My first impression of TOP other than he is unbelievably handsome was that he seemed to be "rough, bad boy, and playa," but after I saw him on shows I found out that he was the opposite! He's very funny, weird, and outgoing! Although it's hard to pick a bias in Bigbang since I love them all and I am a "bias ho" when it comes to Bigbang, TOP is definitely unique. 😘 Ps: I was going to write how TOP is technically my bias right now, but then I started to think about how much I love the other members and wasn't able to since I just love them all too much! ...Just a quick jump-in ^_^", the randomness is really more like "senselessness" than random, though I guess random can be senseless in its own way. The art movement really gained momentum postwar because it was also, at least in part, a form of protest in that it literally rejects the logic, reason, and aesthetics of society at the time.

The MV makes a lot more sense when you know his inspirations came from Salvador Dali and cult movies such as 2001: a space odyssey. TOP is really into art and it works it's way into a lot of his lyrics and his inspiration. He really likes art, wine and collecting chairs...lots and lots of chairs!

He references the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (which was known for it's backdrop style, with highly sharp and slanted edges and high contrast. It was said to be Tim Burton's inspiration for his style). He recreates the filming style of the Blair Witch Project with it's green nightvision and shakey footage which kicked off the whole found footage horror movie genre. He shows early forms of film devices such as the zoetrope and kinetoscope which are seen with all the running sketetons. He also recreates The Evolition of Man with the himself being the final example of man leading the line. The scene where he sits with a deer at his side is actually mirroring the painting behind which is "A deer" by Kim Whanki, who is a semi-abstract modern to post modern artist. In conclusion this video is TOP being a total art nerd and I love it.

I remember watching commercials and tv shows that featured the film's titular soundtrack back in the 90s and today you rarely hear those opening notes anywhere. Stanley Kuberick's work was also a lot more popular back then compared to nowadays. Between adults in their early 20s and adults in their late 20s or 30s, a lot more adults in their late 20s and 30s would be familiar with Space Odyssey, and a lot more adults in their late 20s and 30s have actually seen the film compared to youtubers under 20. When I started getting into Kpop 2015, BigBang were the first to catch my attention. Out of all the members that I love soooo much, Mr. T.O.P. Was the first I love and still love till this day!!!! He is the best in my eyes!!! I understand GD is such an amazing soul especially when it comes to music!!! They all work sooo hard and I will forever be a V.I.P! 💕👑
Well, let me start by saying TOP was a film studies student and the MV is filled w movie references (can't remember what the giant baby head is from, but there are scenes from The Good, the Bad and the Weird, a Korean movie that I really enjoyed. A range of other cult classic films, too). It's also full of art references, including the title: Salvador Dali was the 'father' of dadaism, which was a movement that specifically challenged the accepted aesthetics of art (the lyrics are also about this). The mustache he sports at the end is in the style of Dali. Also, he is related to the artist operating the Whanki Foundation, credited at about 1:40. He also mentions the artist Basquiat in the lyrics. (These are only a few examples.) TOP, himself, is an actor. He has been in maybe 1/2 a dozen films. 71: Into the Fire (about student soldiers in the Korean War) made me blubber for half the film; it was incredible. Also, The Commitment and Tazza: The Hidden Card. He plays an assassin in Iris: the Movie. Cold, man. Personally, I'd like to see him play a vampire. I will also say, the power of TOP's eyes should not be underestimated. When he performed this in concert, it absolutely brought the house down. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it.

Hey BrisxLife! The video shows the "evolution of music" through the exploration, creativity, and freedom. There's a sequence where they're walking in chains, and you can see they are chained down in the stances of the "evolution of man" sequence, becoming progressively into an artist with only chains to his feet which im thinking represent his past and not forgetting where it all started. In the beginning, TOP is the primate and they find the skeleton of the explorer (the TOP with the mustache and weird ugly crybaby), and the giant microphone is with it. Like when cavemen 'discovered fire', I think that's what this sequence was meant for in the evolution of music. It sparked the beginning of everything, so kind of a gift from god (is TOP rap god lmao?!?!?!) But it seems to me that primate TOP is the weird ugly crybaby. This is because when it shows them walking, the big ugly crybaby has primate feet. Explorer TOP is dragging this baby around, being different and exploring new things, while the baby tries to complain and stop him with that shit face of his. What i'm thinking is that maybe because the baby didn't accept the evolution of the music, he did not evolve and simply grew into the same old primate as the rest of them, and forgot about his old acquaintance Explorer TOP as time went on, but when he found the microphone, it all came back to him (the dilating pupils shot) and he went on to lead the rest of the primates into a musical r[evolution]. Right! A lot of the Big Bang's solo projects have this amazing imagery that can be passed off as psychotic eclectic blurs. But when you pay attention to the details and the stories they tell through that imagery, the message is always amazing! :)
My supreme bias. T.O.P. is and forever will be my utt bias. He's a good guy, cool, weird, caring, lovely guy. He raps like a machine gun, he composes and produce a lot of stuff, he works really hard, he can act, he can model and he is handsome af. His visuals are no joke. 😍 I feel so bad he has gone through so much this past months. But i fell like he's getting better. He was seen smiling and having fun at Taeyang's wedding and it made me so so so relieved. I hope when Big Bang finishes their mandatory military service, he can comeback with them and be as sucssesful as they are. He deserves it. And Big Bang deserves it too.

