I'm sure many people in his life - family, friends, fiancé, judges, attorneys, etc. - tried to get him to deal with his anger issues. Instead of going home with his fiancé and eating his pizza, he had to take a situation to a violent level. Maybe he's happy that now he will spend the rest of his life in a place where his anger issues will be entertained daily should he like them to be.

Absolutely amazing how with all that criminal record & all the bad things he had done, he was out a free man when he killed someone. So sad that someone has to loose their life - for someone to be kept locked up.

@The Grateful Head yep that’s a lethal fall per the textbook, but my instructor, a Fire Chief and paramedic, made it a point to let us all know that people die from falling from their height all the time… it’s not necessarily the length of the fall, but how and where you land. A man slipping in his kitchen and cracking his skull on the linoleum floor will not fair better than a guy who falls 15 feet into a pile of mattresses.

I grew up watching many, many movies that showed someone whack someone in the head with a hard object to knock them out instead of killing them. It's a lot easier to kill someone that most think.

This is why having petty fights in the open is something to avoid. You never know you might go over board or don’t know how frail someone is and could kill them and your life is screwed for that.

I grew up watching many, many movies showing an actor (like John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Sean Connery, etc) knock a person in the head with a hard object to knock them out instead of killing them. It was always portrayed as an heroic and humane action. It's much easier to kill someone than most people realize.
For sure. When I was a kid is saw someone just shove someone. The guy stumbled back one step, tripped over the curb and fell and hit his head. Died a few days later.

I came close to getting in a fight at a supermarket. I pulled in to this spot, and this huge, tough guy in this big truck motions to me if I was leaving (he wanted my space). I motioned back that I wasn't, and he ended up parking 3 cars away from me and the store, and tried to get me to fight him. He thought I was being a jerk, but I was really just getting ready to exit the car b/c I needed to find my crutches (just had surgery). The guy reached in to my car and tried to pull me through the window, but his son who was about nine kept tugging him away from me. Thank God, if it weren't for his son who knows what would happen.

Dude DIDNT die from the punch, he got knocked out by the punch, which made him fall to the ground and smash his head much quicker than a conscious person would.... it WAS accidental murder, but you lose that defense when, without provocation, you decked a random guy and he died as a result. There's no oopsie in a random attack.

For those wondering if it was the punch or the fall that killed the guy, it was the punch. Gutierrez hit the guy so hard it crushed in his forehead which caused the entire top of his skull to fracture, causing instant death. The guy was dead before he hit the ground.
