But, no one within the ranks of the USPS has the cojones to revamp our climate/culture. The USPS could be SO much better, if we didn’t have overly compensated upper management, whose compensation doesn’t equate to results. Status quo is going to be the earth of the US Postal Service.

Well, that's just not possible and companies are protected from this. Employers are only responsible for things that occur while an employee is performing their duties. Stealing is not part of their duties and therefore the company is not responsible. However, they will likely always prefer to settle out of court instead of going to court and wasting way more money in order to fight it. Employees will always have the opportunity to go against their duties and companies simply have no possible way to ultimately prevent these events from occurring when employees are dedicated to pulling something like this off.

Here in western Wisconsin, the smaller towns are having all sorts of US mail problems. The post office can't get people to work for them. There are lots of reasons why folks won't. Often, according to my sources, new hires try it out for a few days, then simply quit. A common complaint is the it's just to hard to do and not worth the sacrifice. MANY mail carriers are forced to work 7 days a week, by the way. I have heard that (check for yourself), since the Post Office has begun delivering for amazon on Sundays!, this has pushed many carriers over the edge and into early retirement.
I am not associated with the post office in any way, but I suggest that, as usual, it's a management problem, not necessarily the carriers themselves. Unfortunately for us citizens, the US congress gives the post office very little leeway to actually manage the business for customer satisfaction. --The whole problem of hiring new AND keeping the existing employees is a lot deeper than I have just described here.

A USPS delivery guy marked two of my Amazon packages as delivered. I got a text, but my Ring camera didn't alert me to anyone on my porch. I checked cameras and saw the USPS driver drive past my house without stopping and turn the corner at the same time he marked my package delivered. I called the post office. The manager told me that if it was marked delivered, then it was. I was at the ER with my mom and couldn't go to the post office at that time but told the supervisor that if I had to drive over there with the video evidence, it wasn't going to go well. The packages were on my porch within 10 minutes. There is a lot of theft among postal employees.

I worked for them for a little while. The left hand never knows what the right hand is doing. I’d deliver packages and they wouldn’t “clear” on the managers computer program so they’d send someone else to make sure I actually delivered them. They were always up my ass and micromanage the shit out of you, not to mention the veterans who sabotage you in various ways because they don’t want you going as fast or faster than them on their sweet ass route. The union ain’t worth a fuck either.

all packages should be securely sealed as stuff can easily get crushed or broken and it’s not the fault of an employee,..

I'm pretty sure this is a much bigger problem across the country. I've had several packages go missing and followed up with USPS and the driver claims they've delivered the package. And package isn't where it should be with no one else taking the package. Shipping companies seem to make a habit of losing packages. I once won a grill and UPS claimed it had been lost. Went to the depot and found they opened the grill and were using it for themselves. I was quickly reimbursed for the grill. They count on you not following up or just trying to get a replacement shipped. You want change for these bad habits. Get angry every time, and be sure to follow through.

USPS Tracking said the item was delivered and put in my mail box but I never got it. I've ordered a lot of items home delivered and never had a missing package from Amazon. Sure Amazon took care of it but I still reported the package missing to USPS. A bad USPS delivery person may bet on Amazon taking care of the customer and the customer never filing a claim with USPS. Keep em on their toes. Report the missing package to USPS. How else will they know? I don't know if Amazon follows up with USPS.

the day. Come back at night when the post office is open for people who have PO boxes and you'll amazon packages just dumped there by drivers who couldn't find the
addresses then came back and left the packages in the lobby. I've seen Amazon drivers repeatedly putting packages in the USPS rural mail boxes despite that being against
the law. Dump and run. Let the USPS worry about it would be the thought process. Amazon, if you want to deliver your own packages through your own delivery service, then
deliver them to the houses. You can't dump packages in the USPS lobby and expect the postage service to handle Amazon packages