Jennifer Holloway I know the film's old but it was a lot more prevalent in everyday pop culture in the 90s and early 2000s than later. I remember watching commercials and tv shows that featured the film's titular soundtrack back in the 90s and today you rarely hear those opening notes anywhere. Stanley Kuberick's work was also a lot more popular back then compared to nowadays. Between adults in their early 20s and adults in their late 20s or 30s, a lot more adults in their late 20s and 30s would be familiar with Space Odyssey, and a lot more adults in their late 20s and 30s have actually seen the film compared to youtubers under 20. That's what I was saying.

LOL, you're not alone in being drawn to him, and definitely not alone in your occasional inability to explain why. XD Tbh, I wasn't even expecting it. I totally expected myself to bias Daesung just from the way my sister explained the members to me, but something about TOP's personality, his passion, and love for the arts really leaks out in everything he does? And the "weirdness" totally sucked me straight in. I love his unique outlook on life, but also him being so openly human on his struggles (and being a total dork). He's constantly laughed at by the others because despite being the oldest, he's the most sensitive member, and... maybe this ruins your image of him - but he's always the one who cries the most easily - at least, when it comes to his family and his members. He cried on stage when everyone brought out a birthday cake for him during their last GIANT world tour in 2015, and you can always expect mama!Taeyang to be the one wiping his tears and comforting him. When I started getting into Kpop 2015, BigBang were the first to catch my attention. Out of all the members that I love soooo much, Mr. T.O.P. Was the first I love and still love till this day!!!! Well, let me start by saying TOP was a film studies student and the MV is filled w movie references (can't remember what the giant baby head is from, but there are scenes from The Good, the Bad and the Weird, a Korean movie that I really enjoyed. A range of other cult classic films, too).
It's also full of art references, including the title: Salvador Dali was the 'father' of dadaism, which was a movement that specifically challenged the accepted aesthetics of art (the lyrics are also about this). The mustache he sports at the end is in the style of Dali. Also, he is related to the artist operating the Whanki Foundation, credited at about 1:40. He also mentions the artist Basquiat in the lyrics. (These are only a few examples.)
TOP, himself, is an actor. He has been in maybe 1/2 a dozen films. 71: Into the Fire (about student soldiers in the Korean War) made me blubber for half the film; it was incredible. Also, The Commitment and Tazza: The Hidden Card. He plays an assassin in Iris: the Movie. Cold, man. Personally, I'd like to see him play a vampire.
I will also say, the power of TOP's eyes should not be underestimated. When he performed this in concert, it absolutely brought the house down. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it.

Hey BrisxLife! The video shows the "evolution of music" through the exploration, creativity, and freedom. There's a sequence where they're walking in chains, and you can see they are chained down in the stances of the "evolution of man" sequence, becoming progressively into an artist with only chains to his feet which im thinking represent his past and not forgetting where it all started.
In the beginning, TOP is the primate and they find the skeleton of the explorer (the TOP with the mustache and weird ugly crybaby), and the giant microphone is with it. Like when cavemen 'discovered fire', I think that's what this sequence was meant for in the evolution of music. It sparked the beginning of everything, so kind of a gift from god (is TOP rap god lmao?!?!?!)
But it seems to me that primate TOP is the weird ugly crybaby. This is because when it shows them walking, the big ugly crybaby has primate feet. Explorer TOP is dragging this baby around, being different and exploring new things, while the baby tries to complain and stop him with that shit face of his.
What i'm thinking is that maybe because the baby didn't accept the evolution of the music, he did not evolve and simply grew into the same old primate as the rest of them, and forgot about his old acquaintance Explorer TOP as time went on, but when he found the microphone, it all came back to him (the dilating pupils shot) and he went on to lead the rest of the primates into a musical r[evolution]. Circle of life kinda video lol! XD
