    Thank you so much for breaking that down. I never understood what those were. I called them capacitors coming up but did not understand why they were so important. The cross over I was just lost on how to install one. Now I understand. Thanks again.

    Great video easy break down on what each component does. I have a question, does the speakers within the crossovers effect the impedance?

    I recently bought component speakers for 4 doors and was wondering how do they wire up (I have individual crossovers for mid range and tweeters). By the schematic you showed us I started to understand that IN cables goes on the audio cable from audio source. I can solder Mid and TW IN ends in parallel, then connect those accordingly to the audio + and - wires.
    Even though this is a 2 year old vid, It did click me some idea on how to wire things up

    2 way crossover is not for mids it will have full range for the woofer and limited range for the tweeter, and that will work fine without a capacitor on the tweeter, with that crossover you have there the only place you would need a capacitor/bassblocker is for the mids?

      Sometimes, depends on the car's oem audio wiring system. For example on the 02 Outback base model the audio wiring was done by Panasonic, which is not that great. Powered it with A Rockford P1000x5 and Clarion 3 way electronic crossover. No matter how expensive and quality speakers were installed in the door panels, the low frequency of the bass was too much and distorted at higher volume, which damaged the tweeters on the 2 way woofers installed in the doors. I had to get new speakers and install the 6.5 speaker bass blockers to protect the newer 2 way speakers from blowing. It sounded much better blocking the rough bass that was coming to the woofers. I will be installing the 2 way passive crossovers next, to completely try to fix the door speakers sound quality.

      So what can I use for a mid and a tweeter

    • @xvdmrecords
      @xvdmrecords Před 2 měsíci

      @@jamaicasgodson2125 what do you mean? If you have a newer car then just install the tweeter and its dedicated bass blockers that came with it then install the woofers for your mid. You dont need these 2 way crossovers on newer cars cuz they already have built in quality passive crossovers somewhere in the car for the speakers unless your new speakers come with special crossovers to be installed then you have to install those crossovers that came with the speakers. Also, you can add an active crossover or a DSP(which is better) to the amp for higher quality sound.

    Whats the best way to hook up multiple mids and tweeters? If I have a cross over, can I connect more than 1 tweeter to the tweeter connections? Will the power be evenly distributed to each tweeter? If I have a bass blocker., can I set my amp to full signal and just let the bass blocker do all the work? Or should the amp crossovers be set appropriatley?

    • @bkordel
      @bkordel Před 3 lety

      It's not advised UNLESS you want a higher crossover slope than the crossover alone can provide. The slopes are added together when using 2. For example, a high pass at 100hz at a 12db slope and a bass blocker at 100hz with a 12db slope will result in a 100hz 24 db slope. If that's desirable for you, go for it. But keep in mind your other speakers should also share the same slope so you cover the entire spectrum evenly with no gaps. Hope that helps.

      Depends on the impedance rating of the speakers, and whether or not the amp and crossover are stable driving a load of that impedance.

    if i wired a tweeter that can take 50 rms to a speaker that can take 50 rms together that are each 4 ohm together with a high pass set at 120 without a crossover like the one used if my tweeter already has a bass blocker my real question is can u give the mid speaker higher frequencies without hurting it

    Hello I’m late here my question is I purchased the ds18 component set zxi 2way set I installed everything but I upgraded the midrange speaker to a zxi pro that can handle put to 300watts of rms and my amplifier puts out 275 at 4 ohms per channel and everything seems fine while playing music also my amp setting was s at high pass for extra protection I believe is around 160 and to 200 hz .Now I saw on ds18 website they a passive cross over that can handle 300watts rms should be okay with what have now or I need to replace my passive cross over to these ones to get more power

    so using that crossover with your example and running a 2ohm amp. both speaker and tweeter will still have to be 4ohms rite...in other words..using a crossover wont change anything a far as ohms go

      crossovers shouldn’t be but if they are I would imagine it hardly affect the 0hm load ..
