exact situation, use a corded drill, for multiple batches. Don’t burn out your batteries or power tools…. Also… try not to use Ryobi

    Use 1/2 drill or bigger. You will burn out your drill.

    Better using a bigger builders tub and a 1500 watt rotary hammer drill esp when making 4-2-1 concrete

    I see the drill comments, I've had a ryobi combi drill since 2016 and used it to turn over small plant engines, lawn mowers, mix concrete/slop for various projects and drill through pretty thick metals smoked it twice and put all the battery's into protect countless times. When ryobi made the combi drill and impact driver combo set in 2016 it had its game face on!

    For 5 concrete posts, Is it cheaper to buy balllast and cement separately and then mix them up, compared to buying bags of Postcrete?

    • @thesweatyfox
      @thesweatyfox  Před měsícem +1

      Ballast is a mix of sharp sand and gravel. It helps bind everything together to make the concrete stronger.

    What’s 1 part?

    • @thesweatyfox
      @thesweatyfox  Před 3 měsíci

      It’s the mix ratio quantity. 1 part is the equivalent to 20% of the total mixture volume. So the remaining 4 parts are 80%.
